Guys, I appreciate your comments explaining the meaning of the song, as you can see I clearly got bamboozled here so I missed a few words that do indicate that it's a struggle within yourself (I only touched on that very briefly in the part where Hyunjin is laying on the bed and who seems to be himself is standing on top of him). There is a line that says "Mic on" and the meaning is more about obsessing about your work and struggling to let go of their art rather than the obsessive relationship aspect that I mostly touched on. Plus there are plenty of scenes with them in front of the mirror, essentially fighting themselves. I wish I could get all of this in one go but sometimes the enjoyment of the video overcomes the need to dig deeper into the meaning, which SKZ is known for having a deeper meaning than meets the eye. But no regrets, I love when you guys drop some knowledge on me and I enjoyed the hell out of this song & MV and it's fun how literally moments later I can appreciate it on a deeper level when you guys share your thoughts!!!
Man I totally get it, don't worry, really, it happens, you're so good at catching all those details on every first reactions! I mean the best I can do whenever they drop a new M/V is "oh nice! music! visuals! dancing!", in monkey clapping style so😂 I usually need 4/5 rewatches to catch half of the things you see! You never fail to produce such amazing content with your reactions, so even though you missed the meaning a little it was still a very focused, detalied driven and very very entertaining video! I laughed so much at the faces you made 🤣
Chan always says that we can interpret their music whatever we want, so your interpretation wasn't wrong, you did catch the obsession, impulse, can't let go kinda feeling they have with their own work lol
I know I know, alternative title - Guy questions his orientation reacting to Red Lights. I'm not really there in reality but hey, I'm not hiding my expressions, can't really control those haha!
what's even more baffling is that this song. can be taken into different contexts... 1) A toxic relationship between couples 2) The inevitable relationship between idols and fans, or celebrities and the industry in general... and 3) The push and pull relationship with oneself and a person's own ego and shadow...
@@DGReacts right? if taken into different contexts, the meaning of both lyrics and representation changes exponentially... if it was the first, then it would be a very deep, dark and somewhat kinky interpretation.. the second, gives you a very in dept take about the industry they are in as idols and gives you this reality check that their status as idols isn't all as grandiose as they make it seem to be... and the third context, gives a more personally relatable interpretation that makes you self-reflect and be more aware about yourself..
@@irokimaori6426 It's truly beautiful, the many meanings SKZ and KPOP, in general, can show in a single MV/Song. I honestly didn't even think about the 2nd meaning, so great job in pointing it out! I was more on 1 and 3 but every single one of them makes perfect sense!
I wasn't ready BUT, the important thing is that I survived :) I think this MV was requested ever since I reacted to Thunderous which was my very first SKZ reaction, so I appreciate you guys' patience and I hope you enjoy this one :)
i recommed you to react to silent cry(its soo deep) the view, sorry i love you, surfin, and drive by stray kids next :) LOL I DON'T THINK I WAS ALIVE WHEN THIS WAS RELEASED THEY SLAYED (quite literally )
DG, I think you are absolutely right! Hyungin should definitely play The Crow!! He could definitely pull off Brandon Lee's part. We should start a petition!!!!!! 😊👍
I understant lol it's defnitely one of the mvs you need to watch twice to fully grasp the concept espicially given how distracting hyunjin and chris are with the aesthetics and the intense stares kfksj personally, that one line you mentioned through me off the moment I heard it and I had that /WAIT/ realization that this was deeper than it looked then them bringing back the scene where they were stuck obsessively staring at their own reflections at the very end confirmed my interpretation. I love that most skz content is all written and produced by the members themselves it's really refreshing to consume content where the performer is showcasing his own thoughts and ideas.
it has a different meaning than it looks :D They explained it. It looks like it's about a relationship but it's actually about a relationship not with other people but with themselves. it's a song about their dedication to work that turns into obsession, to the point where their passion for it won't let them rest and consumes their lives. Korean title translates as 'compulsion'. They're struggling to let go of work, but I think many can relate to a fight between your obsession and yourself. Like a lot of their songs, I think it goes much deeper than what you first see or what they hinted at. They play a person's different egos in the MV, I mean both of them represents alter-egos of a person. That's why they dance symmetric
Ohhhh that's so cool, cause I had a thought that it's them against themselves but I didn't go too much into it because of the nature of the video hehe!! Shiiiiiit, that's awesome!!! Thanks for letting me know!!
Although Hyunjin did admit that originally he and Chan wanted to do something sexy/sexual by nature and it started out that way. But they also said that there is a deeper meaning to the song as well, which is about obsession and compulsion as well. I love how when they were asked about the meaning behind the song Hyunjin said, "Originally we just wanted to do something sexy/sexual." and Changbin says, "Wait, you wanted to do something sexy WITHOUT us?" and everyone laughed. Then Hyunjin went on to explain that it was also about compulsion and obsession too. But originally they wanted to do something sexy/sexual and that's how the song got started. So technically it's both a sexy/seductive and sexual song and also about compulsion and obsession. What I really want to see is Hyunjin said they had to submit their own version of what they wanted the MV to be like before it was made. He said his first submission was rejected because they thought it was way too sexual by nature. So he submitted a tamer one which was accepted. I was like HYUNJIN UPLOAD THE ORIGINAL YOU SENT!!!!
I liked the video and your explanation! I think the beauty of SKZ's songs is that they can be interpreted in different ways, and the members even encourage this. There is no right answer. Regardless of what Chan and Hyunjin were guided by, each viewer must decide for themselves what the song is about.
I honestly love how sexy and yet ambiguous the song and video are and how much it affects people. The definition of unhealthy obsession captured on screen.
when chan and hyunjin sat to write the song , they agreed that the thing that they have in common is their passion and obsession with their work , when even if they don't have to produce or practice they find themselves doing it till morning . (there's a series called SKZ-CAMP HOWL IN HARMONY where skz got into 3 groups and write/produce songs so we see the process ) . of course as all skz songs it can be seen in different lights but that was their intention behind the song .
This song is a damn masterpiece! You can honestly interpret this in many different ways (which is the beauty of music and art). But this is one hell of a song! Skz never fails to impress me! They actually blessed us with an OT8 version of this during their latest concerts in Korea. It was just as amazing!
for totally selfish reasons i really want them to upload a dance practice to this song. their movements are so sharp, chan lifting hyunjin turns my brain into mush every time i see it, and their mirrored moves towards the end are executed so so well
What I think is interesting is the power balance between the two. Hyunjin is tied up, Bang Chan looks down at him in the bed, he's the one being "lifted up" but... In the last scene he's the one who has the power in the end over Bang Chan.
I think you did a really good job picking up on a lot of things here. Yes there is actually a core meaning about relationship with work/art but they did deliberately make it have multiple readings and they wanted to have it sound like they could be talking about a person too. You picked up so many moments they layered in there- like the scene with Hyunjin on the bed and Bang Chan standing over him. To a certain extent they play the doubles of each other and the video uses a lot of mirroring so in that scene you can read it as Bang Chan representing a person, or Bang Chan representing the aspect of Hyunjin that can suffocate him sometimes, or Bang Chan representing the art that keep Hyunjin chained in this exhausting yet thrilling pattern. It's a really clever video and one of my absolute favourites and you picked up way more that most people do first time I was impressed.
channie and hyunjin said that red lights is about their obsession with work but everyone can interpret it in own way!!! i love listening others opinions and interpretations on this one, also your voice is SO NICE TO HEAR
Ok just had to comment because I don't know anyone who loves The Crow as much as I do. 🙂 Clearly a man of good taste. Great reaction and breakdown as always.

6:28 Hear me out.... Hyunjin playing Sebastian in Black Butler.... seeing where I am going with this??? Anyone else know Black Butler and think Hyunjin would slay the part of Sebastian??
The crow is one of my all time favourite movies too 🖤 Great reaction, thank you Daniel. I do believe the song is more of an inner struggle with themselves, hence the mirroring in the video, but I could be wrong! I like your new hair!
You are absolutely correct actually, as some people have pointed out, which is beautiful! And thank you so much 🖤 Fun fact, my very first tattoo was a quote from The Crow "It can't rain all the time" :)
The guitar lick is by an old friend of Bang Chan's. I really enjoyed your reaction to this one. You (as was stated before) picked up a lot more than many other reactors. Bang Chan is my bias with Hyunjin and Han as my main wreckers but at anytime any one of the Kids can completely wreck my world. Than you for this one!!!!!
I disagree with the comments that it’s only about fighting with yourself. I think they very clearly leaned into that “codependent relationship” angle on purpose!
I think both interpretations were clearly done on purpose, and people trying to say people having the more 'sensual' interpretation are lesser than or just wrong rub me the wrong way xd
Hyujin would make an incredibly sexy Crow!! The Crow is one of my all time favorite movies and comic as well...I can fully picture him playing Brandon Lee's part as the Crow!!perfection!!!lets make that happen people!!!!😃
Probably, two years later, you already know what this song is really about, and that its meaning is not about relationships between people at all. And probably the comments already say what red lights talking about. There are many hints related to mirror choreography in the MV.
I'm late to this one lol but bangchan has always been open to interpretations about their music so your interpretation may not be on point but wasn't wrong too! As always you were very observant and intriguing to listen to!
This was amazing. I am so happy you reacted to it because you honestly have some of the best analysis on videos on YT. Also thank you for the Interview with a Vampire reference. No one else has mentioned so far but it’s one of the first things I thought about. And the Crow comment, I would love to see that. We need to get Hyunjin an acting role asap. Chan as well. These two make so much music together and so far Red Lights is the only track we’ve gotten (Channie if your watching bc we all know you do, tell Hyunjin to drop Beautiful and Spring please . We need those tracks.)
I loved to see you reacting to this one... seeing how mesmerized and also electrified by it was really interesting to see. Those boys have it, don't they? thanks again for the amazing reactions. Love you.
in korean 강제력 is gangjelyeog in English is compulsive. always amazing how you all accurately describe about the mv. sir you always surprise me this mv is really spicy 😊🥰
Well. Most of the people actually mistake the meaning of this MV lol. It's about their obsession with work. But people just see it as sexual, love and relationship.
Red Lights is a masterpiece, crazy seductive and maddeningly well done. Obsession. So good. To me it speaks of being overwhelmed. I watched Bang Chan reacting to the finished product and he was blushing so hard. Hyunjin did better, but I'd say even Chan got the sensual message very clearly, whether or not that was the songs original intent is is very sexy.
I loooooove your reactions. The way you are analysing everything is sooooo good. I hope to see more SKZ stuff from you. Maybe you could do a funny reaction too... I know you normally don't do this type of reaction but I think it would be tooo funny to watch this.
I always love, when people react to "red lights" for the first time. They are surprised about the visual of the M/V. It's also so different from their other songs, so it's kind of unexpected. Also I have another tips for songs you could react to(if you would want to of course😁), it's "The tortoise and the heir" (TTATH), "#LoveStay" by stray kids (TTATH is just a banger and #LoveStay is an amazing song dedicated to Stay, as you could figure out from the title) and the last one is "Wonderland symphony no9" by ateez (this is another version of original "Wonderland", it's a kingdom performance and the vocals are amazing and you will be surely shocked about their singing range). Anyways I have nothing else to say then I love your reactions, it always makes me relax 💜. I appreciate your work, keep going😁😁😊.
Everyone has already talked about the meaning so I'll skip that but to start OMFGVTNDRYHFGFF, FINALLY YOU COVERED THIS😫😭 im so excited to see your reaction!!! Edit: oh YOU WEREN'T READY, NEITHER WAS I AT FIRST 🤣💀🤯
This video has got to be one of my favorite 'branch-offs' of Stray Kids. I also like Lee Know/Bang Chan's 'Drive'. But the possible meanings of the video are: 1. The toxic obsession of one person on the other who just tries to live a free life. 2. THE FANS! SKZ not being able to quit due to the fear of letting down a large number of fans.
Great song, enjoyed your reaction and once again you spotted the various possible interpretations at first listen. Love your reactions! Can't wait for more
I believe that the red strings actually represent the legend of Akai Ito, which says that people destined for each other are "bound" by a red thread, the thread of destiny...
This MV was originally named "Obsession", but after the MV was posted for a while everyone began calling it "Red Lights" because of the song line that has been living rent free in everyone's minds.
I think the red string is symbolism to the fate ..in asian in general couple or ppl that are bound to be fated they tie up a red string to each other's pinky ...
I love, love, love this song, it's 🔥 in every way. The voices, the guitar, the dance 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻 This song was my most played song on Spotify last year, it's so good. And I love your reactions! Even though you weren't spot on with your interpretation this time, I still think you did a really good interpretation. And even though the artist wanted to tell a story, the audience will always interpret it in different ways, which is what you should be able to do with art, music etc.
The theme of control is in several of their songs Re Lights,Venom and Bck door but in the case of back door it`s not the full song meaning but only part the lyrics. Changbin says that he will take control over the body of the listener since they didn`t take good care of it and he "will make it all better".Also they often talk about the figh they and other people have with themselves, the inner stuggle that makes you run thru hndred scenarious and drown in anxiety especially when they feel not good enough, feel pressured to conform or are just lost and don`t know where to head to. As Alicia said the theme is also the obsession with music with creating,Stray Kids are known for being workaholics some of them more then others,Chan is also suffering from insomnia from ages so he sleeps little and basically lives in the studio, there is old interview with small company Changbin was par of for a bit before JYP [ It was so he can get audition for JYP he used it as stepping stone even tho he knew the things they ware teaching there rap whise and probably dance too since he danced too]. 2 people from that company outrigh described him crazy obsessed with music and production. The rest are also very dedicated and work on several things at once or just train to really late like Seungmin
you should see the brainstorming process for this song in this video if you're interested☺️!!! ruclips.net/video/j2qXVzk2apg/видео.html for the noeasy album, the members are divided into 3 sub-units & they had to make 3 different songs & the process each group are documented. i think it's super interesting!!! also if you want to see the brainstorming process for this mv you should watch this video: ruclips.net/video/_HclYiIuxUk/видео.html from minute 24:43 - 28:53. they get super involved & it's so intriguing to see them in their element ahahah🤩
i just rewatch all performance of KINGDOM and no doubt it's on another level if the scale of the season 2 of QUEENDOM is better than in SEASON1 it's NOTHING if you compare with KINGDOM . the set , the scale , the creativity , the money put in a show , the skills of males groups is untouchable . and STRAY KIDS is a huge part of it with ATEEZ / IKON/ BTOB / THE BOYS . STRAY KIDS EVERYWHERE ALL AROUND THE WORLD .
Another point to consider regarding tattoos, which are still frowned upon by much of Korean society- tattoos were used to brand criminals and slaves in many ancient cultures, including the Joseon Dynasty. It adds yet another layer-they’re slaves to themselves and their craft/obsession.
It is alter ego theme for the two ....as discussed but I also liken it to Hyunjin's struggle against him trying to come to terms with the love hate fan relationship when he took sabbatical...which Bang Chan is the fanbase where you are adored but at a high cost to both parties. He loves fans but it can be toxic...he tries hard but it isn't enough to please...fans want more and more they tease and demand...but neither can live without each others love and support....it comes with strife. Emotionally to physically it is inner turmoil and unbiased two way blackmailing.
lol glad that people have explained the song - but... if you want to dig into a song that is 100% about a toxic, abusive relationship *with another person* - Vixx's Voodoo Doll. (Gore warning for the actual MV, there's a clean version for the more squeamish. And yes, I'm serious, the MV is still rated 19+ because of the violent/gory content. One of the first to get that rating for non-sexual reasons.)
don't even get me started on red lights (no wonder it's an 18 or over MV) that MV made me feel things that I can't talk about here but just believe wen I say that's the kinda song I'd imagine being in a film like 50 shades of grey. On a side not my SKZ bias is Felix and my wreckers are Lee Know, Bang Chan and Changbin but Hyunjin is slowly becoming a wrecker aswell.. Also SKZ are my second ult group
I love your reaction so much You react carefully, the lyrics behind the meaning , Not Manny of reaction do that like your react I'm sorry for my Bad English
Haha. No one. Is. Ever. Ready. To. Watch. This. Video. Also... I know Chan & Hyunjin say what the song is about... but ALSO... they know what they made. O.o Hyunjin also said the music (non vocals) sounded like 50 Shades of Grey when they first heard it. They know what they did. I do like that they song has many meanings, as all good writing should (poetry, songs, etc). I like your interpretation. I also like the internal self given interpretation by Chan & Hyunjin. I... also don't think they could give another interpretation given S.Korea's... more puritanical views on "non-traditional" relationships.

Appreciate the amount of effort you put in your videos.
Great reaction! 😊
Thanks for another insightful reaction 🥰 and your hair looks 🔥
Hyujin would make an incredibly sexy Crow!! The Crow is one of my all time favorite movies and comic as well...I can fully picture him playing Brandon Lee's part as the Crow!!perfection!!!lets make that happen people!!!!😃
Probably, two years later, you already know what this song is really about, and that its meaning is not about relationships between people at all. And probably the comments already say what red lights talking about. There are many hints related to mirror choreography in the MV.
Thanks for another insightful reaction as always. SKZ is such an amazing group and I'm looking forward more of your reactions.
Love you.
❤️❤️
If I remember correctly Chan once said that the song is about the add/iction for working. By the way, I always like your reactions
in korean 강제력 is gangjelyeog in English is compulsive. always amazing how you all accurately describe about the mv. sir you always surprise me this mv is really spicy 😊🥰
Well. Most of the people actually mistake the meaning of this MV lol. It's about their obsession with work. But people just see it as sexual, love and relationship.
@@Akkarri well, you can't blame them. at face value, the song and music video looks like a sexy bdsm-esque performance
Like your hair color DG! Love this video!
bro yk what im gonna turn on your notifs BECAUSE I NEARLY MISSED THIS?? YT DIDN'T SHOWED THIS UP ON MY HOME PAGE
I loooooove your reactions. The way you are analysing everything is sooooo good.
I hope to see more SKZ stuff from you.
Maybe you could do a funny reaction too... I know you normally don't do this type of reaction but I think it would be tooo funny to watch this.
I love your reactions!
u reacting to stray kids is my new hobby
I enjoyed it a lot! thank you!!!!!!🔥🔥🔥
Loved your interpretations!
Wow!! The Crow is my favourite movie too 😲 You're right, Hyunjin would be amazing as Eric! What a cool idea!
Everyone has already talked about the meaning so I'll skip that but to start OMFGVTNDRYHFGFF, FINALLY YOU COVERED THIS😫😭 im so excited to see your reaction!!!
Edit: oh YOU WEREN'T READY, NEITHER WAS I AT FIRST 🤣💀🤯
I just wanna say that you look extremely gorgeous in the red light 🔥
Absolutely love this! Love your reactions to this video!❤❤❤🔥🔥🔥👀😘😘😘😍😍🥰🥰😍💯💯💯
This video has got to be one of my favorite 'branch-offs' of Stray Kids. I also like Lee Know/Bang Chan's 'Drive'. But the possible meanings of the video are:
1. The toxic obsession of one person on the other who just tries to live a free life.
2. THE FANS! SKZ not being able to quit due to the fear of letting down a large number of fans.
At this point. Who isnt crushing on Bangchan and Hyunjin.
RED LIGHTS !!!
You made a lot of sense! Loved your reaction! :)
at last 💙🏴
Best video breakdown. Love your reactions.
Honestly I really love the way you interpret the songs meanings❤️
HOLA PAPI 😂 Just found you and now I am binge watching. Thank you for all the reactions ♥
The more you scramble, the tighter the chains tighten
Great song, enjoyed your reaction and once again you spotted the various possible interpretations at first listen. Love your reactions! Can't wait for more
I believe that the red strings actually represent the legend of Akai Ito, which says that people destined for each other are "bound" by a red thread, the thread of destiny...
This MV was originally named "Obsession", but after the MV was posted for a while everyone began calling it "Red Lights" because of the song line that has been living rent free in everyone's minds.
Yessss Crooow! Hyunjin would be such a good Crow! I love this idea 🤩🤩🤩🤩 Let's recast the new Crow remake!
I think the red string is symbolism to the fate ..in asian in general couple or ppl that are bound to be fated they tie up a red string to each other's pinky ...
Love the intro btw
Closley seen....BangChan is the one side who wants to escape...Hunjuin is the part who wants to keep it
OMG THE REFERENCE TO BRANDON LEE'S THE CROW, I'M EMOTIONAL!!! Thank you, your reactions always make me SO HAPPY ♡♡♡ Also your new hair looks great
I love, love, love this song, it's 🔥 in every way.
The fact that this mv and Ateez’s Deja Vu came out the SAME DAY…. Idk how the staytinys survived
Oh damn!
We were dead. And buried. I needed a drink.
I just can't stop picturing Seungmin trapped in a hotel lobby somewhere and dying of laughter lol.
The rest are also very dedicated and work on several things at once or just train to really late like Seungmin
you should see the brainstorming process for this song in this video if you're interested☺️!!! ruclips.net/video/j2qXVzk2apg/видео.html
for the noeasy album, the members are divided into 3 sub-units & they had to make 3 different songs & the process each group are documented. i think it's super interesting!!!
also if you want to see the brainstorming process for this mv you should watch this video: ruclips.net/video/_HclYiIuxUk/видео.html from minute 24:43 - 28:53. they get super involved & it's so intriguing to see them in their element ahahah🤩
I love how people react to red lights 🤣
Why? Why? Just Why? Why did you have to put that image in my head? Hyunjin as The Crow Why???? 🙈🙈🙈❤️❤️❤️❤️
Divinos🇧🇷
-crush on them both like the rest of us lol
As always fantastic reaction! Maybe it's time for some Stray Kids guide? ;)
2:27 bangchan has GLOWING EYES (look closely)
i just rewatch all performance of KINGDOM and no doubt it's on another level if the scale of the season 2 of QUEENDOM is better than in SEASON1 it's NOTHING if you compare with KINGDOM . the set , the scale , the creativity , the money put in a show , the skills of males groups is untouchable . and STRAY KIDS is a huge part of it with ATEEZ / IKON/ BTOB / THE BOYS . STRAY KIDS EVERYWHERE ALL AROUND THE WORLD .
this song....
😳😳😳
Another point to consider regarding tattoos, which are still frowned upon by much of Korean society- tattoos were used to brand criminals and slaves in many ancient cultures, including the Joseon Dynasty. It adds yet another layer-they’re slaves to themselves and their craft/obsession.
exciting, intriguing, hot, very hot, sensual 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Thank you Hyunjin and Bangchan for gorgeous, greatest song and video 👏👏👏👏🙌🙌🙌
Hyunjin 😩
Real
PLEASEEEEEE react to AESPA SAVAGE nowwwww! They will comeback any time soon and u have to react to DREAMS COME TRUE too, do it now!
❤
I love your reaction so much
You react carefully, the lyrics behind the meaning ,
Not Manny of reaction do that like your react
I'm sorry for my Bad English
Haha. No one. Is. Ever. Ready. To. Watch. This. Video.
React to "First" by everglow. It has a epic war vibe to it, like it slaps you
2:02 did he said yeonjun??!??!?!💀
3:40 why he keep saying yeonjun hagsjhajah
He confused Hyujin with yeonjun or maybe that's how he is pronouncing Hyujin.
Yeah, that's how I'm pronouncing his name (Hyunjin), sorry 🙈
