The reason why you can use glass slabs and clear quarts for lanterns is because of the light level. Using a lantern made out of clear quartz is less bright than out of glass. You can replace the quartz glass with clear like you would with colored glass. Also if you use either a gold or silver plate you can make your lantern shine brighter. Same way you place glass in lantern.
You can also craft other colors of glass , Blue takes lapis lazuli - if you ever find enough. Cinnabar for red glass - There is a very rare actual smokey quarts that makes a darker tinted glass. Olivine is not that rare , its sorta on par with quartz veins, just in peridotite regions. Overall, great intro to glass making though!
Ugh, you have to destroy the bloomery to recover the glass? Doesn't seem worth the hassle for so few finished blocks. Heck I'm still struggling to grow flax and store food for the winter.
I saw a youtube build video where someone removed the black borders on glass. Is it a feature or do you think he just manually chiseled all the black parts.
This video will help you make the glass to bring light to those dark mud houses

Oh!!! Makes total sense. Thank you
Both versions on the handbook say they have ,if i remember correctly, 13 light points.

Thank you for the comment and the watch
That charcoal sound.
There's diagonal glass sheets on the latest version screenshots, I thought that would be explained but nope 😢
Diagonal glass sheet? The next update? Send link!!
I did not know about the color glass change. Nice! Thank you
Thank you for this! My kitchen was like a cave and now I have windows. =)
It always surprises me how a couple of windows in VS can change the whole room. ☀

@@dracsfantastic - For you maybe, but I'm not feeling it. My patience is limited.

Yes, if you chisel glass, it will remove the black boarder.
Thanks for the helpful video Dracs. Just learning this stuff so it comes in handy.
Your welcome
Great video, one of your best yet I reckon. Informative commentary with just the right amount of quick witted humour
Thank you
Silktouch to move? ;) Seriously, can you move them once placed and how?
Silktouch for the win!! Glass in VS is much more forgiving, than MC. It is removed in full block form and can be replaced. It is nice.
