- Hi everyone! I finally go in depth about my long journey of accomplishing not just my first marathon (42.2KM aka 26.2 miles), but TWO in one year as a beginner runner. i run ultra distance trails *alone.* for me running is a personal, meditative state. i understand challenging yourself to your limits but i cant understand comparing yourself to everyone else. focusing on times leads to problems like overtraining and eating disorders. my goals are always be safe, have fun, and finish the run. im not too concerned about the times altho i chart them afterwards for fun. if you really want to challenge yourself, running a 4hr marathon is ok, but try doing it alone on a muddy, snowy hiking trail with 5k feet elevation gain and multiple creek crossings in the dark during a storm with 10 degree F and 30 mile wind. the point is it doesnt matter what time you run, you either finish or you dont

Oh wow you did everything wrong lol..I was fortunate before my 1st half an older runner gave me valuable fueling advice. Im currently dealing w a foot injury but cant wait ti slowly get back into it!
