The role of main character usually rotates between the 3 Mishimas. Heihachi and Kazuya were the main characters when Jim was absent in Tekken 7’s plot and now Kazuya and Jin are the main characters after Heihachi’s death.
The sculpting looks weak. If it was air brushed, would that make this figure look better? I'm thinking about buying it just to customize it with a good paint job. I've never seen a figure with pants like that. Before you posed the legs, I thought they were static. I'm blown away. This could change the future for baggy pants characters. If this was adopted, I would like all baggy pants characters to be redone. All SHF Bleach characters need legs like this. Figures won't have to make hideous compromises like with Android 19. With Tekken the main character is not a person. It's the entire Mishima family. Like the soap opera The Young and the Restless is two competing families. Not really individuals.
I feel like pants like that would be great for Dragon Stars figures. Dragon Ball characters tend to have pants that are all one color so paint cracking wouldn't be much of an issue.
I appreciate that bandai was willing to do something creative and innovative on a budget figure line. I haven't got this one yet but kazuya and heiachi are some of my favorite pickups from last year. Will def grab Jin soon
Yoshimitsu, absolutely. I'd love it if he were to be part of the next wave, assuming the line continues. Mokujin? I can do without him. There's plenty of other Tekken characters I'd rather get a figure of.
To me, tekken main character has always been Jin. Tekken 3 was what made tekken so popular. Some reason they made Jin a bad guy and tried to push his father as the face of tekken, idk why. Jin is a beast. Great review!
I am extremely curious on how this would look with some more custom paint on it, would be pretty cool if you made a video doing some simple beginner friendly paint job on it
The way they did the pants is great and I hope more companies do things like this. If/when Jada redoes the Shotos (Ryu/Ken/etc) they should try this out.
Picked up this figure before I knew you had a review on it. I was about to go in your comments and recommend a review of the figure. I was thoroughly surprised with some of the things here. Yeah there are some shitty things that aren’t great but that I would honestly expect from a figure that is in the 20-30 dollar price range. And some really GREAT things that I would not expect from a figure like this. I was thinking I’d give it an 8 as well. I’m glad to see you agree!
Those pants are pretty interesting. I don't mind visible joints on figures but on something like the bleach or kenshin SHF this would be way better than what they are doing. Definitely a giant improvement compared to cloth. Mezco fans are shaking seeing this lmao
Facinating! I was pretty bummed out when i saw the prototypes, thinking that the pants were going to be this thick rubber-like material and it would not hold up overtime. But seeing this review i'm very suprised it doesn't hinder the knee bends. Very impressice enginering
I was tentatively curious about this line based on Kazuya and Heihachi, but seeing those pants on Jin actually *work* definitely sold me on this figure. Excited to see if the line keeps improving even more over time!
This looks brilliant. Those pants look excellent and I'd like to see that same technique used on suit trousers/pants and as someone who paints and converts figures, I'm fine with adding extra paint and maybe swapping a head when I want to make the figure pop more. Greater job!
Given that most posing people do is pretty nuanced for most characters, I'm really interested in the potential of pants like this. Great find and great review!
I've been very surprised by this line and how much fun they've been, not as good as Jada SF but I don't feel disappointed or robbed compared to Marvel Legends at all. I do think their retail is $26.99 on Amazon, $30 at places like BBTS with their slight up charge. I'm in on both lines and just glad we've got so many cool fighting game figures in the past year. The pants are 100% cool to me
with regards to the in box pose its meant to refence the player 2 stance in the game for when displaying them. the packaging is the one thing this line has done exceptionally well for the fans.
Question of the Day: To me, Jin is definitely the main character of the Tekken series. As for the figure, here, I must say that this is a lovely piece. Pity about the plastic-y nature of the upper body, though, as that is something Hasbro would habitually utilise. You are correct, Mister Anthony; the trousers especially are wicked cool (the paint chipping overtime does concern me, however)-it would seem that Bandai took the pioneering initiative to give the action figure evolution an evolution/level-up upgrade, and it is lovely to see. Awesome review, mate! 👍🤘 Giovanni Marino, M.D.🇬🇧🇮🇹
I think slightly extending the torso at the waste and adding those butterfly joint disk things mcfarlane uses at the shoulders would've cleaned up most of the ugly gapping, and yeah, a light wash would've really made the figure look better. for the price, not bad, might pick him up, would definitely pick up a figure of my man, brian fury, if they release him.
I’m with you 100% on this, I like this idea for the pants. The paint chipping is unfortunate but for someone like Heihachi with a totally solid color gi it would actually be perfect. Do you think spraying it with a sealer might help prevent some paint chip?
Most important part with painting flexible plastics is the primer. A flexible sealer might help a little but if the paint is going to chip without the sealer there is no guarantee it would prevent paint chipping. I suspect the paint woud eventually chip over time if you pose the leg fully bent regardless if you use a sealer.
I’m definitely gonna get this guys and the kazuya and heihachi to round out my tekken collection along with some storm stuff. Makes me wonder now if they can add this stuff to shfiguarts and maybe do it with other characters. The possibilities have me excited
With the pants I don't think the paint wearing off over time is a big deal. Being from a fighting game battle damage or wear and tear on the clothing from moving around so much is inevitable. Same if it was a shirt with sleeves. Like imagine a Marvel Legends Gambit with a removable coat made of this or an ML with a cape? They'd look and pose much better.
I will pick up the King figure eventually (as he's my favorite) so I can check out the line, and if impressed I may backtrack and pick up the others (finances allowing, of course). The pants are very interesting on this figure! Solid review as always, thanks! 😎👍
There are so many good applications for this pants design, even just within Bandai’s lines. Imagine how much less shit the pants on the S.H. Figuarts Bleach figures would have looked if they’d used this technology? Dragon Ball figures would be taken to the next level with this style too. What a cool idea these are.
@@ryantheanimator1156I think it’s refreshing to see on a 6-inch. I’ll be the first to complain about seamless rubber on Hot Toys or any 12-inch but this one is well executed.
AEW figures have been using a similar thin plastic in place of soft goods that works very well. As far as I know, they have been the first to really roll out this type of function.
@AnthonysCustoms They used it on Orange Cassidys pants from a very early wave. Not full pants but at the upper part of the pants where you're still able to use the hips and even put his hands in his pockets.
Those pants are fascinating. However I am very curious to see how long that pants last given rubbery plastic tends to either melt or crack and fall apart.
The pants technology is good. Yeah, understandable if no company would do it, and it will break for rubbery plastic by time, if you play it so much or diplay it for so long with dynamic pose. If just standing pose, it looks good. Yeah, can't say much about the upper half. It's like wrestling figures techs body.
I wonder if that material that the pants are could be the answer to articulated tails on figures and making them not look clunky. Just hide your joints underneath whatever that material is, it wouldnt be perfect but maybe it could work.

Yeah those pants are real interesting. Never would've expected something like that out of Bandai America, of all things, but between this and their Chainsaw Man's surprising ab articulation, I guess it's one of those broken clock twice a day situations. Definitely prefer these compared to soft goods. 99% of soft goods on 1/12 figures look unnatural and belong in the trash, from my experience. This tech is an interesting compromise.
I like this figure and the look of pants, but the cracking paint on them concerns me, also I can accept unfinished paint on his gloves, straps or feets, but the fact they didn't give him his signature tattoo annoys me a lot. Still getting this figure perhaps.

@@godofcrap42 thanks for the reply. Yeah, after I posted the question, I spent about an hour reading all about Lars, and the last few Tekken games. The last one I played was 6, but only briefly. The last one I played in-depth and paid attention to the characters, stories and lore was 5.
I don’t understand going through the trouble to cover the legs in awesome looking painted rubber to hide the articulation if you’re just gonna leave the upper body unpainted plastic with those egregious looking shoulders. This is a really weird fig at $30.
Not sure why you feel that way. He's definitely one of the most memorable/recognizable characters in the series, but I would say the face of Tekken is either Jin, Heihachi, or Kazuya. Heck, you could even say all three of them are the face of it.
Ehh. The weird rubber pants are a HARD pass for me. Especially for characters like this, it limits how much you can pose the figure before the paint starts chipping and cracking due to the nature of how paint reacts poorly to being bent or posed for a long amount of time. It also just just doesn’t look natural compared to soft goods. I believe companies like dragon storm implement this idea better with their bodies
@@Crim-kun Exactly! If they were just plain pants with dry paint shading to bring out the sculpt more then this would come across better imo. I’m not totally against this design choice but, it has to be implemented better.
@@Crim-kun I couldn’t agree more. Though I would like to see this implemented differently. Maybe segmented? So the rubber material doesn’t bunch and split paint as much (if at all) when articulating the joints?

TEKKEN 5: Jin and Kazuya both, kinda?
TEKKEN 6: Lars
TEKKEN 7: Kazuya and Heihachi [but Lars gets a side story about Jin]
Who is Lars?
@@orinanime Lars Alexandersson- Heihachi's illegitimate bastard son, Kazuya's brother, Jin's uncle
@@godofcrap42 thanks for the reply. Yeah, after I posted the question, I spent about an hour reading all about Lars, and the last few Tekken games.
The last one I played was 6, but only briefly.
The last one I played in-depth and paid attention to the characters, stories and lore was 5.
Is there a devil jin
Nope
Reminds me of Playco from Regular Show
kazuya is the face of tekken
I don’t understand going through the trouble to cover the legs in awesome looking painted rubber to hide the articulation if you’re just gonna leave the upper body unpainted plastic with those egregious looking shoulders. This is a really weird fig at $30.
That's probably why the upper body is the way it is. All of the budget went into the pants...lol. Still a cool figure, though.
I feel like King is kind of the face of Tekken for some reason.
Jin is the face of Tekken since T3.
I believe companies like dragon storm implement this idea better with their bodies
plain colored pants are fine but a painted design is a death sentence for playability
@@Crim-kun Exactly! If they were just plain pants with dry paint shading to bring out the sculpt more then this would come across better imo. I’m not totally against this design choice but, it has to be implemented better.
@@DJKrossphireDaChoppahKid it's be perfect for plain pants characters like Paul, law and hworang or even tekken 3 jins pants
@@Crim-kun I couldn’t agree more. Though I would like to see this implemented differently. Maybe segmented? So the rubber material doesn’t bunch and split paint as much (if at all) when articulating the joints?
I think it's Jin because he's the face of the franchise
Jin is the mc, kazuya is the antagonist
The protagonist is who ever was the least evil
That's not how that works
2:14 It's Jin now, so who cares what I feel about Kazuya 😢
The company of these tekken figures are definitely a jin main, this figure, I'd say, is better than their kazuya. Hands down
Kazuya is the coolest
I think King is the gamestop exclusive. Also it's cool to see plastic being used like that though I see why some companies don't do it as much.
Hi Anthony, who is your favorite tekken character?Mine's is king.
I don't know them enough unless i can pick Akuma lol
It’s Jin!
