Thanks again. I purchased the dualist based on your earlier reviews. You gave it the ultimate test. I was pleased to see the handle in such great shape after what sounds like 200 on fire applications. Great after hike tips too.

I like the plastic cup as it serves as a prefect holder for your fuel canisters so you don't scratch the bottom of the pot. It all nests together within the pot along with a MSR pocket rocket.

This is a nice rig. I own it but don't use it too often. My go-to solo pot is the Evernew 0.9L pot. I use a pot cozy w/ it. For Pasta Sides or other meals that require 'cooking,' I simply boil the water, stir up the meal, & place it in the cozy. After 10-15 min, the meal is done. Nothing burnt to the pot. Enjoyed following your trek. Congrats. Zman GA-ME 2013

Good review. I didn't think I'd use the welded sink but it's turned out to be pretty useful. I've only had it for a few months but I'm stoked to see how it held up for you after that much use. Thanks for posting this.
Oh. the pot is 1.1 liters and the cup is 14 fl. oz.
    10.9 ounces for everything.

Newbie here: I'm assuming it's aluminum with Teflon coating. have you any experience with stainless steel cookware? Did you see any Pathfinder from Dave Canterbury's website out there? your thoughts on SS canteens and cooking pots please.

Can you post another video about how you managed your coffee situation? My wife and I have not figured out a method that we like for coffee on the trail. Thanks

Well I can say I never made coffee once on the trail, but a guy I hiked with for almost two months at the end did make coffee for us every day multiple times a day. He carried fresh grounds that he picked up in town and he used a French press that was made for his jetboil. It worked great! If you have a jetboil pot or still haven't bought one, that might be a good purchase. Hope this was helpful!

From your comment in this video, I thought you broke down and started making it. Ill check out the jetboil press. My wife and I are really enjoying your videos! We hope to one day thru-hike the AT with our 4 kids. Just need to wait until they are old enough

Ugh, stupid google+. Love your videos- I'm starting the trail at the beginning of April! I'm not sure if you covered this elsewhere, but I was wondering if you had difficulty getting canister fuel along the way. Did you get the larger cans just in case maybe? I was considering a soda can as a contingency. BTW, I've had this pot for about a year and absolutely love it. Thanks.

He said in another comment on the resupply video that he had no trouble finding the jetboil or msr isobutene canisters, however he grabbed the larger cans and if he saw it being a while between larger towns he bought two to get him to the next resupply.

Yeah I got the larger cans the further north I traveled. It was harder to find them up north. So I would purchase the large ones so didn't have to worry. I never had any issues. Happy Hiking!

This cook set has a Teflon coating? If so isn’t that coating harmful if it is scratched though?

Hi, I'm about to purchase one of the GSI cooksets and my only concern is how they perform over open fire (like your everyday camp fire), especially the plastic looking lids. Can you shed some light on this? Thanks very much!

Sup Red Beard! Quick question, how many times a day do you cook while you're out on a thru hike?

This is the cook set I use, but quick question, kinda of a simple dumb one at that. But I feel the way I clean my set takes to long and uses to much water. How did you go about cleaning your cook set to make cleaning quicker?

    • @RedBeard0924
      @RedBeard0924  9 лет назад

All I did was used my rag water and alittle soap after each use on the trail. Now it was always spotless, but for essentially a homeless person on a trail for 6 months it was clean enough. It must have been enough seeing that I never got sick once on the trail.

My girlfriend and I are starting our through hike of the AT march 20th 2016. We have a cheap two pot cook set but we are trying to cut weight. We have been experimenting with freezer bag cooking so we can carry just one pot, mainly for boiling water. However in the case that we do need to cook in the pot do you think 2 pasta sides will fit in there?
