  • CNN's Laura Coates speaks with Christian Lopez and his attorney Tiffany Bogosian about a 2020 dinner during which Lopez says George Santos tried to get him to invest $300,000 in a firm that Federal authorities say is a Ponzi scheme. Santos has denied any wrongdoing.

In this era of fake news, George Santos we now know as a fake, with the aid of powerful allies made a pitch, to mostly wealthy, above average educated, and supposedly well informed people, for their vote so he could become their Representative in the US Congress. Low and behold, with little regard to his background the people of New York's 3rd congressional district, bought George Santos's pitch and elected him as their Congressman. I am not so sure that is sickening. I think it's an all American success story for George Santos, in these some might say falsity times we are living in.

Times have changed and now stock market is all about pump and dump leaving retailers as bag holders. Bag holders turned to long term investors will still bag hold and stock might go to zero. There is too much news, too many analysts, too many factors, too many firms, insiders influencing the stock price. Retailer money is being sucked. Just do some quick math: if the dude gave Santos $300K ... and then Santos would be giving him back $3K every 2 to 3 weeks ... the dude would not recover his original investment of $300K until 5 or 6 years went by. Man, that's a long con! And a long time for something to go horribly wrong - especially since Santos would not divulge what the money would actually be invested in. Jam-packed full of red flags!

    • @philgroves7694

In fact, if he put that money into an interest bearing savings account, with just 3% return ... in 5 years, he would actually be ahead of what Santos was promising by almost $50K. No thanks, George. Sounds like a very, very poor investment scheme. Scheme being the operative word.
