I haven't eaten many insects, but I do have a colony of mealworms that I occasionally roast some of for myself. They're nutty and crunchy, and having them freshly cooked makes a huge difference.
Meal worms remind me of popcorn kernels or something. They really absorb the flavor of the oil.
I like my crickets freshly fried and with just a bit of salt (and maybe a little spritz of lemon juice). To me they have a strong resemblance to crispy chicken skin, both in taste and texture. I love it!
Eri silk moth pupae seem similar to cottage cheese in taste and texture, which I'm not too fond of. Roasting them with peppers and onions (after a good boil and cutting them in halves) is the most appealing way to prepare them, that I found so far.
Thanks for sharing yeah I can imagine that fresh is always better than things that have been dried for months sitting on a shelf covered in salts and preservatives.
Your channel deserve more follows, one of the best education about entomology start from basic for kids. Thank you for uploading
Very kind of you to say that.
Welcome back! So good to see a new video!
Thank you for continuing to make videos when you can! Always love to see you pop up on my feed. I've always wanted to eat ants for some reason. I wonder if red ants or honey pot ants taste any different!
I havent tried honey pot ants or red ants yet. Some ants taste good like Jerky to me.
Can you do more collecting videos I really enjoyed them and would like more info on ways to catch different kinds of insects
Possibly will be doing some more this summer. I will see what I can do.
ah I no longer regret not trying those ants ahhaha
Yes smart move. Pretty acidic.
I’ve actually eaten that same brand of crickets 🦗 and I love the white cheddar 🤤🤤🤤😋😋😋
Did you say that you went on a mission in Mexico, because that is where my dad went on his and dos that also mean that you go to the church of jeses Christ of lator day sanes if so I do to and do you live in Idaho?
I was just going on an insect hunter binge! How convenient!
Glad I timed it perfectly for you!
why did you delete your wolf spider videos?
I ate human flesh flavored cricket.
i ate crickets. they were pretty tasty. tasted like peanuts
All depends on how they are cooked and flavored I suppose.
This was quite an interesting food tasting experiment.
Maybe I should have said do not try at home. A Couple of them were tolerable, but most of them were just gross.
How many times do we need to go over this? PIN the insects, do not EAT the insects!
Pins are just a reusable alternative to wooden skewers that can be used time and time again for feasting on these delicacies. You can tell how much I loved them by my face haha :D
@@InsectHunter lol
Very fasinating food
Maybe you could eat the cheese one with fresh macaroni? Would that give it some moisture?
Yes maybe, but would just ruin the macaroni. :P
Yooo your back!
Yes slowly catching up on all my projects and hoping to do more videos as we move forward. No promises on how often I will post, but working to get back to a somewhat normal schedule.
@@InsectHunter ah okay just don't over do it
someone gave me those ants last year but i never ate them, but dang they had a burning scent to them.
Yeah they are not very good.
Are they sealed to keep bugs in or out! Lol
If more bugs get in you get more bugs for you money. How is the Titanic model coming?

Ate a suri grub once. Delicious.
Wow yeah those look interesting. I think bugs like anything else can be good if cooked with a lot of love and care. Most products I eat seem to be thrown together by companies who are trying too hard to mask the flavor or make it taste like traditional foods and it just doesn't work much.
This was awesome 😂 🦗
Glad you enjoyed it
What are the chances of getting a parasite from eating bugs? I can't bring myself to eating bugs. 100% defiant. I enjoy your yuck face.
Not very likely especially if they are dried like the ones here. Probably way more likely to get parasites from the normal meats you see. Insect parasites are not going to transfer to you very easily.
They are baked a long time and all the parasites are cooked out. If cooked and prepared properly the chances of parasites are extremely rare just as rare as well cooked meats etc...
