I spent 30 years in the Kempo system. I believe there are variations in what is called a horse stance across systems. We would tilt the pelvis under (flatten the back) which it doesn't look like you are doing. I can't do the pelvis-under variation due to possible arthritis in the right hip. I don't recall what the point of the pelvis under position was, but it looks like I can still get benefit from the more relaxed pelvis position, so maybe I'll bring that back into my routine. Thanks!

Question on depth -- Is it better to go deeper? I can achieve a similar position to what you are showing (and feel a good burn in the quads)....but tutorials from other channels say to go much deeper.....something which is very uncomfortable for me, and I think even unattainable at my age and flexibility limitations.

I have had osteo arthritis of the left knee for about 15 years, and for the most part, the more I walk, do stairs, squats and the horse stance I never have any issues. Occasionally I will start to feel discomfort, and then I take turmeric and black pepper mixed in water for a few days and it clears up. I realize this will not work for everyone but it is worth trying.

I have a question about this exercise, I tried it and it puts some seriously heavy strain on my knee ( meniscus root tear, extrusion repair surgery) am I flexing my knee out wrong, not pointing my toes correctly (I understand the horse stance, jujitsu and former barrel racer) or should I do a different exercise to strengthen my knee before I attempt this leg strengthener? Thank you for all you do, I really appreciate all of you!
