I have 24K Miles on my 2016 Legacy 3.6R it's 1 year and a week old. Best gift I've ever given myself. Note exceptional refined build quality. I hope a Flat 8 Legacy coupe with a little more leg room is available in 3 years when this one pays off
Daniel weatherford It really is a well built vehicle. Glad you're enjoying the car. I wish Subaru would coke out with a boosted flat 6 motor for these! The motor has so much potential!
Thank you very much! I am glad you enjoyed the review! I can certainly make a full detailed review of all the interior controls on the Legacy Limited when there is an available vehicle to review at the dealership. The Forester XT I reviewed has a similar, if not more, loaded option and I can do a detailed review of that vehicle if that is of interest?
I have a white 2017 Legacy 3.6 Limited I just bought. It is if you are reviewing my car. I am not sure I am using the Auto-Dim rear view mirror correctly. I am finding the rear view mirror dose not shield my eyes nearly as well as traditional rear view mirrors do. I am wondering is there is away to cut down the amount of light that is reflected from the rear view mirror? My new car rides silky smooth, the visablity and seat comfort are the best out of the other sedans I test drove such as the Fusion and Impala.
The only suggestion I have is to make sure the power button on the Auto-Dimming mirror is turned on. There should be a green light on if it is powered. I do not believe there are multiple settings for the dimming. The one I had in the Legacy and now in my STi seem to work great. However I cannot compare to other manufacturers as Subaru's Auto-Dimming mirror is the first I have had. The car is incredibly smooth and comfortable. It really feels luxurious inside. Very few hard plastics inside.
I have had this car for less than a week and I have learn how to use its technology. I have found the power button on the mirror today which I may have turned off by accident which is now back on. I am suspecting that its rear-view mirrors cool technology may likely be not as effective as the old-school manual adjust rear view mirrors. I am most impressed with this car so far. I agree with you that this car is silky smooth.
Thanks for the review, very well done overall , not going to reiterate what others pointed out. I drive a 2016 3.6R here in Australia and the only difference is you don't get heated rear seats in our model. Not a problem considering where i live the average temperature is usually not less than 20 degrees c at anytime anyway. It is a great car to drive most of the time. The Australian version has a slightly sportier suspension tune and sits very flat on corners. It does mean the ride is a bit stiffer as a result though so you do feel more bumps at low speed. Now that the new Imprezza is out on a whole new platform though i am disappointed in the 2016 model that subaru didn't keep this as technologically advanced as the Imprezza. It makes zero sense selling a car at a considerably lesser price to a 3.6R yet having it not only quieter but also far more comfortable with even more leather inside the cabin than the top of the line Liberty. Due to this i feel i can't trust Subaru anymore so this will probably be the last car i buy from them. The 3.6R has a sweet motor but it is overpriced in every other regard for what it offers and appears to have just been totally forgotten by Subaru as they could care less with keeping it current with other cars it is up against. I have mine fully optioned including JDM black sports grille. Colour is Lapis Blue pearl . It certainly gets admiring looks from people when it is shining in the sun. Great looking car in this colour. I agree with you that Subaru needs to hurry up and lift it's game as from what i can see there is no new Liberty until 2019 and that is way too long in the current climate.
Thanks for your reply! I appreciate the feedback! I agree Subaru needs to really start focusing on their weak points, and adhere to what the consumers are looking for at best. The competition is so strong in the automotive industry. Personally I think it was a nice start with what they produced with this Legacy 3.6R model, especially in the limited trim. The model we get in the US is actually incredibly comfortable, because we do not get a sportier suspension. Going over a speed bump I feel absolutely no jerking or bumping. The engine is great, though it is highly lacking the power for its size and class. However it seems as though Subaru focuses on one model line up at a particular time. The Impreza was just updated. Next they are changing their sport line-up with the WRX and STi with their new global hybrid initiative, which is set to debut in 2020. I have faith in Subaru as they have been slowly adapting and changing, however they really do seem to be taking their time.
I suppose this car carries a premium price since most people buy the medium tier models. for as much as I would want one. I think I would get a 4 cylinder and modify on my own. have you test drive the car in rain and snow? would like to hear your feedback
I have only driven the 3.6R Limited in the video, as it was my personal car at the time, in the snow and rain. The car handles beautifully in both. The car came with all season tires and it did very well here in New England weather. With snow/winter tires i'm sure it would be unstoppable. The heavier weight of the car helped keep it planted to the road in snowy conditions as well. Regarding which engine size to get, that is all preference. They are both unique and well built in their own ways. However I can only speak for the 3.6R as I have not driven the four cylinder yet.
This is kind of a picky complaint, especially because you may not realize you're even doing it. Often, especially when you breath in, you make a ticking sound with your mouth. After the first couple dozen times you do it, it gets annoying.
Thanks for the feedback. I definitely noticed that as well. I will be more conscious of that in future videos and make sure to avoid making those sounds. Sorry about that.
Anytime! Glad I can help! These are great cars. If I didn't have the mod bug or urge to drive stick I would've kept mine for sure. Really gives higher end luxury cars a run for their money.
5 years later. Still relevant

Good review thanks. The best part was about the cruse control. I would like to see a video using all the controls of the car's interior.

I love my 3.6R. Wish they hadn’t changed to turbo for new model.
What color does the interior ambient lights (the buttons on the steering wheel, on the door, and center console) turn to at night? Is it red or white?
Mostly orange/red background glow on buttons. Climate control and surrounding buttons are red/orange glow. Gauge cluster is blue though.

It wasn't a problem - just thought you'd want to know.
