  • In this video I will be explaining how I video wildlife using my Canon R5, over the past year I have been creating RUclips videos I'm since then being doing a lot more videography with the Canon R5, so I thought it be a good idea to create a video on how I use the Canon of five and what my settings are for videography when photographing wildlife and birds in flight.
    Also in this video I have a fantastic one to one session with a barn owl that literally is flying around hunting in front of me which I managed to get some wonderful video footage of the barn owl in flight and also some great photographs as well.
    I will also be giving one lucky subscriber a chance to receive my Sirui tripod that's how I reviewed in my last video if you didn't see that you can see that in the following link here.
    So just another great trip out photographing wildlife here in the UK with my Canon R5

    Absolutely wonderful video .. very well done .. I'm a professional photographer who has decided (in my old age) to start doing just a little bit of wildlife video. I already had my R7 setup for some HD video when I saw this clip on setting up the R5 (which I also own) for video. Wow - excellent .. especially for someone like me who is a novice when it comes to video setup & capture. Thank you again for a clear & concise video on how it's done. I will surely be watching all of your future videos.

    Absolute cracking video! You are a superb slow motion photographer, Ashley, and generous in your tutorial of how you capture the magic. Your selection of clips to illustrate the value of slow motion was perfect in my eyes (it had my heart racing). And then, the bonus at the end... that hover and dive... a birders once in a lifetime moment. Some useful tips, which I will adopt.
    Wait till you get a camera that uses a Waveform rather than the aging Histogram method of getting good exposure. Once you use a Waveform, you'll never go back.😀
    Have you ever used a Field Monitor while filming?
    I bought one a few years ago, and its probably the best bit of kit I ever bought, after a sexy pin-sharp lens.
    It also records to a SSD.

    • @WildlifePhotographerUK
      @WildlifePhotographerUK  10 месяцев назад

      Hi Frank, yes I have just bought the new Atamos Ninja www.wexphotovideo.com/atomos-ninja-3119922/, which i used to record the camera settings for this video, for just going out videoing wildlife I will use it on some occasions, it just makes the whole set up a little bulky and heavy, but looking forward to using it in the comeing year.

    • @frankinblackpool
      @frankinblackpool 10 месяцев назад +1

      @@WildlifePhotographerUK That’s the one I have and it’s one of the best out there. Like you say, it can be bulky so I don’t use it all the time but when I do, it’s a pleasure to use.
      May I ask if you went for the original Ninja V or the V+. The original version only records 4k while the newer V+ records 8k to a max of 30fps.
      Also Atomos and Davinci are not playing nicely with each other so you won’t be able to film in ProRes RAW. For me it’s not really a hardship because there is virtually no difference in image quality between ProRes RAW and ProRes. The only benefit of RAW is choosing the WB when editing.
      You will love using the Waveform.

    • @WildlifePhotographerUK
      @WildlifePhotographerUK  10 месяцев назад

      @@frankinblackpool I Thought that the V and V+ are the older models the Ninja Ultra and Ninja are the newer models. I saw that V+ did 8K but the files are huge, and 4k is more than enough these days, managed to get the free travel gift bag and batteries with mine once it arrives. lol

    • @WildlifePhotographerUK
      @WildlifePhotographerUK  10 месяцев назад

      Hi BeeHappyproducts, you can switch to NTSC its fine for use here in the UK as you will be editing it in a video editor and then creating an mp4 or quick time file, so it can be played on any computer or on youtube. the only diffeance is that Pal is slightly better quality, but the average person would never know.

    I would argue that shooting at f22 in this scene, giving us a nice view of what’s behind you there is much, much better than shooting at f2.8 and blurring the hell out of the background! I also would have thought that diffraction at f22 would ruin the shot, but your results seem to disprove that. So why would I want to do what you are saying to do when what you did, which is way different than what you are saying, is so good already? This is very confusing yo me. :)

    • @WildlifePhotographerUK
      @WildlifePhotographerUK  8 месяцев назад

      I would like to shoot this at around f9/f11, not f22 I would not shoot this scene at f/2.8 due to the lovely scene behind me, I think at f22 the quality just degrades a bit, which is why I suggest it is best to have filters so you can then choose your apature rather than having it dictated to you by the light and scene, that's all 👍
