- In this tutorial we'll continue the chipping process, but this time with dark grey colour representing chips that went all the way through the paint, showing the raw steel underneath. I'll also add some damage to the tactical numbers.

Hey guys, so I quickly realised that splitting the chipping process into 2 videos might be too much, so next time I'll document this process (both light and steel chips) in one video. Hope you'll enjoy it anyway!
One tip concerning chipping would be really REALLY helpfull:
How to prevent your back from aching? This step takes sooo much time, even though I for sure don't take as much time as you do, I'm really in the mood for an hour-long massage afterwards ;)
Also:
In the past I used a dark grey color for chipping as well. But then I looked at heavyly worn machines like excavators and now I'm using a mix of gun metal, matte black, glossy black and a dark, rusty red-brown. That mix looks pretty much like that "not actually rusty, but still oxidated blank metal".
But after all that's just my taste and your technique and choice of colours speak for themselves.
Taking a break every hour or two does the trick :)
this was a great discovery. i haven't built any tanks yet but i can use these as tutorials for gundams

That'll take a few episodes :) For now it would just get in the way and I might damage it while handling the model. So next time it'll be rust tones, then detail painting and then the track.

Good point. The hairspray technique is up to the brushes to give you the effect unlike painting by hand.

@@NightShiftScaleModels Yes, I love KingSpook and also Chilling Tales for Dark Nights. Also other spanish narrators such as Ralatos de la Noche. And the 24/7 CreepsMcPasta radio is also a choice for long working nights.
KingSpook is one of my favs too. I'd recommend Mr. Nightmare, Corpse Husband (he unfortunately stopped uploading but has amazing deep voice!) and for long nights I prefer Lets Read! or Mortis Media, they upload long videos and Mortis uploads every single day. And then when it comes to fictional scary stories, CreepypastaJr, NaturesTemper and Operation Insomnia and also the greatest of them all MrCreepyPasta.

I was never a fan of the current fad of over weathering like the Mij Jimenz school of thought? I like to keep my model somewhT pretty if you know what I mean. On sci fi models I do apply a lot of weathering but not on my armor models which I keep to a minumum? I love your models because you apply just the right amount of weathering and in a controlled fashion which results in a "pretty model". The one thing I will never model is tanks in heavy mud. Why cover up all that extra detailing you' ve applied just to cover it up in mud. Just my opinion ! Looking forward to more videos- they are very entertaining with your humor. Grazie !

Thank you! To be fair - I mostly don't. The only time I have my window wide open is when I prime the model with a spray can (Mr. Surfacer smells a lot). When I'm airbrushing, I sometimes have the window slightly open, except summer when it's really hot and my AC is on. The remaining techniques are relatively smell-free, except when working with large amounts of enamels. I actually got a bad headache when creating dust and mud on this model, because I used enamels, which I normally don't use as I like to create earth effects with acrylics. So yeah, enamel thinners are my weak spot, but I'm pretty immune to lacquer fumes. I'm definitely not a shining example for workspace safety! (a ten komentár v angličtine je super nápad, rešpekt!)
Night Shift I use only acrylics for painting but have problem with airbrush cleaner, surfacer and thinners for enamel weathering so that is why I asked. They smell a lot. Thank you for answer, appreciate it. And just carry on! (just for fun - Iast month I tried to manage the situation - I sprayed surfacer in basement of a prefab house where I live and then got banned by other people because of smell. So now I am waiting for spring to be able to spray on the balcony...)
Yes spraying outside is a good option, I remember doing that a few years back when I was using alternative products for primer, such as car filler, gloss black enamel spray etc. I sprayed those in my garage or in the backyard. Back in elementary school, about 15 years ago, my classmate used to paint his airplanes in his room and then put them on the balcony to dry. I think it was his B-17 that got blown away in the wind. RIP

@@ceasarspartacus It's okay mate. They are actually unfilled gaps, as the wheels are made from 2 pieces. I tried to hide them as best as I could :)
