    Thanks Amy! I can't tell you how helpful this video has been. I've been a an acute care nurse (ER, CVICU, and ambulatory surgery) for 13 years and have always dipped and dabbled in the beauty industry but I'm finally ready to make that 100% leap. I'm in SoCal too, the SFV to be precise but I've just been trying to figure out how to get started because of my critical care background.

    Love your positive energy, before I got my bedside job i was actually doing the same research your were doing: typing in medspa near me, aesthetic nurse, Iv hydration but ive come to realize they would most likely require RN and Im an LPN. but I do see these type of places on the rise where im at here in florida. I just know i dont like the anxiety and fear i get from bedside nursing so Im researching other outlets for nursing.

    I’m so happy to have found your page! I’m a new grad here in San Diego county and just started a new grad program. I always knew I wanted to go into aesthetic nursing but I told myself I would first get my year in with bedside nursing just to get those skills and experience down. But being bedside for two months now there’s such a strong pull for me to change my course and go for what I ultimately want. The dread and anxiety doesn’t seem worth it anymore. I want to love my job! Thanks for sharing!!

    So helpful, thank you! I found you a month or 2 ago through your L&D videos. I’ve been an RN for 3 years in a step-down and med-Surg and I’m very burnt out. I’ve always been interested in both aesthetic nursing and mother baby! The week before you announced you were switching to aesthetic nursing I accepted a fellowship position for L&D! So going to give that a try but I’m also still so fascinated by aesthetic nursing so going to keep it in mind for years down the road too. Happy to follow you on your journey!

    Thank you for such an amazing video. You managed to capture everything that I hate about bedside, versus all nursing jobs. I was an icu nurse during covid, and was destroyed mentally. No more dead people, no more yelling at me, no more fears of killing someone, no more fears of career ending consequences. So I started my training with a private institute near me, one of the best training schools in my province. In bc we have strict aesthetic rules. So finding a job is going to be my biggest challenge, but given that nurses could not inject Botox until the Dayton report came out, I feel I am kind of on the cusp of a new trend. This service is growing exponentially and I need more work-life satisfaction. I feel this is the right move for me, and I am determined to rise above the damage from covid.

    I graduated from nursing school last year with the intent of not applying to bedside positions because of battles with my mental health. I accepted a primary care clinic RN position in December '21. So far I really like the low stress job and my co-workers. I just do not feel supported by management. We earn so much PDO and management readily denies us time off because they cannot "find us coverage". I decided I am going to remain in my position through the summer, but I am actively seeking other jobs. I am really interested in aesthetics! Worried I may not get hired though because of my lack of bedside experience.

    it hit me hard when you said your stomach hurt for 12 hours on your shifts. that's literally so relateable!! I find myself needing to go the bathroom so many times because of my anxiety, and my stomach churning. thank you for this video, and now I feel less alone knowing other people feel like they're not a real nurse if they go into aesthetics.

    Also do you think medical spas would hire new grad nurses ? I know in school we gain 600+ bedside clinical hours and I know that nursing we do in school at a hospital job isn’t super similar to aesthetic nurses so I wasn’t sure how places feel about new grads. I feel like it is the opportunity for them to take a new person and teach/train them exactly how they want them to work at their med spa .(if that makes sense) but wondering your take on that.

    What happens after doing your Botox/filler training if you went that route before working? Also how long do you have to be trained/working before working in your own med spa? I’m kind of confused on which step gets you officially certified as an aesthetic nurse?! Lol. Do you have to work alongside someone for a certain period of time or do you just do the training and that’s it? Is there an official exam? Or just certifications? Thank you so much in advance!!!

    Could you possibly send a Google doc link for a full example of an email you would send ? And maybe attach some sample resumes you found as well that are good references (I see ppl in comments asking about your resume but I know you might not want to include yours but possibly ones you found online that are really good examples).

    I’m going into nursing and I definitely only want to do ICU then work in as a CRNA and also get Botox training. I love talking to people especially men so I’ll definitely do well as a bedside nurse however, I only plan to do that for 2 years.

    This was super informative and helpful. Is it possible to become an aesthetic nurse without the nursing degree? I'm starting from ground zero here but the thought of starting college over is such a turn off.

    • @notme3240
      @notme3240 2 года назад +2

      No you can’t be an aesthetic nurse without being a registered nurse first. So you would have to go through nursing school. If you would like to work in a medical spa but not give injectables you could become a certified laser tech or a aesthetician and do facials.
      If you already have a bachelors degree then look into accelerated BSN programs that’s what I did.

      Honestly if you know its what you want to do, I say just go for it right after school. You'll advance so much faster and won't learn so many hospital nursing things that aren't relevent.

    Aesthetic nursing and L&D and psych nursing are my interest of choice. Thankfully I’m starting my pre reqs so I have time to decide. My question for new grads would you recommend working bedside for a year just for the experience or go straight into your specialty?

    • @AmyBales
      @AmyBales  2 года назад +2

      I don’t recommend ever working in a speciality you don’t like. I did a year in L&D right out of college and even that way too much bedside. I would go straight into your speciality so you don’t have to unlearn things!

    I’m considering nursing school specifically for cosmetic nursing. I read that it’s hard to find jobs in that field though. I’m not willing to work at a hospital or bedside at all. I live in Los Angeles. Do you guys think it’s worth going to school if I only want this industry? Otherwise, I’ll just go to Cosmetology school, but I’d rather go the nursing route. I have a Bachelors in Accountancy and hate it. I’ve always loved the beauty world

    • @Heyitsbonny

      For nursing cosmetics get into an OR and build up your experience then try to apply to a surgeons office. For aesthetics it will really just depend where you live. I feel like there will always be some type of availability but not on the scale of a bedside nurse so it may take some searching. The one thing I would take into consideration is if you don’t end up liking aesthetics and you did that first, you’re kind of stuck bc you don’t have bedside experience but there will still always be a demand

      I think as long as you’re an RN you’re able to do it, whether that’s an associates or bachelors. I recommend the bachelors just because I feel like you learn so much in that program but ultimately it depends more what you want to do long term.
