That's what is really impressive about him. He very rarely hesitates or stumbles. He just talks. It's a super rare thing and it means he doesn't have to edit it much
I genuinely hope this place is a big success for Farrah; the guy really loves cars, in a way that just cannot be faked, it’s obvious when you see his personal collection👍
TST is such an important yt channel for car culture. Matt is a great reviewer/writer and most importantly a hustler like no other. Keep going Matt I love your work. Shout out to Zach as well.
3 years ago an episode of the Smoking tire made me want to start my own youtube channel without any editing whatsoever. 29.000 subs this month. Thanks Matt for the inspiration! If you ever in Chile, dinners on me.
He’s got great taste. Obviously he’s a wealthy guy but he isn’t over the top with it, a lot of people just buy the fastest or the most expensive or the rarest shit possible, they’re all about the numbers. Yes Matt buys cars that are special and unique and will hold their value well but it’s clear that he wants to actually enjoy driving them because that’s what they were made for and where you get the most out of them
Everything he owns is a one-off/extremely rare car: Ralph lauren v12 vantage with manual conversion, Keen safari, countach (not to mention rare spec)...what the hell are you talking about, imbecile?
@@R-Tap that color is awesome, the tires are awesome, the fact that it's MODERNIZED makes it awesome... How could this car not be cool? If the waiting list is over 40 cars long, too bad. That literally proves you wrong
I think it's because on the podcast, he sometimes comes across as rude and interrupting. That and his family's money. He could be seen as an asshole, basically. But, from what people who have interacted with him irl say he's actually a pretty decent guy who is humble and genuinely passionate about cars and car culture.
He sometimes comes across as preachy and overtly antagonistic to other's opinions. On Joe Rogan's podcast, a lot of the time he acted like a bit of a know-it-all and was very negative about things like Tesla, etc... And it felt to me like he did it to gain credibility. But no one really likes to listen to someone being antagonistic for 3 hours. A little positivity and humbleness doesn't hurt. That said, I don't dislike the guy. But to say "I don't understand why everyone loves to hate on Matt" comes of as a little naive. opinionated people will always rub others the wrong way from time to time, and that's fine. Just don't always love everything they're doing no matter what.
I've met and chatted with Matt in LA an he is one of the nicest most knowledgeable car people I've ever met. I'm glad WCCS is finally done and wish him nothing but success!
Matt is a true purist. Most guys park the vanquish and the countach in the garage and wait for it to appreicate in value, but he has "lambo exercise day". He makes time every week to enjoy what what gives him joy, regardless of racking up miles and I love that.
Matt you are a super cool guy and your show gave alot of grass roots Car owners their time to shine on your show including the the tuning guru Bisi himself. Even tho I am now seeing it a year after. I hope your venture nothing but blessings ahead.
It genuinely made me happy watching a car nerd (and i say so in the most complimentary way possible) talk about his dream garage and show around everything he's ever wanted for his cars
Congratulations man! It's inspiring to see someone who has followed through with his passions start seeing his dreams come true right before his very eyes. Fantastic.
When I first saw him years ago on the Drive channel I thought he looked like a guy who really wanted to look tough. You know the look: Dark clothes, matt black sunglasses (never take them off) and a leather jacked to make you look beefy, but you're actually just fat. No disrespect to the man now - I wish him all the best. But he got to know how he looked back then.
Matt is awesome, This guy made a garage for himself and anyone else who LOVES cars as much as he does...And being an Electrician, Seeing all the work that went into this place...Blows my mind! I would've loved to be on that job!
Yep, he said that long term storage goes on the top and he cars that move more often go on the bottom. He also built an app so you can set your pickup time and they will have it ready for you.
Matt has watched this video at least 3 times now, and repeatedly thought to himself..."damn, you're so right...man I just LOVE this guy, if I wasn't him I'd have to be taking notes". Great accomplishment getting occupancy though...I'm sure that was a real blast.
I remember when Pioneer had the Countach travelling to audio stores, I don't remember if it had the CD player in it, but it probably did. No one was allowed to sit in it, but as a preteen, I got to breathe in it while they were setting it up at the store my dad worked at. Good times.
Dude - I love how your cars are all older vehicles... and drive em! not to mention the very cool back story with the Aston. I agree it will be worth a lot in 20 years. Very cool collection! Do you still have have the Merc coupe too? Congrats on the new facility too! Looks superb!
Hahahah you gotta love Matt. "Let me give you a tour of this awesome garage I built" Proceeds to spend 80% of the video talking about his cars 😂 Boy oh boy how I envy that office and that view.
The title of the video says Matt Farah of the Smoking Tire's Collection, as in car collection not garage collection. I would have been disappointed if I clicked on the video if he had spent 80% of it talking about his facility and only 20% talking about his cars.
My most fondest memory of Matt was when they were doing the "First to get a ticket challenge" on Superspeeders... He's pulled over and Rob goes flying past him as the cop throws the i.d. back in the car and says, "It's your lucky day!". Wishing you all the best Matt!
I've been following you since you were showing up here and there on the car show with Derek DeAngelis. You've come a LONG WAY since then. Great vid for a great garage. Congrats!
Funny how small the world is sometimes. I had wondered what happened to Leh Keen as I have the GT2 he drove to victory of OLOA. I hadn't seen much recently from him and that explains it. Nice facility, Matt.I feel so inferior with only stacking 2 cars high in the midwest where land is plenty.
Great video! Watched the whole build. (And everything TST) .. Sadly the good Sir has made it clear that the facility will be media dark after the "grand opening". Makes sense given its purpose. Cheers to Petersen for the coverage and Mr Matt for the tour!
Yeah because the owner of a red Ferrari is worried people will look at him. Please most of the cars in this facility are cries for attention anyways. You think the owners would be sad to be featured on RUclips? It would make their day.
