these are the worst form of single-use plastic. he has made single-use plastic un-recyclable. no recycling centre will spend time removing the electronics from the bottoms of these. This is irresponsible.

@@swegatron2859 I'd disagree. I was born in 1982 and I clearly remember that already in elementary school they were bombarding us with lessons in recycling. People started being concerned about it in the 70's. Of course this thing grew over the years but it's not like everyone was non-chalant about it in the 2000's. Creating unnecessary waste wasn't ok even back then.
And with a battery in them. What???
I still don't understand, why an entrepreneur still choose to let go 30% instead of initial 8% for such amount, when ur already existing business can generate it in a year or so y don't dey reinvest and partner with retailer ?

It's ridiculous enough to have one time use cups. To add a one time use battery is absurd/immoral.
But they're not soley single use - house partys/parents would reuse these plenty. Plus its not a farcry away from developing recycling process to remove the batteries. Nothing immoral about you pearl clutcher.
Nightclubs and bars would love these. The problem is, disposing of the plastics. Perhaps using recyclable materials. But how can you create recyclable batteries?

I always find it funny when they offer like 8 percent of their company and expect all this extra help from the dragons AFTER they invest the money...basically asking them to help build your dream while only getting a tiny slice and PAYING to help you...
They are paying to help themselves. Make the company 10 times bigger and now your 50k investment is worth half a million

I don't understand why this would be an investment. The patent he has on this can't be that good if there are already competitors doing it, looking very similar. I think Deb hit it on the head, that there were already competition doing very similar things at the time. I'm surprised they didn't ask more questions about the patent itself, or maybe they just didn't show it.

I know what these products need - a wireless charging dock (for restaurants, with multiple docks built in)
Make them reusable and rechargeable + Waterproof
If possible, with water resistance in mind, a replaceable battery would also be a great feature
In that case they need to be made of glass maybe with a plastic base insert.
For all those who care about the environment this video is from the times when no one did. Have you seen the dragons? They look infinitely younger than they do now. Bet you two of the dragons on the newest season were in elementary school when this was filmed.

anytime I watch one of these pitches, the first thing I do is punch their numbers into my calculator to figure out the entrepreneur’s proposed valuation.
the quickest way to do it is cross-multiplication - you multiply the amount requested by 100, and then divide it by the percentage of equity on offer. so for this pitch, it would be:
amt requested - £40,000
equity offered - 8%
40,000✖️100 🟰 4,000,000
4,000,000➗8 🟰 500,000
and so the entrepreneur’s proposal values his business at £500K. peter’s offer for 30% equity values it at ~£133K. if peter had accepted the 25% counter-offer, it would have effectively valued the business at £160,000.
