The selling factor of "Transformers" toys is obviously the gimmick of two(or more) modes, but it's impossible to fully replicate the robot modes seen in comics, animation and live action when the figure has the transforming gimmick. Fully accurate robot modes have a visual appeal. It's kinda like owning a Spider-Man figure as opposed to a Peter Parker which you have to suit up to "transform" into Spidey.
I like my Transformers to transform, kibble and engineering and all. But I totally understand why folks would be down with the DLX figures. Theyre fantastic, priced well (relatively), pose well, etc.
for the most part, i rarely transform my figure out of robot mode to vehicle mode, the robot mode is the fun part afterall, would only transform them to vehicle if i ever feel bored for a bit on the display
Transforming my beast wars as a kid was super fun, and i enjoyed the heck out of playing with them. As an adult, most my transformers are staying in 1 mode. The only ones I could see myself changing modes now would be the dinobots because they are sick in either form
QOTD: it was okay. They use the same exact formula from Bay movie, plot device/mcguffin driven, too many characters just "being there" As background etc. The only difference was that it's overall tighter and streamlined, while Bay was all over the place. I'd say average. Transformers One was MILES ahead of any previous TF movie tho, a culmination of their best lore & content, it's good.
i enjoyed RoTB for what it was, fun action and visuals, not the worst plot either. My problem is for a film called “rise of the beasts”… the beasts are barely in the movie
I’ve always loved the non-transforming figures, because it allows for more accurate robots. ThreeZero has been killing it with these and I’m hyped for the 2007 characters, especially if they do the Decepticons
ThreeZero's Transformers figures are my favorite kinds of non-transforming offerings thanks to the larger scale doing the CG accuracy justice. Idk how soon I'd make a dedicated display for when I collect a lot if them, but I al least want this Prime as well as the OG Trilogy and AOE versions
I have the Bumblebee version, and I also thought about picking this one up, but I realized the Bumblebee version has the best G1 look. BTW: I enjoyed Rise of the Beasts.
Nice review. I have this figure and it looks much more impressive in hand than watching it in a video. So many details and the weathering paint job is awesome and please to the eyes. Nowadays if a robot figure doesnt have weathering paint job it looks like kid toy to me.
I don't personally care for non-transforming figures, but I...kind of get it? I mean if you just want a nice looking, poseable version of a certain character that looks like how it does in the movie/show/etc without having to make compromises so it actually transforms, sure, I can understand that to some extent.
I get what you're saying but there are transforming figures with insane detail like magnificent mecha 01 or unique toys and toy world. If you're not privy with third-party figures.
I 100% agree. Magnificent Mecha MM01 is darn near perfect but Anthony won't review it because it's by an unlicensed company however I don't consider it a KO because Magnificent Mecha designed the whole robot from scratch. They didn't take someone else's engineering and made a copy they have to design it themselves to make it perfect in both modes. I still have that same argument about Hero Toys Giant Killer aka Illidian.
Yes I would just to see if I could remember how to do it. I transform all my figures about twice a year just to see if I remember how. HOWEVER I do like a good sculpted non tranforming figure. But when you can have both with both modes perfect... well that hits a special place.
Your reviews have been pretty much my only window into three zero transformers but they are way cooler than I expected, do you think you will ever take a look at the DLX Transformers One stuff?
Where do I check out the third-party parts you were talking about? Do you have any recommendations from stuff you looked at or anything? I’m curious about it now that you mention it. Also glad that you did a review on these, I was hoping you would.
I just found them on ig. I didn't get that deep into it since the figures are so good as they are. I mean, better heads and articulated hands are great but when they cost as much as the figure itself and it's already awesome, it didn't seem worth it.
I wanted it to be more focused on the beast wars characters and less on the G1 characters that we've seen a thousand times already. Primal didn't appear till near the end of the movie and that's criminal.
I really enjoyed Rise of the Beast, it’s one of the rare times where i thought Pete Davidson was funny. My only complaint was they did Wheeljack dirty by making him a van and not an approximation of Lancia Stratos or any older rally car. I prefer non-transforming Transformers, I can’t think of too many instances where I’ve transformed them back into vehicle or beast mode, that I prefer zero compromises on either mode. I don’t need a car with bits of a robot sticking out.
That should be the question of the day… if it is a Prime figure, would you buy it if it does not have the matrix or opened chest for the matrix? Personally, I will always give extra points if a figure can transform. But it is not a deal breaker if it cannot. Also prefer the design of G1 Optimus or even Bumblebee Prime to Beast War - getting too close to the Bay Prime, which is my least favorite design. But the silver here is beautiful. I know most of these pieces are plastic, but the paint makes them look like real metal. 😍😍😍
Also for the transformer non-transformable question, I've been like kinda thinking of it for a while now. Through the gripes I have too is the joints as well. As a standing pose is fine tho I like to see the figure in most of it's extent in its range of motion. The moving parts are really fun tho when I see like the disconnect too in the joints it is weird for me. This is FANTASTIC, don't get me wrong on that. If I had the room for it and money yes I would tho I already have a perfect grade Gundam that's his height actually and it's way too big for my shelf actually.. granted I have way more now funny i can't actually pose them now so they are just standing there too.... That like negates the part of me being torn on the knees and the elbows too lol. Tho it's still funny to me that most of the ones I like in proportion and engineering is like the ones that can transform. I still think of mp-44 a lot now he's far more expensive than this guy I think. Tho that's like the best G1 Optimus taking in the others that can transform and that can't as well. The other that would take that cake too is the light of peace too though the one thing I'm indifferent on is like the no knee pad moving, like you mentioned how this one the knee where it's that high makes it look disconnected in a way. For me if it doesn't I dunno makes it look like it clips to me like a game.
Yeah you kinda said it. You weren't looking at the elbows during the movie. Picking up that detail in the bent elbow is nitpicking. How often are we looking at the back of the elbow? Certain things need to be made Certain ways to make things work
To get a little more in the elbow. You can move that whole like forearm piece and that’ll give you a little bit more Also you missed another piece in the ab crunch. It can bend even more. I think with the ankle you’re suppose to pull on it? I know that’s how it is on their blitzwing figure where you could pull on it and it’ll move back.
Fun fact: the face from Rise of the Beasts is directly modeled after Peter Cullen and I assume they took that design for the unmasked portion of this figure
The nose is incredibly off putting on every attempt they’ve made at the face it’s extremely difficult to understand where or even what anything is on it on any of of them beyond the bizarre nose
The film was fine and kept it more serious with no silly family but the VFX took a huge dip in quality, they not a patch on ILM’s work of the previous 6
I loved most parts of the Rise of the Beasts movie, tho there were some things that were clearly mandated by the producers(Lorenzo Bonaventura, who often says comically insane stuff). My second favourite live action Transformers movie after Bumblebee.
It should have been only them. Then a sequel would bring them together with the autobots. Studios have no balls these days though, and have to play it safe.
@AnthonysCustoms Absolutely. I guess they thought if neither Optimus nor Bee were in the movie it would've flopped (ironically, it kinda did anyway), but yeah, they should've done that.
Answer for the day: hated what they did. Introduced too many new characters that didnt work. And had me frustrated at the fact that we shouldve just gotten a beast wars movie. Weird mix of a movie and nothing worked except for optimus primal
You lose something with either transforming or not. I feel like I wouldn’t transform a figure this expensive (if it could) very often though for fear of breaking it, whereas my 30$ optimus I can abuse pretty well
QOTD A: boring, nothing burger of a movie. the action scenes were so dry, didn't have half the energy, creativity, punchiness, or swag of the first 3 films had with its fight scenes

Great review! i'm dead excited for the upcoming ThreeZero 2007 autobots
Me too
I don't collect Transformers, but if I were to start... I wouldn't, because the good ones are stupid expensive lol
12:15 FULL SPLITS NO NUGGETS!!!!
for the most part, i rarely transform my figure out of robot mode to vehicle mode, the robot mode is the fun part afterall, would only transform them to vehicle if i ever feel bored for a bit on the display

Transformers that don't transform are superior. No kibble, no weird articulation
That line blurred when it comes to third party transforming tf, they use some kind of black magic there lol
QOTD: it was okay. They use the same exact formula from Bay movie, plot device/mcguffin driven, too many characters just "being there" As background etc. The only difference was that it's overall tighter and streamlined, while Bay was all over the place. Leave it to Paramount to absolutely strand it dead in the water marketing-wise lmao.
i enjoyed RoTB for what it was, fun action and visuals, not the worst plot either. My problem is for a film called “rise of the beasts”… the beasts are barely in the movie
and while, yes, they ARE in the film. no one really talks aside from Primal
Yeah. They were just shoe horned in for merchandising imo
I’ve always loved the non-transforming figures, because it allows for more accurate robots. ThreeZero has been killing it with these and I’m hyped for the 2007 characters, especially if they do the Decepticons
I have several of the DLL Bumblebee figures and love them all.

Already pre-ordered the G1 Cybertron Mode. Can't wait for it to arrive next year.
Nice review. I have this figure and it looks much more impressive in hand than watching it in a video. So many details and the weathering paint job is awesome and please to the eyes. Nowadays if a robot figure doesnt have weathering paint job it looks like kid toy to me.
Agreed. Much nicer in person

IDK. It sounds like you understand it to the full extent. I sense a conversion impending.

No. The tf1 designs just do nothing for me. I'm glad you like the videos though. Sorry i won't be indulging those designs.
Where do I check out the third-party parts you were talking about? Do you have any recommendations from stuff you looked at or anything? I’m curious about it now that you mention it. Also glad that you did a review on these, I was hoping you would.

My RotF Optimus should be here in January. They look incredible.

I like to piss off hardcore Transfromer fans by telling them I can always buy a model of their vehicle mode.
They really hate that for some reason.
I wish I could buy UNCLE Walther p38🤣
To get a little more in the elbow. You can move that whole like forearm piece and that’ll give you a little bit more

We here my boy🤝🤝🤝
Wonder if you’ll ever review Bandai’s Metal Builds or Metal Robots line
No. I sold my mrd.
Fun fact: the face from Rise of the Beasts is directly modeled after Peter Cullen and I assume they took that design for the unmasked portion of this figure
I know they said that but it's also very similar to the bay prime's face and the nose are is still very weird.
The nose is incredibly off putting on every attempt they’ve made at the face it’s extremely difficult to understand where or even what anything is on it on any of of them beyond the bizarre nose
Bay movie also combined autobot logo & peter cullen face

The vfx were so bad comparatively. I forgot about that
"the hip of the foot".... Using that lol
Do you plan to get/review any of the HeatBoys Turtles?
Not likely. But maybe
@@AnthonysCustoms Anyone who got those turtles, I guarantee it's in their top 10 best figs list for 2024.
I would be fine with Transformers who stay as robots, if I was collecting them that is.
I loved most parts of the Rise of the Beasts movie, tho there were some things that were clearly mandated by the producers(Lorenzo Bonaventura, who often says comically insane stuff). My second favourite live action Transformers movie after Bumblebee.
I ahve the premium version of the bumblebee optimus. crazy cool
I'll be getting that too
@@AnthonysCustoms 👍
Didn't hate the movie. It was alright, but I'd loved that the Maximals were the focus, you know.. since they're on the title xD
I honestly prefer non-transformable transformers I buy them for the robot mode
Can you review some of the Threezero G.I. Joe figures?
Answer for the day: hated what they did. Introduced too many new characters that didnt work. And had me frustrated at the fact that we shouldve just gotten a beast wars movie. Weird mix of a movie and nothing worked except for optimus primal
QOTD: it was meh, imho. As a Beast Wars fan.. they should have been flat out given their own movie. Not used as side characters who barely transform.
Awesome sauce
When have you ever slept?!
Can't remember
You lose something with either transforming or not. I feel like I wouldn’t transform a figure this expensive (if it could) very often though for fear of breaking it, whereas my 30$ optimus I can abuse pretty well
I did like rise of the beast. However it’s no beast wars.
Dude, optimus nose kinda huge, tho
Love the reviews, but still dont really like non transformable transformers
Looks dope 👌the movie was ... meh
QOTD A: boring, nothing burger of a movie. the action scenes were so dry, didn't have half the energy, creativity, punchiness, or swag of the first 3 films had with its fight scenes
Is this really Anthony? There A lot of reviews of expansive figures and everyone knows that Anthony only reviews cheap figures.
What are you talking about? That's never been the case.
Truck not monkey
Monke
ROTB was bland and forgettable. Airazor played a huge part, but we never saw her robot mode. All the other beast bots were just a blurry mess.
I thought this movie was about the same as all the other Bay movies, terrible.
FIRST!!🎉
