- Adding a new bubble tip anemone to a nano aquarium is always fun...but adding a Chicago Sunburst Anemone is EVEN BETTER!

Just some info, the clowns don't actually build up an immunity to the stings. What they do is start to cover themselves in the mucus the anemone makes, once they get enough coverage the anemone starts seeing the clowns as just another tentacle so they don't trigger a sting (this mucus is also the reason the anemone does not sting itself). The funny dance the clown fish does is to ensure they keep themselves completely covered in the anemones mucus all the time. Remember this when handling the clowns with an anemone they are already hosting in, don't use a net to catch them if you are moving them with the host as this can lead to them getting caught by their host due to removing some of their protection with the net....

OOOO that's a great deal! I think the sunbursts do really well in the home aquarium which also makes a huge difference.

i think bta's are allergic to my big box fish lol, they always vanish in that tank :(
Maybe they are just chillin in the rocks!? This one disappeared on me the 3rd day I had it...just tucked away in the rockwork.
How long has your clown tank been running since you added the Chicago nem? I have a new 20-gallon tank that I want to add a nem to as well.
The tank is young which isn't normally recommended for nems. I'm right on the cusp of 5 months so I'm not too far off. I'd definitely add some fish before adding the nem so you get some nutrients into the tank. Do some quick research, I am by no means a nem expert so look around.
@@BahamaLlamaCoral I've got a couple of fish in the tank. I seeded it with live rock from my main display tank. Not in a rush at all. I was just wondering about the timeline on Your tank. Love the videos!

I had a friend who gifted me a Colorado Sunburst. But I made the rookiest mistake ever. Didn't add a nem gard. And it was shredded in less than 24 hrs. 😭

Yeah...the powerhead makes me a bit nervous. It has the "nem guard" on it but I don't trust that.

@@BahamaLlamaCoral I recently was the benefactor of the reefers code, BIG TIME! A local reefer was getting out of the hobby. He initially tried to sell his equipment, but after about 90 days of no real interest, he put it in his driveway with a FREE sign on it and posted it in our local club forum. I was lucky enough to snag the 60 Gal complete cube set up with a lot of high end equipment for free! Took my reef keeping to a whole new level...kessil lighting, Octo Regal skimmer, Maxspect gyre, the list goes on and on...thousands of dollars worth of equipment. His only request, that I pay if forward to someone else in the hobby in the future! I am a firm believer in the reefer code and will live by it!!!
We HAD one sunburst bubble tip anemone that was so beautiful and unique. Our clownfish is an asshole and didn't like it. That must've hurt it's feelings and triggered it's other personalities...to the tune of ELEVEN gorgeous sunburst anemones 😳 We have been overtaken to say the least 😂😂
Uno and Dos seem to still be a little timid about it. To be fair, I think the nem itself is still trying to find its anchor. 11 sunbursts has to be AWESOME!

Reefers Code is how this hobby survived back in the day. It's become a lot more commercialized these days, which is fine, but it's always good to continue some of the traditions. It just makes sense.
I have a green bta that has been struggling the entire time I have owned it but now it's almost dead (completely shriveled and only a couple very short tentacles left) any recommendations as to what I can try to do to save it as a last ditch effort?

My favorite nem is the CSB, Rainbow, or Black Widow BTA for sure!
Always interesting to see the different strains you have in the states. Chicago sunbursts I haven't seen but here in Australia this 'forest fire nem' is incredibly popular (and for good reason). Love the reefers code, gifting coral and seeing it thrive is great fun, and they get the pleasure of those specimens too :D

I’m also in Australia. This video was right up my alley because I also have a 10 gallon AIO dedicated to BTAs (and a single clownfish).
It is really odd we don’t get more variety of BT anemones here - surely more colour varieties than the standard forest fire, green and green with orange tips are being collected. I guess they’re all exported.

TURBO SNAILS! Absolute bulldozer and will move anything and everything not glued down - I actually lost my beautiful grape monti due to the bulldozer knocking a purple stylo frag onto it - but trust me when I say that 1 single Mexican turbo snail cleaned up my 15 gallon ugly stage in a matter of days, even the egg crate that I had in there. I was actually amazed
I've got a couple in there but the GHA just grew a bit too quick for them. I need to add a couple more for sure. Thanks for watching!
