- Chipping is a controversial technique, but it's my all-time favourite. It allows you to add more visual detail, contrast and texture to your models. In this tutorial I'm going to show you how I approach the first layer of light superficial chips painted by brush. Acrylic paints are great for this job, but I also use oil paints and the speckling technique.

Your channel is amazing! Thanks for all of these. Everything's so concise and easy to understand and the results are incredible! Plus, you're hilarious.
I'm doing a Locomotive by Italeri - a kit made or broken by the weathering. This videos are invaluable. Thank you!
Your video is awesome. Explain everything so well. Please make more of these. Thanks!!
This series is epic! Excellent work, and thank you so much for the videos :)
watching these chipping is like watching master painter at work ....beautiful chipping .....
Just found your channel, thank you for the videos. Have a wonderful holiday.
Your brush control is incredible and your tutorials are so helpful love this channel!
This is artistry pure and simple. Epic! And wonderfully made videos too. Close-up, in focus, clearly described. Superb.
5 years with one brush and still a fine point?? you are a sorcerer!
Wow, amazing! Fantastic work and an excellent demonstration of techniques! Thank you Martin!
Beautifully done mate, I can only aspire to this level.
Martin you are a chipping wizard if I ever did see one. This is probably the most challenging part of the weathering phase for myself. I've always thought less was more, but hell, the more the merrier. Watching those chips multiply was extremely satisfying. I must invest in a good natural brush with a fine tip! Please sir carry on!
Another excellent video Martin! It's a great series so far. Cheers!
Nearly every time at the end of your videos I think,..'humm he's gone too far and lost the reality of the model' (if possible with a ball tank). The chipping looks too bright and almost new. Dying to see your darker effects in next video. Fantastic video series buddy
Very nice videos Martin ! <3
Thanks for informative video
great!
I've gotta laugh. I just finished watching another RUclipsr (sorry Night Shift, I do look at other content) and they were a native English speaker. I find your content easier to understand lol
Very impressive. One of the best channels focusing on scale models, though there are lots of other good channels.
I am watching the light chipping and I sort of see it; but then the horizontal scratches are added and I'm like "ooooooooh I see it now!"
