- This warning comes from a new bike buyer. along with the help of someone who knew a bit more about bikes I decided to purchase this one at walmart. this is now the 2nd one as the 1st one had to be returned. BUY WITH CAUTION ⚠️ and be ready to make a lot of adjustments. Walmart does NOT take pride in their bike assembly
I bought an Axum DP at Walmart (online). Was great out of the box (assembled by me). I’ve upgraded some components, some to make the bike better and some just for cosmetic reasons. It’s been 3 years and it’s still my main bicycle. When I compared it to the Trek Marlin’s, which were $100 more, the Schwinn was a better buy having a tapered head tube, a 1X drivetrain and a dropper post. Walmart has good quality entry level bikes. Assembly is a whole other matter. When we worked retail, we hired outside companies to come in and build a bunch of bikes for us. Sometimes the mechanics were good, other times not so much. That extra service is why you pay more at bike shops. If you are mechanically inclined, you can save a lot of money buying a bike at Walmart or DSG. As for the warnings of how not to use them, in many cases, those are more driven by lawyers and liability claims than by actual capability.
Bikes only gonna be as good as the person that assembled it.

Exactly that's the point of the video and I want to look at a bike and they didn't have it in the box
that new vibe frame is way better than the first model.
I looked at one of these about 3 weeks ago at a local WM just to see if it was any better than the dozens of WM bikes I've worked on for people which have all been crap, including the Schwinns. The bike had clearly been ridden and ridden HARD with obvious signs the fork had been bottomed out and there was mud on the fork. I went to the service desk and let them know. I was back yesterday and went back to see if it was still there. It was but had been moved to a different spot, the mud was gone but the grease marks at the top of the stanchions from the fork having been bottomed out were still there. That aside it did seem to have slightly better quality components than most of the others but I have no doubt it had the same assembly issues as the WM bikes I have worked on and the ones pointed out in this video. Unless you're knowledgeable in bike repair do yourself a favor buy a used name brand that's a few years old but has been maintained if you're on a tight budget. It will be cheaper in the long run as you won't have to do as much to it as you will a WM BSO (Bicycle Shaped Object).
Now, all that said, I would love to get my hands on a bare frame from one of these and build it up with a decent groupset "just because".

Anyway i think you'd be better off saving some money for 1 good bike rather than buying walmart bikes every few years.

Probably so, but I don't plan on doing extreme mountain biking so I think this one will be ok for now. I will be as safe as I can though, thanks! ❤
You say they should have someone that knows what they are doing at every store assembling bikes.
You increased every single bike’s price by at least 50%.

Yes but I haven't even taken it on the trails. The first one fell apart on the road.

Kind of but Not really, I think these bikes have potential I think walmart has earned the bad reputation they have for bikes and they will never dig out of it in my opinion.
You bought a bike from a place that specializes in selling all things designed to be throwaway items.
The best is still from a big box store where a person getting little more than minimum wage and has no pride in their work is put to assembling the bike.

Just realize this one fact. You can't buy a cheap bike like this and achieve nirvana. If thats all you can do, than accept what you get. Otherwise, drop a grand and go from there. Don' t cry about it. It's highly annoying.
Don't need to even drop a grand, low end name brands from a dealer can be had for 1/2 that.
Just a Warning video. I know what I got myself into. I'm still riding this bike without issues now that I've fixed and adjusted everything.
u got a dud or not , all BIKES need a fist ride tune up , if u don't that all will fall apart
I would hope if I paid more than 1000 for a bike it would be ready to ride. But it's just a Warning, I kind of expected some issues.
Bikes from a dealer don't need anything tweaked before you ride it. They usually offer a first time check and adjust for free after you've rode it a bit and you won't need to pay a grand for the lower end models that will work just fine for many years.
Unless a person can fix a bike themselves, they are just burning money buying this cheap garbage. It doesn't take much more cash to get a lower end name brand from a reputable dealer with a decent warranty and they usually check and readjust everything for free after you've ridden it a bit.
