In my opinion I would like to see Rita get the new softer shoulder restraints found on Maverick & Storm Runner. With lap bars I can imagine riders would get severe neck injuries considering how sharp the first turn is.
my home park is heide park in germany, so it always surprises me that rita gets so much hate, because heide park has desert race, a near clone of rita, which, while short and underthemed, gives an amazing ride imo edit: looking at the comments, i see that someone already made a similar point
Rita is a great ,fun coaster, in a wrong park. Look at Desert racer at Heide park, it fits that park and everyone likes it ( it's a Rita clone). They just had to build it in Chessington or something like that, and build Intamin blitz in AT
Completely agree, I feel like Alton Towers never really cared enough to invest in a large attraction at the time (like a blitz) which would explain why Rita was never a SW project
from the rita povs that i've seen, desert race seems to have slightly improved profiling, the third s-hill is sharper and it has another bunny hill instead of just the final breakrun, it's also a couple kph faster according to rcdb, although i don't think that would really be noticeable
I think the way they rethemed the ride to fit into the area is just a fairly lazy excuse that they couldn't really be bothered - if they actually improved the whole experience with new scenery and head-chopper moments I'd say that instantly puts Rita higher up on the list.
@@HeartlineDrop definitely, there’s quite a few missed opportunities. Aside from the launch, the best part of the ride is the left turn going down the first airtime hill. The speed you gain is great and it throws you out of your seat before pinning you back in. Would be cool to see some extra theming and like you said ‘head chopper moments’ around that area of the ride. It really does feel lazy with the retheme that they did.
The worst thing about Rita is the fact I really enjoyed it when I rode for the first time recently. I knew people hated it, and yet I still enjoyed the experience. Its biggest weakness is the lack of theming and how it’s never really fit in. It’s not a bad coaster and the g-force is brutal, but it just doesn’t stand out.
@@joshslater2426 exactly! Not having any true standout element or theme is what gives it 99% of the hate - its not a terrible coaster, or even a bad one, but it just doesn’t have the same recognition as The Smiler or Wickerman achieves which means it’s doomed to stay in that middling territory. Thanks for watching! 😎
I agree with your point and I think if they do retrack it and give it new trains I think they can reprofiled some bits and some bits like imagine a mosasaurus roll on Rita and some crazy ejector and even more crazy inversions would be one of the best in park and with theming will become on the best in the uk
100%! Taking some inspo from Velocicoaster with the Mosasaurus roll and headchoppers would bring it to a whole new level! Will they every do something like that or just remove it - I guess time will tell.
Honestly after expecting rita to be bad from all that id heard, after i went on it i loved it. The launch actually really surprised me, having icon being the only other launch id been on so it was cool.
Funnily enough, I actually quite enjoyed Rita as just a fun, kinda exhilarating filler ride with some okay-ish airtime. BUT I also think a large part of that was it basically being walk-on both times I rode it. If that hadn't been the case, I think it would have ranked much lower, since this ride doesn't warrant much of a wait.
Rita is a good ride. But it's in the ring park. Put it in flamingoland or pultins Park it would own the park. Alton needs something special and Rita isn't.
Rita fans fuming rn
Punching the air rn
What fans 💀

To be fair I feel like that would be the best route to go down, thanks for watching 👌

It's definitely on my bucket to try out at some point - it'll be pretty interesting to see how the two coasters compare
I live in Virginia and I remember oblivion before Griffin. 😅🤣😂😅🤣😂
Well this is awkward... 🤣

@@mikaoleander That doesn't change the ride that much, it improved it, but really it's still Rita, just in the park that's supposed to br
Rita remains a good ride in my eyes, but isn’t worth a wait over 20 mins. Also the theming is shocking, and doesn’t fit with the Dark Forest.

I love it when Rita said “It’s Rita’ing time” and Rita’d all over the cross valley coaster proposals!
My favourite part was easily when Thirteen said "they're right behind me, aren't they" and got absolutely Rita'd to oblivion (quite literally)

Solution: Relocation
But tbh, Rita needs to have that first airtime hill replaced with an inversion
I could see a snappy zero-g roll fitting in beautifully ngl

Oh yeah 100%, can't deny that the launch on Rita is way more powerful than it looks, especially when comparing it to a bunch of LSM launches out there
Guys, he posted it on March 31st. Technically he isn’t joking guys!!!
Shhhh.. 🤫
Did you know that thirteen was going to be a part of ug land
As interesting as that could have been I think i'm pretty happy with the spoopy vibes we ended up with tbf

If the ride has a short queue then it's an easy must-ride, but when the time starts saying over an hour... I think I'll pass
ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR MIND
YES.
I love this ride
In recent years, the ride has been smoother, but the layout does nothing for me after the launch

It's biggest flaw is just how mediocre it is compared to all of the unique coasters surrounding it.. completely agree with you
False.
Wait what?
Rita is terrible
