That race was honestly phenomenal honestly crazy to believe how far both teams made it. Nico honestly showed the world how great he is and also for all the teams this was just a unbelievable race it was so awesome I am lost for words.
I was rooting for Newbury Park all along, and when they won NXN, I cheered along with them. Great job to all the teams who competed! You guys are such a big inspiration.
I can’t wait to see Colin in his senior year leading and being an absolute powerhouse in this nation, I’m calling that he’ll be one of the top tier runners in future years
Same, especially with him running a 14:53 at the desert twilight as only a jr. whenever NXN will be next spring, I think he will finish all American and possibly a top ten finish
@jason stephenson yeah postseason starts that day after Christmas. 12/26 is going to be a good day! It’s because of COVID. Although Nike is still host virtual competitions once a week for the top high schools. I would expect NXN to be some time in March

My Buffalo, NY high school, Bishop Timon, was undefeated in dual meets in 1963. In the All-Catholic Meet, our fifth man lost it and we took second. XC was one of my best high school memories. The other was running 4:53 in the mile on the track team.
During the interviews, there were several things shared that really got to me. That moment was one of them. Chris is such a great youngster and teammate that it hurt me to hear that. The teams on both teams work so hard. Great Oak showed immense class in defeat.

Next question: How can a team have only 128 points with places of 1-18-53-95-100? Why isn't that 267? Did they take out unattached runners from the score? If so that means there were a lot of unattached runners in the top 100.
Honestly I'd rather take 3rd than 2nd. Temecula looks so dead after getting second.... second in the nation. 3rd place is fantastic because you make the podium, but you don't feel like you missed out on first.
Yes, both received Valedictorian honors. Newbury Park High awards Valedictorian honors based on achievement of a certain GPA - and the 2020 cutoff was a 4.65 GPA. There were 28 students in the graduating class that achieved this honor. At least one other NP Cross Country Athlete, Archana Mohandas, achieved this GPA as well (and she now runs for MIT).

Yes, between Nico and the battle between GO and NP for the national championship during the 2019 season, this series did focus on the boys' side. But, the girls have their own stories, and we will cover them in a few episodes we are planning in the coming months. Stay tuned.

@@jonmissel747 not true at all, coaches always go on the stage. The two Draper coaches were both on stage at the same time, they finished third (watch the video). Coaches also go up on stage in the NCAA. Every coach is different and the Newbury coach has a great connection with the kids and their parents. It was amazing to watch .
@@jonmissel747 Thats amazing to say "we". The coach is a part of the process with the team. They go though the season together. The coach has to sacrifice as much as the athletes to be the best. They talk about this in an earlier episode. Those kids are lucky to have coaches at NP and GO give them so much time effort and passion. They, We, Us all do it together! One big team as it should be. Did you see the BYU coach go crazy on the NCAA stage last cross country season. it was amazing to watch!
@@jonmissel747 The women's coach was on stage for BYU and was shaking the heck out of the trophy it was an amazing moment. They invite the HS coaches on state at NXN and NCAA'a is a cool thing and amazing.It's kind of sad it bothers you. I'm 100% sure all the NP guys wouldn't change it for the world. You seem mad about it and thats strange.
