- Vancouver Music Critic Tom Harrison Interviews David Thomas. Undated. From Hi-8 Tape Picked Up In The Freebie Box At A Garage Sale in North Vancouver, BC. Interviews With Richard 23 // Front 242 and Frank Black // The Pixies Also on Tape. I Do Not Claim Copyright.
I can imagine David cruising the shortwave spectrum in the old days. I remember doing it myself and being enchanted as I globe hopped.
It’s funny. In some ways David became a better looking as he got older.
On a less superficial level, I’ll say that David and co. has left- and may they continue to create- a diverse and remarkable body of work.
I love how he gets incantational, prophet- like when he describes living in Cleveland and how he and his mates tried to find way of expression their alienation.
pere ubu and dave thomas are the reason nothing these days inspires me anymore, sick to death of the same old rock & roll cliche's,we absolutely need more vanguards/avant garde musicians.
love what he said around 8.10
awsome
You know I've never met David Thomas, and will probably never will, but I am accustomed to loving people I disagree with completely. "Punk is Joseph Stalin' is bullshit on the face of it. New Wave was the commercialization of punk, minus the demand for individual expression. But there you go.
The people that have a big opinion are always heard
I always felt that David Thomas and David Lynch should have crossed paths.
Utterly amazing...Accept no category is Thomas' creed.
That man is a beautiful soul inside and out :)
Keep on rocking the free world and doo doodle oot ... oops wrong canadian interviewer
His voice sounds like John c Reilly
