Nice one Stewart, I moved to Macro Videography too when I got my A7Siii, I love it, it brings the macro world to life and gives a great inside in to how these little creatures move, clean and even eat. Look forward to seeing more Macro Video from you Stewart, I know it will be amazing and inspiring.
Im right about at 3:26 in the video, and the reason im watching is that id love to do long video/live stream content of my pets! I have a 20 gallon long tank of Velvet ants and beetles adapated to desert living. Its incredibly entertaining to watch and i really want to do an hour of high quality recording of them all running around and playing with each other. I don't want to spend 750+ dollars for a camera or a lens, because i don't even make that much in a week. I will need a tripod as I have the shakiest hands known to man, a macro lens of some sort. A raw video processing program. And a long lasting camera. For all of this i don't want to spend over $1,000 because thats crazy expensive. I have a steam deck which i can probably process the footage on as i have a dock that can connect usb electronics like sd cars readers, mouse, keyboard, hdmi, microphone etc. I will keep watching to see, sorry for the essay lol
Hi Stewart, thanks for putting out quality videos. I’m a current Canon user with lots invested in lenses and different bodies. I’ve been struggling with macro using an R5/laowa 100/Godox 350C/ and AK diffuser. Can’t stack with flash, and find the whole rig very heavy and impossible for single-hand operation. I’m 75 years old, but still going, so I’d like to make things easier. Since you’ve moved to OM, I value your advice. What would you recommend for $1,000/$2,000/$3,000 kit? Thank you.
Budget friendly kit: Olympus OM-D E-M1 mk2, 60mm lens, Godox V359o and a Cygnustech diffuser. For a higher budget replace the E-M1 with an OM1 mk1 or mk2.
@@StewartWoodArt Thanks Stewart. I was leaning toward Olympus/OM and your input seals the deal. Also, I’ve been following you for some time now, and credit you with introducing me to jumping spiders. I’m raising only one now, but have had several others in the past. Aside from the photography, they’re just amazing creatures.
Hi Stewart! Really enjoyed this video! I am using a gh5ii for video with a metabones speed booster. Wondering about what lens might work for me... Also i only have 60fps at 4k!...
@@StewartWoodArt oh okay :) this camera has not the best low light it's a micro four thirds with ibis. Are there certain lens properties or lens that someone like me should at least consider looking into or ones that folks are using for photo that you definitely would not recommend? No worries if not thanks for the help!
keep doing videos about macro videos not many out there! . . . . . what about the Laowa 90mm 2x macro? i cant pick! just a hobby here. I have the ZV-E1 as well
Outstanding video, Stewart. I’m just now trying my hand at macro video. It’s not easy! On another topic, do you know what’s up with LEE HALL? We miss him.
I will be back soon Stewart won’t let me give up lol. He is helping me get my studio set up properly with some new lights he as kindly given me. Love you Stewart ❤
I find holding an iPhone far easier for macro videography, lighter and easier to get into hard to reach places. The screen and the lens are closer to the subject.
This is the tutorial I am longing for. Can't wait to give thumbs up before I finish watching. Realizing how much need to learn and practice.
Great to hear!
Is the smart phone macro lens,
Long-range 75mm? @@StewartWoodArt

Glad it was helpful!

I’m not familiar with the Panasonic system I’m afraid.

Super-solid video. Comprehensive. Since you’re using manual focus in video, how do you feel about using a Laowa 90mm 2x macro APO?
It would be a solid lens with more magnification but you would loose the lens stabilisation.
THANK YOU ! Very good explanations! And YES…. More macro video!!
just asked the same . . . . . dont know how bad will be the stab with the zv-e1.
Great vid bud
Thanks.

Got a question about peaking on the om-d e-m1 mark ii. Is there a way to have the peaking on constantly instead of turning the focus ring .

@@LeeHallphotographyThat’s great to hear! Been missing your “happy snapping”! 😊
That was inspiring
What is on top of your camera? The fuzzy looking thing?
Dead cat for the microphone, cuts down on wind noise.
Do you mention what picture profile your using? I didn't catch it.
Slog 3
Thanks
Brilliant :)
Thanks mate.

I still fine the iPhone lagging behind a dedicated macro video setup.
Hi @Stewart, I have sent you an email.. Would be great if you could reply to it. Thank you so much.
I'll check it now.
