I watched with my first girlfriend, Shelley. We were drinking some beers in the couch just digging us some Mott the Hoople. Some of the best memories of my life! Love the genius of Mott the Hoople and later Ian's solo career. That was real music back then!
Yeah ! Awesome stuff ... Ian Hunter with Mott the hoople was the best... even though I loved his first solo album with Ronson...but after that...not so much...plus "Mott-Drive on" was a pleasant surprise...but wish he woulda stayed with MTH ...😄
Awesum footage of an awesum band always been a huge fan of mott the hoople since early 70's,although mick Ralph's had already left to form bad co,good to see Ariel bender on guitar 🎸,long live mott the hoople 🎶🎸🎶
Always like Ian Hunters' vocals... the way he goes slower or faster than the beat , then comes right back on beat... or when it's time for the rhyme, but he doesnt. Clever boy !
Have you seen the footage of them on the midnight special ? It has just been released...I remember seeing them on either this or that...they played "All the way from Memphis" and I was hooked ...it was in mid/late '73...I'm thinking it was with Mick Ralphs on guitar...but I learned he had left in August...so maybe not...
Saw Mott on their’74 tour….on a triple bill with Stories(“Brother Louie”) and Joe Walsh’s Barnstorm….ah those were the days my friends. I still have the ticket stub….cost me $4.50!!
Really...? What year did you see them... which line up...?...I'm envious...wish I could have seen them...but I was too young when they passed through Los Angeles playing at the Santa Monica civic in April or May of '74...I wasn't allowed to go...😐

Mott were the originals....and certainly Kiss took from them. as did the New York Dolls and probably countless others. Bassist Overend Watts even gave Arthur Kane of the Dolls his platform boots!
Certainly, it must be Blue Weaver playing an organ, you're simply right. In 1973 he went with Mott The Hoople to support a US concert tour. Grateful, I'll pay attention to your significant thought and add this to the description.

Mott the Hopple's one and only great album was "all the young dudes" great album, I have it in my collection. "One of the Boy's" is one of my all-time favorites. But that's it. I'm sure they were good in concert...
@@JeremyHillary-kw4ms That’s cool man! I have signed copies of the book from the author! It’s a funny book. Their manager just liked the title and thought it would be a great band name…
At the beginning, of course like every singer, you're gonna walk right up to the monitor and stick the mic in it. I hate singers that don't understand his equipment. The last thing you ever want to do is aim the microphone inches from your monitor thats cranked up so you can hear yourself. These are the things that keep me up at night.
Why does he have to rip on LA? Of course it's tongue in cheek,, but most UK bands would be dying to get to break in the good old USA. Is Ian already tired of playing Davids song?
Idk, Ian liked playing with the band obviously but it was also majorly stressful for him. Being in such a place probably might have made it worse. But I’m not Ian so I couldn’t give you a definitive answer
Tracklist:
1. All The Young Dudes 00:35
2. Sweet Angeline 04:12
3. Drivin' Sister 10:12
4. All The Way From Memphis 13:56
great song list, thanks!

Rock was so fresh back then. I had just graduated from High School and this was on the radio. Yeah!
I was a freshman and went to see them live '73, Chicago. Yeah man!
Love Ariel Bender's pre-KISS space suit
This band was a great influence on me as a teenager in the early 70s

Overend and the Swallow Bass.
How is this band and especially Ian Hunter not in the Rock Hall? Along with Bowie and TRex these guys defined glam rock.
Sigh. Because the R&R HOF is LAME!
Yeah I don't fuckin' get it ! Why !? Ian Hunter is rock'n'roll !!!!!!!!!
Same reason Johnny Winter and MC5 aren't it's a f@#$ing joke no credibility at all they aren't getting any more of my money
As well as Slade….. great music for the best generation of music the 70’s all types of music excelled during this decade.😊👍👏🎤🎸🥁🎹
Also , procol harum and Jethro Tull both clearly should be in the rock hall. Saw this tour at the Santa Monica civic auditorium, they were incredible!

Though one of the Highlight songs of the ‘70’s we havent been told what a “ hoople” is??!!…
A Hoople is like a sad sack who nothing ever goes right for.
If I’m remembering correctly, “Mott the Hoople” is actually the name of a story, so that’s where they got the name from
It’s a book and a “hoople” is a bum, hobo, wandering minstrel, etc. His name in the novel is Norman Mott.

There is no Mott, that's just in the name of the band. All the guys have their own names.
