Love your energy! Your hair is beautiful and you give really solid tips. The reason one should not use products with glycerin in the winter is because glycerin has an opposite reaction during cold weather. Instead of drawing moisture into the hair ( like in summer or when dew points are high) the glycerin allows the cold air to remove moisture from the hair in an attempt to put more moisture into the air to achieve balance. This is what dries the hair out during cold weather.

This really helped. I didn't understand the whole use glycerin in the summer but not winter thing but you clarified that. Also I didn't know that about coconut oil either.
I also checked out your DIY shea butter mix and I am happy to say that I will be making it as well pretty soon! Is there a reason you don't use coconut oil in the mix?

I've been protective styling since early October though it hasn't been necessary cause Michigan is having a surprisingly mild one (so far at least). I need to oil my scalp more often though cause I always forget too!

I definitely needed this...my hair has been unbelievably dry & everything I'm doing is just making it greasy.lol. I'll give these tips a try!! Oh but do u use your she butter mix as a styler or do u use a styler on top of the she butter?
+exclusiveop So happy this was helpful!! I hope this tips work out for you love! I use my shea as a styler most of the time because it gives me a light hold with the right amount of fluff but when I'm looking for more hold I use a styler!
