      IMO, Envy 17 is pretty solid too, just because the dedicated GPU.
      It's a bit big though. Idk why they stopped putting dedicated GPUs in the 15.

    • @legion637
      @legion637 7 лет назад +2

      Kim Jong Skill I've seen the Envy 17 in stores. Just because it has a dGPU doesn't make it solid. A 15w CPU in that size is ridiculous, and plastic build is ridiculous...

    • @King_Kong_Song
      @King_Kong_Song 7 лет назад

      I haven't seen the new ones in any stores, but at this point, I just expect a plastic build from HP.
      I have a 2013 Envy, it's mostly plastic. I've seen the 2016 ones in stores, they're an improvement, but the bottom is still plastic. (At least they decided to paint it that time.)
      I didn't see the 15w CPU, but that doesn't bother me even after looking at it. Looks like a huge upgrade from the AMD A-10 that I currently have.

    Great video! Can you ask HP for one of the new HP Envy x360 laptops with the AMD Ryzen 5 2500U? It's a Raven Ridge APU and I would love to see how it performs!

    • @IDK-eu7dv
      @IDK-eu7dv 7 лет назад

      It's not raven ridge, those are for desktops and will come out in 2018. This is Ryzen mobile, completely different...

    • @PeterNjeim
      @PeterNjeim 7 лет назад +24

      IDK 700, this is why I don't like talking about computer hardware in a non-hardcore component channel. You are wrong, Raven Ridge is Ryzen + Vega APU's for both mobile and desktop. The U series Raven Ridge APU's are for laptops, and probably the X series (not known yet) will be for desktops. I can't believe someone as ignorant as you would say such a thing, literally just search "AMD Raven Ridge" and see for yourself lol.

    • @IDK-eu7dv
      @IDK-eu7dv 7 лет назад +1

      Peter Njeim OMG just because it has Ryzen/Vega branding doesn't mean it has the Ryzen/Vega architecture. I'll pull up some web links if you need me to.

    • @nameless4618
      @nameless4618 7 лет назад +15

      montgomery mchargue it's a CCG called Duelyst launched in 2016.
      What makes it stand out from other CCGs is the board : A combination of Hearthstone and Final Fantasy Tactics which adds an extra layer of depth and much more room for creativity and strategy. I highly recommend it if you want to get into card games (very newb friendly btw), best of all it's free!
      There has been a big update this 14 November which added a lot of cards and gamplay changes so this is a good opportunity to start playing if you're interested.
      If you're just interested in the artwork this might be to your liking:

      @nameless4618 7 лет назад +1

      It depends on what you consider as P2W. As a CCG, it is much more f2p friendly then other card games I played. For example, a card pack containing 5 random cards (at least 1 rare guaranteed, and on top of that, the drop rates for Epic/Legendary cards are pretty high) costs 100G.
      You get a daily free common card.
      2 quests rewarding 25-50 gold every day
      15 Gold every 3 wins (the winning player may choose to tip you 5G if you loose)
      Mystery crates containing cosmetics/cards/gold/orbs although you must buy the keys to open them with real money but you get 1 free key per month to open one so you can just ignore them.
      So you can easily buy at least 1 card pack a day by being a casual player and slowly build your deck. By the end of the month you'll have a couple of decent decks to compete with. And if you're a gifted strategist, you can compete in the top rankings without a single legendary.
      Of course there's also a luck factor, so if you've been cursed with bad luck by an evil spirit avoid any card game :P
      Personally, I've been playing this game since the open-beta in august 2015 so I've watched it grow. There have been a lot of changes since then but I found it very newb and f2p friendly. I'm able to compete in high ranks without having ever spent a single cent. In addition, it's backed up by a great community willing to help new players so if you have any doubts you can head to the forums ( forums.duelyst.com/ ) or to the discord server ( discordapp.com/invite/0WbpmyLbu52aphyb ) and ask anything you want.

    As a software developer I am considering this beast as a mobile workstation. If it doesn't take much time to compile and run tests, then there is no reason to start browsing internet while we're at it, and that could significantly improve my performance as a dev.
    I am imagining the moment when I bring this to my workplace first time. Red bag, red LEDs everywhere. But I decided that if I buy it, there will be no games on that laptop - unless I develop them myself.

      Shane S. It is dated through, this thing would be like Apple going back to the plastic white design of 2006.

    why no love for the xioami notebooks? fuck macbooks, review the xiaomi notebook pro. that thing is just amazing for the price, but you have to reinstall the windows since it comes with windows in one language (chinese). after the reinstall, then it's awesome. it has a dedicated gpu too, best macbook killer, better than xps 13/15 imho, better battery life too.

      true. but not dave. i prefer d2d's reviews on laptops than ltt. if that's your logic, what's the point of having multiple tech youtubers, if having one would be enough.

    • @ne0n_n1nja32
      @ne0n_n1nja32 7 лет назад +4

      It might just be because Dave reached out to them but they haven't replied yet. They are a Chinese company after all, so they might not know who he is, and he isn't as big as LTT.

    • @MrUnknownPunk
      @MrUnknownPunk 7 лет назад +6

      true. reviewers can't always get em for free. but i think LTT bought it themselves, or is affiliated with gearbest, since that's the link they have on the video. i just hope that D2D will review the unit tho, coz it needs more love imho. xioami makes great mid range phones, and are very innovative. china is on the move!!

    BEAST is the right word for it! I was waiting on ryzen 8 core & rx graphics laptops (not that i have the money for that) im hoping theyll make ryzen 3 & rx 560/570 options for the budget gamers that want an all amd laptop! But a ryzen 7 & gtx 1080 max q laptop would be a really kick ass product too!

      Lmao so true so though, but if you are deadset on an AMD platform, please do yourself a favor and buy the Helios 500, the Vega 56 is EVEN better, and I think the Helios 500 has Ryzen 7 2700, and you probably can upgrade to a Ryzen 3950x 12 core CPU, the cooling on Helios 500 is EXTREMEly capable!

    Unless I am mistaken, no one makes a 350w AC Adapter, might just be a typo but it should be a 330w.
    Also no mention of possible CPU manipulation, overclocking or downclocking, max RAM speeds, storage etc, the things that Ryzen users are concerned with. The other important issue with the laptop is the 4GB VRAM limit. For a laptop like this you want to keep for the long haul and 4GB VRAM is quite limiting.
    I do agree that the panel should at least be color accurate though, unless your editing on one machine and shipping to this one for render, but that doesnt make much sense either...

    I have seen this video over 10 times and I still love this laptop because I feel that is basically made for me, which is crazy, y can live with the extra weight and loud, for have the ryzen 7 which I love so much, and I think that is perfect for the one who can't choose between a desktop and a laptop and only have to choose one.

    Dave, I really like your videos, specially testing new laptops, I think you can do some stuff for engineers, like me, I would love to see a video testing a laptop on special engineering applications, like programming, CAD, or numeric simulations, it's really hard to find someone who give a deep idea on chosing the correct device based on this kind of work. I hope you take into account this message. If you need any help or guide doing this, I'm working on my Acer Predator Helios 300 a CFD simulation on Comsol Multyphysics and it has a great performance. Thanks!

    Even for Gaming, a lot of people are very happy with these machines even stock, but mostly after just a bit of Undervolting.
    I tweeted you a Picture with one of the comments detailing exactly what he did, and how Drastic improvement in results he gained, it would be nice to see these results in action and from a trustworthy opinion like yours...
