    CORRECTION - Cod Warzone has a 250fps cap enabled by default 🤡 After a retest, expect 240-265fps at 1440p low in the city, 300ish when further away. 1080p numbers 280fps -320fps are doable. CPU bound in a lot of cases. 1440p extreme will remain about the same as shown, occasionally going above 250

      I'm getting 400+ consistently with DLSS performance mode and frame gen at 1440p low settings with textures on normal. 7950x3d and 4090. I haven't noticed anything weird when running framegen in cod. It works really well for me and only adds 4-5ms system latency on to my already sub 10ms total. I don't see it go above 14ms often, normally sits around 12ms.

  • @jvlivsakamaxiaid
    @jvlivsakamaxiaid Месяц назад +29

    This is exactly what I wanted to see: a more "realistic" (if you can call owning a 4090 realistic) kind of benchmark. These and the 1080p "true" benchmarks complement each other, giving you a sense of how the CPUs truly compare against each other, but also what kind of real life performance you might expect out of them on your actual rig, in situations where you're more likely to be GPU bound. 1% and 0.1% lows are better though, and that can be significant.

    • @RobBCactive
      @RobBCactive Месяц назад +4

      @@jvlivsakamaxiaid lots of reviewer channels provide 1080p/1440p/4K data, just in a limited range of games to show the less difference a faster CPU makes at higher resolution. That was done ad infinitum to 5800x3D with caution on expectations at higher resolution. But chips like the 5800x3D have aged better because faster GPUs handle the higher resolutions better.
      The CPU test is about establishing ceiling framerates, to hit fps targets on later upgrades with later GPUs. Even then games are patched sometimes removing bottlenecks changing the "real life performance" available with a faster CPU and GPU

    • @jvlivsakamaxiaid
      @jvlivsakamaxiaid Месяц назад +6

      @@RobBCactive Absolutely. What I wanted to point out is "lower res" reviews alone may set an unrealistic expectation for uninformed consumers. Let's say "9800X3D is 20% faster than 7800X3D on average". Then you throw away your 7800X3D expecting huge gains, and are surprised by little to no improvement. Even with a 4090 you'd struggle to see a significant difference at this point in time. You'll probably need a 5090 to realize the full potential of that CPU, but then, why bother upgrading it now? Maybe when you get to upgrade your GPU, there's yet a new latest and greatest X3D chip.
      That's why both sets of data are valuable. They give you insight and the ability to manage expectations. An uplift percentage alone is kind of a liar.

    • @RobBCactive
      @RobBCactive Месяц назад +1

      @@jvlivsakamaxiaid well that "on average" depends on game selection, when x3D was first out a lot of game engines were bottle necked, including those would reduce the general performance boost, while excluding undersells the large boost seen in some games.
      I really don't need to see endless repetition of CPU results with GPU bottlenecks, referring new viewers to past videos makes sense.
      Uninformed consumers watching reviews are informing themselves, watching HUBs explanation of CPU game testing clears it up. As can be seen the comments people are drawing the wrong conclusions based on "realistic testing".

      Some people say they don't care about ray tracing, and that's why x7900xtx.
      But by that logic you may as well put everything on medium and just have a 1080ti.
      If you have a top tier GPU, you are likely playing modern games with ray tracing.
      It is worth turning on, and this is why AMDs next gen has a huge focus on this. AMD have conceded that they can't compete with Nvidia at the highest end.
      The x7900xtx is a much better value GPU, especially at £715 now compared to £1200 for a 4090. And especially if you mainly play COD or other AMD optimised games.
      However, if you really want true MAX settings for you monitor, then you'd unfortunately need a 4090, and make the savings elsewhere... Like even using a 14700k or DDR4 ram, last gen SSD, ATX form factor case, mobo etc. as this won't effect FPS/ game play, but will save you a few hundred £ to get the 4090...
      You have a solid card, in Jan the 5090 is revealed which will make use of pcie5. So you're never going to have the best for very long, and that money will do you more favours in Bitcoin than it will chasing the impossible dream.

      Everything will work fine with an nvidia gpu and an amd cpu. My current pc is my profile picture. I went with my first all white high end build with the gigabyte aero oc 4090/ 7800x3d ( which will be given to my bro for his upgrade and I will upgrade to the 9800x3d soon )/ cl30 latency 6,000mhz 64 gigs ddr5 ram which will be back up because ( I ordered cl28 latency 6,000mhz speed ram mainly for aesthetics )/ my case is the lian li o11 vision.

    Quick question .....I have an i5 4690 with GTX 1080. I'm not rich and can only upgrade one item.
    Either i5-12600KF CPU with ddr 4 and a new motherboard or MSI Gaming GeForce RTX 4070 12GB.

    • @dwu9369
      @dwu9369 Месяц назад

      New CPU, new RAM, and new motherboard for sure. You're CPU limited big time. I can tell you from experience. I had a similar CPU and GPU generation. It was an i7 4820k, 16 GB DDR3, and 1080 Ti. The last game I attempted to play on that build was Assassin's Creed Origins and it was a bad experience from the get go. When i7 9700K launched, I upgraded to that with 32 GB DDR4, but kept the 1080 Ti. The game ran like butter.

    This is the MB and CPU I'm looking at but not committing until I can get a 5090. I wonder if this CPU will get beaten by that time? 99% of the time it will be serving my Pimax 8k so I wonder what this will do for VR titles?

      @ Better is always better. After years of owning the Pimax, I still can't use it to its full potential. These new systems give you hundreds of frames per second until you hook up a hires VR set and then they run like a snail with a broken foot.

  • @WavyPhoton

    I actually think you got cod wrong and in general, I think you're not thinking about the game engine not being able to produce more than 250 fps, which is pretty common Im having that same issue with my 4090 and a fixed 7950x3D, I'm GPU bound in most my games and if not, then it seems the game engine is the limiting factor if all of my CPU cores, and my GPU aren't at 100% utilization. I think the 9800x3D might need a 5090 in the future to increase fps, because as of now, no gpu and game engine can beat the 9800x3D.
    None of your CPU cores hit 100% utilization, and your 4090 was at 90%. There was performance on the table, and I experience the same thing and can't go above 250 fps, and my settings says my fps is uncapped. I think the engine might be maxed out at 250 fps. I haven't played warzone bo6, I only played bo6 multiplayer
