- It was a challenge thrown both to Abang Gan and myself - that the new 2023 Perodua Axia would not make it up Genting if loaded with 5 adults - Challenge Accepted, by Abang Gan, who invited me to drive his personal 1.0 liter Perodua Axia (in stock standard trim) up our favorite mountain.
So it was up the mountain we went, after meeting up at Genting Sempah. I think the total weight of the five of us was in excess of 400kg, taking into account Abang Gan's claimed weight of 60+ kg.
Watch the video for yourself - there is a little bit or excitement at the end when the face camera got so hot that it turned itself off, plus a little treat for all of you.

Surprisingly no CVT overheat warning. It happened with Alza and Ativa though

This gearbox is for engine with higher output to carry heavier body, so match it with axia will make it much less stress for the gearbox.
@@vincwong8498 Good point. Didn't occur to me. I remember reading that this CVT only can tahan 150nm. Alza and Ativa already 140nm

Would love to be the chase car if uncle YS cucuk, can learn from uncle's drive from behind the race line and the brake point, I always observed uncle's line, steering input and hear the rev sound to understand his shifting point in all his videos.

Not sure if I like this.. I prefer the normal quiet drive of Uncle YS. The noise from Abg Gan is a bit "disturbing" because I want to hear more of the cabin noise, engine ram, etc.. But overall, nice video. :D

Still waiting on my car but mine was allocated for Mei so hopefully I'll get my car this early june. My Saga Orion now starting to 'merajuk' with it's leaky water pump and worn front shocks but I'd just blow my savings for the deposit so no fix the current car. Hopefully it'll hold until the new car arrives and my late father's car can finally retire for the 2nd time after 11 hears me "owning" it.
The D-CVT gearbox I think is the best combination for the 1.0 NA engine. Far better acceleration than the 4 AT.
For now...but not for long term....deep😂...4AT is forever tahan.
The CVT will keep hunting for the right gear, prefer the old bullet proof 4at, with the gear layout d32l, so you can downshift when enter corner

First time im driving on genting with total 5 people in old alza & the real world more steep than in video...the old alza only can 50-60kmh maybe because the engine is already old & less power since the car already 350k ++ mileage ..but really enjoy drive up there & not really enjoy drive downhill since all car that time go fast even with so many speed bump

Abg Gan boleh tunjuk tachometer masa naik genting?..kalau dah menunjukkan 5 dan keatas, saya rasa bukan semua orang akan tekan kereta sendiri sebegitu rupa. Masa test ni boleh tunjuk kereta tersebut ada power sebab tekan habis. Al maklumlah kereta test drive. Bunyi engine macam nak pecah....

I don't fully understand but this video is indeed entertaining. With 1.0 lt NA engine paired with automatic transmission, this car is bound to be gutless. Add 3 passengers who each weighs (by their physical appearance) at least 80 kg then you have a recipe of a very gutless, underpowered shoe box.
Hahaha, it was in response to some viewers' challenge to see if a fuply laded car could make it up the mountain, and we did just that - a bit slower than usual, but we did it nevertheless

I am curious how hot the cvtf became. By the way, what did uncle and Gan say about the aircond in the last part 20:45 ?
The CVT had no issues because the engine has very low torque; the ac compressor has a cut off when under full throttle, like most cars.

Uncle Kong, if we were to use the normal D gear and 5 person sits in the car, can the Axia still go up genting like normal? Or it would be better to use the S gear like what you did in the video?
It will still go up, but it will be shifting up anytime you lift off, and will go gear hunting when you accelerate. Keeping in S will hold it in a lower gear.

Uncle would you recommend this over brio? I was hesitant to consider this since its only 1.0 but seeing your video made me believ it can climb any hill. Also the price of brio from where im from is too expensive. So im really looking for other option. Do you have any suggestion?
As a A segmemt car it is powerful enough, and as you can see from tue video it could climb the hill, but it did struggle a little
However, you must look at the terrain where you arr going to use the car. If it is very hilly as in mountainous, it may be better to get a car with a larger engine capacity or a 1.0 liter turbo. The Brio may also struggle with its small engine if the terrain is hilly.

Uncle, is the Hybrid or Petrol version of the Toyota Corolla Cross better for family of 5?
Both are exactly the same size so 5 can fit in.
The hybrid would serve you well if you do a lot of urbam driving especially in stop- start traffic.
If you do a lot of outstation driving, the non hybrid would be a bit better, as the hybrid system then has not much chance to do its work.
What a pleasant uphill ride. Abang Gan should be around 80+kg!

1.0 to CVT = Bo rasa
This CVT limit is 150Nm, axia 1.0 only 91Nm
The other 1.5 and 1.0T car has around 140Nm, baru the CVT heated up warning. But no powercut la, just warning
