@@jakejohnson7671 I’m sure they have more in them, but we’re kidding ourselves if we think there is competition for this group outside of the d1 college ranks. Not a high school team in the country that could even pretend to push them over a full 4 miles.
This was a SHELLACKING and they weren’t even going all out. Simply ASTOUNDING! I can hardly wait to see what Newbury Park does in the State Meet! It could be EPIC!
The top 5 went to the front early but look at 6 and 7 work their way through the pack. NP has two more on their young team nearly as fast as their 6 and 7 varsity. Hopefully, they continue to deliver up to their potential and stay healthy. Next year's team could be just as powerful. Look forward to watching state and nationals.
the coach of Newbury Park really perfected his technique...but the boys did all the workouts even on their days off..thats commitment and passion for the sports. They all deserve it because they worked diligently to be the best team in the nation

@@bryandelgadillo2453 no nationals this year unfortunately however they have a young team so they can probably break the meet record at NXN next year too
What an inspiration for all the young athletes out there. To see a school get all top 6 spots at a D1 sectional meet, getting a perfect score. You could literally write a movie about this, it's that surreal to watch. Just comes to show, no boundary can't be breached, even if it seems impossible.
they literally just pack ran a sub-15 while talking to each other down the stretch. a perfect score is great and all but I've seen it before. Being that comfortable at that pace is something I've NEVER seen before
Even more credit to Jason Parra because he probably didn't have the benefit of training with elite level teammates like the NP kids. That being said, soph. Dev Doshi from NP worked his way up throughout the race to challenge his teammate for fifth at the end of the race. Both those sophs showed a lot of heart. The Newbury Park kids are very fortunate to have a coach that knows his stuff and the opportunity of training along side talented hard working teammates that set high standards.
In 1972 Lompoc had five runners on the team finished in the top 10 at Mt Sac, and I thought they were dominant. That team won the Track and Field News sponsored postal competition (national championship). Never thought I would see a team with this many elite runners at the same time. When you have a program like this the competition between the team members pushes them all to achieve greater things.
@@luisramirez1161 I was on the team that came in second to Lompoc that year. We won it in 1974. We were also second in the Postal meet. In '72, Lompoc set a new postal record with a team time of 46 minutes, 21 seconds which eclipsed the old record of 47:11. Williams led the way (8:58.4) while Alvin Gilmore (9:15.4), Jim Schankel (9:18.8), Warrick (9:20.4) and Tony Nunez (9:28.0) followed right behind. How does a last name change on a guy? After the Valley Loop mile and ditching the rest of the pack on the Switchbacks it’s very clear this team is just on another planet. I know! I've started the first 400 of a race on the most lumpy, long grass and it was horrible! Really shows how important the start of a race actually is.
This is a regional championship meet, not the state meet. The California State Meet has a grass start. I do agree that the start is a pain. The airstrip is very narrow and it’s not uncommon for people to fall at the start. Fortunately I never fell when I raced here. I would support having the race start on the field of the stadium next to it to make the course a 5K and give it a less congested start, but I appreciate the classic Mt Sac course for what it is.
They really all came out in Vapor Fly's on a XC course and dominated. Have you ever tried running fast on gravel with vaporflys you loose at least a couple seconds per mile from slippage.
