Mountain coasters are so much fun! Also, I know what you mean about going to some mountain resort areas when it is in between seasons. It can be a very weird vibe. Last time I went to Denver, I decided to drive to Vail one weekday because it was unusually warm for the beginning of November. But there wasn't much going on because they were working on converting everything over to ski season. But at least I found a bike and ski shop that still had some rental bikes available.
So you definitely experienced the in-between seasons too in Vail! It's still pretty to see, but like you said, when they're converting everything from one season to the other... definitely lacks some fun! Bike rentals are the BEST though, glad you found them at least! Thanks for your comment, Jeff! 🙂
Thanks Robb! Neat your friend used to live there! I would defintely go back in the Winter, all the skiing /snow sports opportunities plus the "cozy winter" decor! I hope you get to travel there someday!
@@RobbZipp I'll keep my fingers crossed for you and don't forget to make a video about it as well! I'd watch it to see what your thoughts are on it! Thanks!
Both my wife and I love the whole Big Bear area. My wife has commented many times she'd love to live there if only the whole area was somehow scooped up and transplanted to another state, not California. I agree 100%.
Lol ikr! Van life would be efficient! I will say I'm very careful with traveling on a budget, including those hotel rentals (and some car camping) so that does help drop my costs.
You know, I don't know the actual answer. From a quick search, it was originally named Yuhaviat, Serrano Native American phrase meaning pine place. Later, settlers discovered that it was swarming with grizzly bears, and decided to call it Big Bear. Grizzly Bears went extinct in the valley at the turn of the 20th century but there still thousands of black bears found in Big Bear Valley. Hope that answers your question!

My close friend used to live there, but I’ve never been. Thanks for showing us what it’s like! Would you go back in Winter or Summer?

Big bear is pretty for sure! I'd have to agree too, there's so many beautiful places to live in California... if only it wasn't in California!

As much as you travel in surprised you don't have a van life rig to save money on hotels
