Thanks to this list to remind me of the song "Rocky" by Frank Farian. When I grew up in the eighties, there were 4 songs I really loved and do love until today. "Johny Blue" by Lena Valaitis, "Conny Kramer" by Juliane Werding, "Zigeunerjunge" by Alexandra and "Rocky". Maybe I was a bit of a weird child, cause all these are sad songs, but they sounds great and I just loved the deep meaning. Until today I'm not really into this catchy but meanless songs which are on top of charts every year. Greetings from Berlin 😎
Led Zeppelin is not German but all these songs were no. 1 in German charts at that time. So don´t be surprised if there are a lot of international artists.
Best time of my life with the ultimative best music ever. Never before and after this decade we had so much positive vibes through music. Very weirdo that Disco with the Bee Gees, Chic and Donna Summer with #1 hits in the US, Australia, South America, North America, Africa and Asia rules the globe, only in Germany with four cheap cover version from four sixties black songs (Boney M.) occupied the charts. 😂
4:47 The Beatles started in Liverpool, but with a different line-up. They lost Stuart Sutcliffe in Hamburg who continued his Arts studies there, and iirc switched their drummer from Pete Best to Ringo Starr either during their last Hamburg stint or shortly thereafter. There are actually recordings of the Beatles, then going by the name of „The Beat Brothers“m as studio band for a British singer (can’t remember his name, but I don’t want to cheat by googling it… I believe Bill… something…) from their last Hamburg stint, including iirc a recording of „My Bonnie is Over the Ocean“.
At this time most german hits were sung in german. So the only two, which sung in english but were actually german from this list, were Les Humphries singers and Boney M. Guys, correct me if I missed someone.
Juliane Werding 3:51: Der Tag als Conny Kramer starb= The day, Conny Kramer died Her song has been covered several times...ig the Ruhrpottkanacken: the day ian stuart died 😂 It would be translated like: The day Ian Stuart died And all the punks were singing That was a great day When he finally ended up in a coffin If you dont know bout ian stuart Donaldson: He was an inportant member of the national Front in England 08:32 Michael Holm: Tränen lügen nicht means Tears dont lie It was also covered but changed into Dänen lügen nicht, which means Danes dont lie by Otto Waalkes
Fun Fact: Chris Norman (Lead Singer from Smokie) was produced partially by Dieter Bohlen (head of Modern Talking, the blond guy in track suit and guitar in older videos)
1:05 Actually, Woody Guthrie in the 1940s seems to have been the earliest popular recording - but the versions of The Animals (1964) and later on Frijid Pink (1970) were the most commercially successful versions.
@ Well, they were the first with that particular version of the lyrics and that particular melody… Guthrie‘s is also not the first one to sing about „House of the Rising Sun“, the lyrics seem to have been around in some version for at least two decades before his take on the song. I‘ve come across that song and the background story in a „Teach yourself how to play guitar“-book more than 35 years ago, and found it interesting enough to remember it.
(Guthrie‘s version can be found on YT, and it has a decidedly less intricate guitar melody; mostly chords… the chords though are similar to the ones you‘d use with the version by The Animals.)
10:15 fun fact: Frank Farian was the producer of both „Boney M“ and „Milli Vanilli“, and both acts were essentially dancers only lip-synching to studio music…
2:13 You are correct. It‘s actually the German title of the video… although, technically, they are only the Number One *Sales Charts* Hits for WEST Germany, as EAST Germany didn’t really have sales charts…

I like your German Music Reactions, go on with that

Agree, this music is like magic, timeless!

A number of years ago, the caller of my Square Dance Club said to a balded dancer: My pony is over the ocean!
I listen to there music till this day.
great reaction , go on
Thank you 🙌

Das sind alles grottenschlechte Songs aus meiner Kindheit, die ich Gottseidank vergessen hatte…und jetzt bohren sie wieder in meinem Gehirn…😂
🤣🤣🤣
Juliane Werding 3:51:
Der Tag als Conny Kramer starb=
The day, Conny Kramer died
Her song has been covered several times...ig the Ruhrpottkanacken: the day ian stuart died 😂
It would be translated like:
The day Ian Stuart died
And all the punks were singing
That was a great day
When he finally ended up in a coffin
If you dont know bout ian stuart Donaldson:
He was an inportant member of the national Front in England
08:32 Michael Holm: Tränen lügen nicht means
Tears dont lie
It was also covered but changed into Dänen lügen nicht, which means Danes dont lie by Otto Waalkes
@@SweetSchnubbl „Der Tag als Conny Kramer starb“ is actually set to the tune of „The Night They Drove Ol‘ Dixie Down“, by „The Band“.
@Roberternst72 i cant hear myself contradicting 🤣
Thank you for explaination 😊
What about the Latvian hits? Greetings from Hamburg/Germany!
Latvian hits, well on this channel try to react to German related topics more.
Fun Fact: Chris Norman (Lead Singer from Smokie) was produced partially by Dieter Bohlen (head of Modern Talking, the blond guy in track suit and guitar in older videos)
Wow gonna tell my mom, she loves his music.😊

Boney M wasn't completely fake, the women you always see are actually singing alongside Farian.
@ two of the three women, according to Wikipedia
Wow Das wusste ich nicht!
and frank farian is the most successful music producer of all time
Some of them Are German Like Boney m but some of them are not
👍
Miguel Ríos : Spaniard
singing that sort of Song of Joy
I didn't know he sang it in English too

this is different from your previous reactions. Here we are looking at the #1 Hits in Germany, not from Germany.
