And OSCARS!!! Some of the cast members like Dominique Jackson and Billy Porter, I had found out that it was very traumatic for them to play certain scenes because it had hit them very close to home. Which I believe it was why they were able to play their characters so well, because of how authentic they were being. It was like the creators already knew the whole cast members' stories and they already knew who they wanted to pick to for it to had be so authentic. Like, for example, Dominique said in an interview that I saw where she was saying the scene about "her mother" on the show was so traumatic for her that her partner and others had to try to break her out of the memory of it. And I'm glad Angel had said what he said, because in certain parts of the show, it almost felt like it was a documentary of someone's life or a couple of lives that they had made into a scripted show. I still watch it frequently. They HAVE to bring this show back out.
I noticed Indya's emotional reaction when Tamron brought up the exclusion of trans actors during awards season. It was a crime that she and MJ were not nominated for this show. I feel in a lot of ways MJ almost carries this show and Indya delivers an incredibly honest and real performance every time she is on screen.
Billy really sucked up the accolades for the show and seemed to feel as if it was his just due. If he’s been truly thinking along inclusionary lines and wanted to stay in line with the shows original purpose, he would’ve stood up long ago for his trans colleagues. However, he just soaked up the awards and recognition without pushing back on how the show was received.
Mj does not carry the show lol. Angel and lil Papi and mostly pray tell carry it. Be honest girl

As a gay Man I don’t have any gay friends. And I didn’t think I could relate to the gay community. And watching this show brought me to tears and to happiness and I really connected. And realized I’m not alone
By the time you are 40 all of your straight friends will be gone to start their own families.
It is important to have gay friends. But it is more important to have real friends!
Find positive aspects in the gay community.
Do charity and volunteer work.
Be the gay man you want to meet.

I’m 33 and have 5 of my friends who I been friends with since I was 7 years old they all married or kids and we all still get together on weekends or holidays or vacations and enjoy each other! All my gay friends are lesbians because the gay guys just don’t fit the person I am and makes me uncomfortable to be around because I’m not feminine nor throwing my gayness in everyone face… I am man first black second and then gay!! So let him find friends who genuinely accept and respect him no matter they gender!!

I’m a cishet woman who has always intellectually understood the struggles of lgbt but this show allowed me to see THEIR LIFE. I’m so appreciative.

They only have so much time and as an interviewer you have to move it along and timing is hard to control

I can’t believe there ending it after 3 seasons .every episode is a much watch . I won’t even pause and make a brew . I’m glued from the second it’s on .each character is interesting . The grit , the style ,the drama .Electra reads are iconic !

This show was amazing, and I'm heterosexual, it really open my eyes from being so closed minded to have compassion to the LGBT community. The show was so realistic I fell in love with all of the characters, pray tell, angel , Ricky, candy and then electra, the mother of evangelista I forgot her name, I cried so much on this show

This series was largely based on “Paris is Burning.” I wonder if it is coming to an end based on the time frame of that documentary? I am sad to hear it is ending. It is so good!!!! I hope there is a spin-off.
According to a interview I saw with Billy the show will end with the introduction of the antiviral cocktail and this was always the timeframe it would end in.

I have never been so moved by the portrayal of things that took place during that time. It was beautifully made - the acting, the whole production team, the scripts.. just so phenomenally done. I'm devastated it had to end, but I understand. Every person involved in this show deserves every award possible - but they already have the greatest reward of all - knowing they educated people, brought people together, and represented their communities impeccably. Tamron is a horrible interviewer. She does most of the talking. She gives a speech. Then she asks a question and she answers her own question and then asks "Dont you agree??" Please let your guests do most of the talking. Most important...listen to your guests. Its not all about you Tamron.

I hear you. Because every segment is perfectly timed for completion, then the slew of commercials, then a whole new topic afterwards, etc, if host thinks the answer is taking a bit long or dragging, they always jump in and "MOVE IT ALONG." Alot of times, a producer is hollering in Host's ear when they notice time is running long and instruct to jumpin and move it quicker.. I KNOW it's annoying for us listening :(

Pose is an amazing show! It taught us so much and we will keep learning from a show like this.
Not sure if Tamron was afraid that Indya would go off into long diatribes or what but it was annoying and rude how she would ask Indya a question and then pivot to Angel by interrupting her every single time. Her leading questions makes it seem like she had an agenda for this "interview" and it's annoying.
Can we get ONE HOST who LISTENS, more than they talk? Talk (Guests) Host (interviewer) .... She left so much on the table, sermonizing instead of allowing them to tell their story, THEIR WAY.
Which is why they didn’t have to answer (as many have given as an excuse of Tamron cutting Indya off mid sentence). ☕️

She kind of cuts everyone off, it’s a little annoying but I’m used to it watching her everyday.
This show brought so much about the community to light for everyone
I definitely felt a way about MJ, Indya, and Angelica being excluded. I am happy the show opened some eyes and gave others strength to live their truth. I have to say, I do feel privileged in the way I was raised. I’m a cis woman who grew up in 80’s, 90’s Chicago, and where my privilege comes in is that I was raised near, among, and around all sorts of people. I grew up seeing people of all races and orientations, including people that looked like me, so I never had the sense that I couldn’t be whoever I was or that I had to hide. As a kid, my world included gay, straight, and trans folks before I could even understand or associate those labels with anyone. It also meant that me coming out as bi was no big deal, and was, in fact, one of the most anticlimactic moments of my life. What I got was a mix of “We know.” and “Who cares?” I was a freshman in high school at the advent of the AIDS crisis, and I was at the Act Up and other protests here. I lost too many friends and remember that fear and frustration that nobody seemed to care that we were losing so many good people. I was a kid then, and it was my first real understanding of inequity. As far as being Black, I was still young enough to think of racism as a dying entity or something falling away (sooo young 😅), like the slavery my great great grandfather dealt with gave way to the dogs and fire hoses my mom dealt with, and that by the time my grandkids were born they would know nothing of discrimination. I know...I was naive, and I have to laugh at myself. As I’ve gotten older, though, I realize that it was a privilege to be able to be myself, to have the freedom to explore without judgment, and to have always felt safe and loved. It was also a privilege to see and talk to people of all kinds and see myself among them, as well, especially at a time when there was no jumping on the internet. Some people feel so alone and misunderstood, as kids and adults, and it breaks my heart.
i wish Tamron would have given them more room to talk and to actually respond to her questions with their own clear answers instead of just agreeing with her.

I think its fair to say that Billy is telling my story as well. What we went theough in the 80's and the fact that some of us survived are still dealing with the memories in a daily basis.

Why does Tamron keep interrupting Indya to cut to Angel and even asking him questions regarding trans people when he is cis-gendered. She doesn't even let Indya finish her statements.

I've been reading the comments because I want to see what people say that love the show as much as me and my fam. My cousin, who attended the balls during that time, contracted Aids and passed away, so a lot of this show hit home for me. I'm also upset how they were treated by Tamron. If there was a time issue which I understand, she should have talked less and given her guest that time to finish their statements. Instead she cut them off mid sentence. Especially Indya who wasn't feeling it, I could tell. Watch it again n watch Indya. Not good Tamron. Let's hope there's a spun off guys🤞🏾

I love these actors and will truly miss Pose!! I was moved to comment on Tamron’s tendency to not let Indya Moore finish her thoughts before going to Angel. Apparently, others are noticing it, as well. I’m wondering if, perhaps the feed from the Dominican Republic, where Indya is located, is providing a delay, because Tamron’s conversational rhythm with Angel is working. Just a thought...🧐

She's trying to guide the actors to say what she wants so she can follow up with her pre-planned questions. Which I understand. But it becomes more obvious when the interviews are so short. It seems like cut off after cutoff even though Most interviewers do this.
Oprah interrupts as well and then insets her experience in the interview.

Dang, Tamron, were your guests there to be interviewed or to hear what you had to say? if you're going to conduct an interview, be patient and at least give your guests, in this case, Angel, a chance to answer the question in its entirety without cutting her off.
I love how honest the actors are. I felt that Tamron was sincerely connecting and was genuinely tuned in but she sometimes didn't give the actors a chance to finish answering. But overall, props to everyone. 😄

Such a lovely interview, thank you for focusing on the love and joy as well as the oppression they face
in the production of a live interview, there are time limits. A show producer is on the side cueing, signs or in the earpiece, telling the hosts to move on, what to ask next, to wrap up, even change the direction of the question. She is not cutting them off on purpose, she actually is trying to get in as much as she can.

Why only 3 seasons? So much potential for new story lines because as in real life, "The kids keep coming to the city". I love that we got to see the backstories in season 3. Please give us more seasons.
It’s a period piece that depicts their lives at the beginning and height of the AIDS epidemic. The story is told.
