    I worked for the department of commerce for 15 years. To be hired there I had to first pass a timed test, go through FBI clearance, and I was sworn in with an oath to uphold for life. I was one of 50 people to take the test and only two people were hired out of all those, me, and one other person. Why don’t candidates have to go through this same process before they’re even allowed to run?!?!

      @@PaNNgz I got hit by a car in 2017 and a cop had to take me and my bicycle home. He told me the biggest problem in LA with the police department was finding qualified candidates. There simply weren’t any, so they have to settle for whatever they get, and make exceptions. That’s more than a subpar way to run a department. The people are the ones that suffer. Btw, the guy that hit me had expired plates, no insurance and had no consequences. I had to have three surgeries, and paid for all of them out of my own pocket. My $1500 bicycle was totaled. I pay taxes, insurance, and all the things I am supposed to pay…but other people don’t, so I have to pay more. I am so sick of these bloated fat cats that live off the rest of us. They need to suffer consequences as well.

      To me, I saw it slightly differently. He seems to get off on the fact that now he's "important" because reporters around the world want to hear what he has to say. Of course, everyone is calling him out for the pathological liar that he is. But he couldn't care less about that. "LOOK, they're all talking to me! I'm a somebody!!!", is the vibe I got.

    Robbers do take your shoes in Brazil. I used to live in Brazil and a friend of mine was told to give this very young man (even boy) his sneakers. This was 1978 and American shoes were highly sought after by younger people then. This was at gunpoint BTW. It is also worth saying that there was (and still are) large sections of society in Brazil in utter poverty. In a country like Brazil, I can imagine Santos being robbed of his shoes. In New York? I've been to New York and there are places that I felt uncomfortable for sure. A friend was mugged in Washington DC. He was lured into a back alley and asked quite nicely for his wallet. He kept his shoes...
