Over the years past I have owned no fewer than three African Gray Parrots and one Patagonian Conure. I no longer own any because my work requires me to travel all the time and my wife doesn’t love birds like I do. This is why I love watching you interact with Gizmo! It helps me to continue to remember how to interact with birds. 😊
Ive raised several kinds of birds throughout my life & Gizmo is the funniest "nerd" i have ever seen! That baby is sooo smart! Its facinating! Ur lucky he chose u! When im sad(husband is dying of an inoperable brain tumor) i watch these videos and it helps me to feel so much better❤. Thank u for showing him to the world❤❤❤❤❤❤

When you mentioned youre mum passing unexpectedly & him saving you the flood gates bloody opened. I had the same experience but with a cat!!! She was originally mine for 18mts then lived with my mum for 7 yrs due to my living arrangements. When she suddenly passed two yrs ago I scooped my Kiki up & took her home (a new place). Animals absolutely know our emotions & help us to heal. Sending you a big loada luv
Every time I hear someone droning on about how “parrots don’t talk, they just mimic”, I send them to a video of Gizmo, Einstein, or Alex. Like many people on the autism spectrum, I’m pretty obsessed with animals and animal behavior. ..and I’m especially obsessed with the fact that animals are FAR more emotional and intelligent than we give them credit for. African Greys are pretty much at the top of my list of go to animals for making that case.

I’m a hardcore cat person, but parrots and corvids are a pretty close second for me. They’re absolutely amazing animals!! If my cats could talk, I’d never leave my house. Lol

Several cockatoos on YT communicate in context, building sentences etc., just like Gizmo does, but Gizmo is the only grey I know of that really uses words and sentences to communicate in context, Einstein and other talking greys do not. They speak certain words or short sentences on cue, very different - that I do see as reproduction. Someone at some time must have communicated a lot with Gizmo by using words, since he understood how language words in the exact same way human children does. They won’t learn that from humans repeating the same words or short sentences while talking to them. Great how Gizmo keeps on learning too! 👏👏👏🤗
Giz is probably the nicest bird on YT (along with Lilo and Lotte, a German channel with 4 African Greys). He's so entertaining, you can tell he's really enjoying his new life and he appreciates all the attention he gets, it is truly wonderful to watch.

I'm so thrilled he has you now. I've had a macaw and 2 quakers and they are so incredibly smart. It's not fair to them to keep them caged up they need room and they need to know the only thing that cage is for is sleeping and protection when your not home and not a jail. They love with such passion too the ones they bond with and the more love and attention you give them the more they'll return it. Gizmo is so precious and I get so happy to see him and love watching and listening to him. It's a shame he was treated so badly but he's got you now so his life is wonderful now. Thank you for rescuing him and loving him.

Great story! I've gotten in a similiar mess with trying to save too many cats. You have to make sure you don't end up trying to care for more than you are capable of taking care of emotionally and physically. I love Giz. Especially the "who let da birds out? chirp chirp chirp"
Absolutely, and it’s so hard not to as sometimes we feel like we can save everyone and have the best intentions but we just can’t love so many and some get hurt along the way
He trust you both 💯% and that is beautiful. Gizmo is so happy to be a part of your family and I know you guys love him. He does amazingly well to have been pretty much isolated for so many years. I have pretty much been isolated since my husband died 6 years ago. I pray to God I do as well as Gizmo when I get back out into the world. It really messes with your headand your health. Bless his heart he served 16 years in prison for something he did not do. As far as I'm concerned my life wouldn't be worth living without my dog children. I have no human children . I remember first seeing Gizmo walking across your kitchen floor & you were calling him officer Gibby & I lost it. Never laughed so hard. It fit him. Hysterical & I was hooked. He is hilarious.
I watched this with tears in my eyes, because I rescued a CAG who was just like Gizmo. I lost him to old age a while back and just watching Gizmo brought back all those feelings of love that I had for my Charlie and am so glad that Gizmo got his second chance at love!!!
I have a very similar relationship with my black Labrador, Ziggy. When my ex girlfriend and I decided we wanted a Labrador we went to the place to just see the puppies available. There were several strolling around playing with each other and then there was this curious little puppy who would try to jump on my legs. He wouldn't let me go and he followed me everywhere in that funny, comical way puppies have. I knew and he knew it was him. Now. After almost 8 years there is nothing we don't do together. We shared joy, tears, laughs... I sleep, he sleeps. I lay on the couch, he lays on the couch. He's my best friend! I couldn't live without him. The relationship is magic, it's unconditional love 💕!

It breaks my heart that he was sitting alone in a cage, and if they were rescuing birds he might have had it even worse before that. So proud of you guys I was showing his video on my livestream last night. Me and a livestream friend have an inside joke with Gizmo no that video you did, you filmed him singing bad bird but with the actual music over top and he does the sirens in the right spot. I call that friend a bad bird now and we start laughing. Im making gizmo go more viral haha birds dont fly they go live is another ive been quoting and most people are like what the.😂😂 I have birds when i get money i wanna get a macaw or African grey id love one to talk like yours with context if not they are still smart and create unbreakable bonds and pick up whistling very well. for me it looks like he's a human in a bird body... his talking makes sense all the time, but 2:31 got me really hard. That's the perfect bond you guys share. Seeing Gizmo makes me a bit sad, because a friend in the UK lost his 2 grey birds in a house fire.
I'm so happy he's with you all now. You're love for him and his for you is so evident and it's beautiful. I had my sun conure, Petrie, for 25yrs, Feb will be a year since she died. I still turn to talk to her or think I hear her... me doing dishes was her favorite because she'd run down to the water and splash around of n on... she couldn't speak anything like Giz, but she copied loads of noises, sneezed perfectly any time we did, she'd answer my "love you" with her a big less clear, but still clear enough "love you"... she absolutely knew humor, or at least knew when tones used when saying something funny or telling a joke because she knew when to laugh, she had an amazing laugh, and I was on time always, she'd get it and laugh before we did. Giz is the first bird I've been able to look at or hear since.... but he's so sweet and funny that you can't look away. But you've clearly given him such a good loving home and I love seeing him all puffed... my Petrie, anytime I blew on her feathers, or after a bath and having fun drying off and hiding in my hair, we'd have our little talks and when she was happy and comfy her little body, especially her neck and cheeks, were so fluffy she looked huge. Boy I miss her. But its fun to watch your sweet Giz. And even more so knowing where he was and where he is now with you. Such an awesome thing!!❤

3:52 Some people have the best intentions but it doesn't end well. His previous owner just got overwhelmed. It happens a lot with rescuers.

So proud of you guys I was showing his video on my livestream last night.
Me and a livestream friend have an inside joke with Gizmo no that video you did, you filmed him singing bad bird but with the actual music over top and he does the sirens in the right spot.
I call that friend a bad bird now and we start laughing. Im making gizmo go more viral haha birds dont fly they go live is another ive been quoting and most people are like what the.😂😂
I have birds when i get money i wanna get a macaw or African grey id love one to talk like yours with context if not they are still smart and create unbreakable bonds and pick up whistling very well.

I had my sun conure, Petrie, for 25yrs, Feb will be a year since she died. I still turn to talk to her or think I hear her... me doing dishes was her favorite because she'd run down to the water and splash around of n on... she couldn't speak anything like Giz, but she copied loads of noises, sneezed perfectly any time we did, she'd answer my "love you" with her a big less clear, but still clear enough "love you"... she absolutely knew humor, or at least knew when tones used when saying something funny or telling a joke because she knew when to laugh, she had an amazing laugh, and I was on time always, she'd get it and laugh before we did.
Giz is the first bird I've been able to look at or hear since.... but he's so sweet and funny that you can't look away.
But you've clearly given him such a good loving home and I love seeing him all puffed... my Petrie, anytime I blew on her feathers, or after a bath and having fun drying off and hiding in my hair, we'd have our little talks and when she was happy and comfy her little body, especially her neck and cheeks, were so fluffy she looked huge. Boy I miss her.
But its fun to watch your sweet Giz. And even more so knowing where he was and where he is now with you. Such an awesome thing!!❤
