- In this episode I show off my Carolina Wolf Spider, Ghost and talk about why Spiders are not as bad as people think they are. We discuss what a spider is, their diet, silk, venom and which species in the US are medically significant. We also show off how to handle a spider.

Spiders are peaceful to me. If I see one, I just let it be.
Great video, very informative. Appreciate the effort you put into this channel. Keep ‘em coming!
Much appreciated!
yo, just found your channel through watching one of your older vids! awesome content, and really clam and pleasurable commentary.
We do have the Brown Recluse in Missouri and yes I’ve known 2 people who got bit previously. Nasty bites. I always wondered how to identify, thanks for the tip.
Love the channel insect hunter!
Glad to hear it!
I am a kid I am 10yrs old so I started to find Insects and I saw your wedioes its helping me to find Insects thank you 😊
You playing with it disturbed my soul
seems i missed this, well see ya next time. :D
I'm curious what your Tick friend has to say about Lyme Disease. I got diagnosed with it about 4 years ago and deal with it's issues chronically.
Ghost is gorgeous! I can’t wait to meet Natasha!
I was likely bit by a Brown Recluse while stationed in California on the hand just below the thumb. My skin looked rotten and would ooze when I tried to make a fist. Took about a month or so to heal.
Obviously youve never had one as a pet. My tarantula is a sweetheart and a joy to have, and honestly a great low maintenance pet.
Yeah brown recluses are a bit intimidating.
Spiders are amazing... Wish I could work more with them... But not a lot of universities specialise in Araneology and good luck with that funding haha
This shouldn't even be up for debate, spiders have done much more good than bad but of course there will be the wicked and the rotten to say otherwise but I have no regard for them. I always found it funny most people are afraid of spiders despite them being so small but yet would randomly go up to a stranger's dog and pet it without thinking twice that the dog could attack, I mean have they not seen the grizzly things a dog can do to a person? I don't mean to throw dogs under the bus because I love them a lot as well. There is a quote that a whole heartedly respect so much.
"Compassion for animals is intimately Connected with goodness of character; and it
may be confidently asserted
that he who is cruel to animals
cannot be a good man."

I guess i’m a odd lady, cause I love spiders and any kind of bug really! Like mantids, vespids... I rescued an injured Hornet once and kept her as a pet! I called her Zelda and i would let her crawl in my hands and feed from my fingers, she was the cutest ❤️ On that regard, I would love a video on Hornets/wasp too!
sometimes i feel like they can just shoot their web as far as they want so that's why i don't even like to be in their presence cause i feel like they could just shoot a web on me and use that to crawl onto me... one time there was a single thread of web in my backyard going from my basketball hoop to the fence which had to be at least 5 meters across. i've never found an explanation to things like that
"not the best artist" nah but I am pretty good myself and this dude has potential hope he kept it up.
your the best
Thank for a most informative Video. I wonder if it would be possible to include a Metric scale on your Photos for those of us not conversant with American Coinage i don't intend this as a criticism just a suggestion Thank you B.K.W
Good point! Thanks
Exactly right spiders eat bugs we don't like. I don't understand why some people go out of their way to kill every spider they see. Besides that if you ever get one on your hand, carefully of course, they're very interesting. They jump from one finger to the other. Cool little creatures
Spiders have never scared me, expect some died ones a while back, but i have a friend that has arachnophobia that he wants to get ride off any of you have tips to get him over it?
Exposure over time can help you do this. I would start by watching videos of folks handling spiders and eventually try to hold a small harmless species.
Think ive come across one these the back on it was like a skull lookin pattern was brown diff shades size 50 cents coin maybe bigger
I disagree about all spiders being non aggressive. For the most part, spiders in the US are generally non aggressive, but the Sidney Funnel Web is very aggressive, therefore extremely dangerous. I know that you would never allow one to crawl on you like you did with the black widow. I understand that the Brazilian Wandering Spider is aggressive as well, and these are the two most dangerous in the world.
Thank you for being on here, I've been waiting for the experts to do this! 😃
What about the brown and red widows? Also, the hobo, yellow sac, and parson spider? OK, you addressed the hobo. I'm not an entomologist because I have arachnophobia. If I can become an archaeologist without having to touch them, I would do it. Spiders are my first love. Insects are interesting, but not as exciting as spiders.
Sidney or sydney
Australia??
I dont find that earthy of nature .
Soo
I love praymantises
Again scared but would over time gain confindence an insect over spiders ...
Arachnaphobic except daddy i dont even get lil scared as theyve always just hopped away not my way usually up n They Never seen anywhere bar up crner ground ceiling only see them mov3 along walls mostly
To the person who asked about spider's in colonies the tent spider is the only species that does to my knowledge.
If people think that all spiders are evil due to the poisonous ones, i think they should think that humans are evil too
Lol australia we got black widows trap doors red back mouse spiders some most deadly insects snakes etc
Yeah i know ..
Every place has creatures of jungle n land ,
Some deadly some not ..
Bit lik3 humans i guess
...
I always do mate ..
Eyes back my head n ears of a lion ..
N colonist .. never i will work for a cause never a queen
@Logan Owens .
Jumping spiders are the best.
I think it's just instinct to dislike spiders
I love spiders. I welcome them. But if they are large enough, and inside my home, I'll capture it and place it outside. If they are tiny, I let them live rent free as slaves to control the bugs in the house lol
No
Reclusive or hobo ??
Yes they are bad when they big and live in your room.
i'm real
I bet you are sir.
@@hircine9919 IT'S MA'AM!
I don't like spiders they are very ugly
I think they look cool. But I'd rather observe from a distance.
thats ok.
Imagine judging animals only by their appearance
@@stickafingerinit4381 im sure you judge people by their appearance all the time
@@epicn Perhaps, but I at least try to get to know them better before I let that judgement take over or I change my mind. And you shouldn't hate someone or something because of its appearance
