Tried several RUclips videos available on this subject. Your process narration was spot on and was able to carry out operation on first try! Make sure your vehicle is one of the models described here.
Took me about 10 tries to get the timing right, but took the idle on my 07 Xterra from 1500 to 600 after cleaning the throttle body. Thanks for posting this.
Took off the upper intake plenum to replace valve cover gasket and afterwards immediately got P0507 on my 2007 Frontier. Followed this procedure and it worked perfect on the first try. Thanks for posting this helpful video!
Turns out that my RPMs kept going high and I couldn't get this procedure to help. I had sprayed CARB cleaner into the throttle body and then moved the butterfly valve by hand to wipe it. Wound up teaching with a junk yard throttle body from a pathfinder for $30 and didn't even need to do this relearn procedure. Hope this helps someone else.
I am in the same boat. Replace valve cover and gasket, and now I am throwing this code. So you said the relearn procedure only solved temporarily and you ended up needing a 'new' throttle body? 'new' throttle body fixed it without procedure? I also cleaned my throttle body while reinstalling everything.
I had cleaned my throttle body with carb cleaner which is supposedly a big no no for these throttle bodies. Plus I moved the butterfly valve a lot to clean all over the inside. After reinstalling and performing this procedure it seemed like the rpms came down to about 800+ and the code didn't throw immediately. So, I jumped on here and added my comment pretty quickly. Then later on when I drove my truck the code threw and the rpms were crazy again. I wound up going to my local junk yard and buying a throttle body off of a Pathfinder. I didn't clean it or touch the valve at all out of paranoia. Once I installed the throttle body the truck ran beautifully without running the relearn procedure. My rpms come down to high 600's and the truck runs much smoother. At my local junk yard in San Diego the throttle body only cost $30 + tax. Good luck with yours!
2007 xterra I replaced the valve cover gasket, plugs oil tranny oil ect. Cleaned the tb. First start It idled at 800. Followed this procedure and it dropped my idle to 600. Great video! It's very important you start the car 3 secs after the cel stops blinking
Thank you. Your procedure is the only one that works for me. I cleaned the MAF and throttle body and my 05 Pathfinder was idling at 1200 RPM. Now it is around 750-600 RPM.
Thanks for this video! I had been using the other learn procedure that Mitchell on Demand was telling me too and it wasn't working. I tried your video and it works great now!
Thanks for the great video .... only thing I would add = you might have to do the Idle Air Volume Learning SEVERAL TIMES before you get it right and/or before the computer accepts the learning. I had to do the procedure SEVEN TIMES before it finally re-learned and operated properly. I think maybe pushing the accelerator FIVE TIMES in FIVE SECONDS was my hangup .. probably doing that too slow, even though I was watching my watch. KEEP TRYING .... PERSISTANCE ..... you'll know it worked when you start it up for 20 seconds in the final step, because the engine will rev up and then start correcting itself downward towards 500 RPM and then settle in around 600 RPM ..... that's when I knew it had finally worked on my 2006 Nissan Frontier 4.0L Nismo Edition. After pulling the intake for spark plugs / coil packs / TB cleaning / MAF cleaning, the idle was 1100-1200 and driving the truck several times didn't correct itself, so I came to RUclips for help ...... Thanks Again !!! Joel Bond
I’m emailing from ear to ear lol because I finally got it lol I’m laughing right now. The seven seconds was the key. My engine light stayed on tho but my rpms dropped from 1100 to 600. Thanks man.
In case anyone was looking for the instructions for printing here you go: P0507 High Idle - Throttle body relearn procedures Accelerator Pedal Released Position Learning Procedure Ensure accelerator pedal is fully released Turn ignition ON, Do not start engine, wait at least 2 seconds Turn ignition OFF, wait at least 10 seconds Turn ignition on, do not start engine, wait at least 2 seconds Turn ignition OFF, wait at least 10 seconds Throttle Valve Closed Position Learning Procedure Ensure accelerator pedal is fully released Turn ignition on, do not start engine Turn ignition off, and wait at least 10 seconds. Make sure throttle valve moves during the 10 seconds by confirming the operating sounds. Idle Air Volume Learning Procedure Ensure accelerator pedal is fully released Turn ignition on, do not start engine, then wait 3 seconds Repeat the following steps 5 times within 5 seconds: Fully depress accelerator Fully release accelerator 4. Wait 7 seconds, fully depress and hold accelerator pedal. After 11 seconds the SES (Service Engine Soon) light will switch from solid to blinking. After 9 more seconds the SES light will change from blinking to solid. 5. Fully release accelerator pedal and start the car within 3 seconds 6. Allow to idle for 20 seconds 7. Rev engine to ensure functionality
Im gonna try it right now ours revs up to 1500 and it take about 5 minutes to go down to 600 which I know is not right. Will give you an update thanks for the video.
I put an engine after 4 years being parked. No check engine light, but service engine soon light on. However the scanner shows code P0507. I tried many times the steps you said, but still the same thing.
I had a 07 Altima I did it and it worked at first I saw the engine light didn't think I did it right left the car came back started it light gone rpms low
This worked for me. Recently clean my electronic throttle body. Tried the service Manual procedures 20 times and still couldn’t get the idle below 1k. Did this once and now my idle is to spec.
I did everything, the engine light was flashing and everything but I turned it on to Rev engine ans the RPM is still high and code is still be popped up? You have any other suggestions.
Nothing works on my 2000 nissan quest, all I did was removed MAF for inspection, got it back but forgot to reconnect it, ...now it starts fine but in a minute bogs down and dies. Dealer told me I do need this relearning procedure, 2 days and many tries - nothing, I can't get the engine light to blink...PLEASE HELP
Boris Pilipenko make sure the battery is charged after running the car for about 10-15 min. I hope u got the first two steps down, then when doing the last procedure it’s very important to time the 7 seconds precisely then depress the gas pedal. The light should blink so keep it depressed until it’s solid. Very important as well to start the car right away when the CE light goes solid! Hope this helps ! I also had trouble the first day cuz it was pouring rain and couldn’t hear well/impatient
98 frontier is drive by wire. It doesnt have an electronic throttle bottle. How is the throttle body gonna relearn the idle if the car has an idle aie control valve and mot an ecm in the throttle body?

I tried all others... fortunately I found your video and works the first time. 2005 nissan pathfinder. Thank you 😊
I had a P0507 code, followed this procedure and it dropped my idle from about 800 to 600. Sounds great. Thanks for posting.

@@tmendeol thanks for the info, this will be good to know if my CEL comes back. Currently at 625rpms after about 2 miles of driving so time will tell.
