Im soo glad you made this and even moreso that youre responsive to any questions and comments! A few things Im currently wondering about or struggling with that Im wondering if you (or anyone else reading this that would like to as well!) could help me with? 1.) Im currently a new grad MedSurg/Tele floor RN making $45.25/hr in Cali and I always wonder how this starting pay as an RN in Southern Cali (SGV area) compares to other hospitals? The reason why I ask is not due to ego or competitive reasons but I ask because I dont know whether other hospitals would pay better or whether Im in a good place that I shouldn't leave/let go of? 2.) The biggest biggest conflict and struggle for me that I havent yet been able to decide on for years is whether I should pursue my final career as an Aesthetics FNP versus as a CRNA. As a female, I am very worried about aging and beauty and Aesthetics seems appealing to me cause it seems less stressful than bedside and anesthesia (and I dont want to age significantly from too much stress overload) and its also fun to make other people look and feel beautiful. In addition I feel like Id also learn more about beauty and ways to preserve youth not only for my clients but for myself as well. As a CRNA, though, it seems really exciting to be part of such big time action in the OR (i first fell in love with the thrill when I stood in on an open heart surgery with the anesthesiologist) and I feel like itd be really fun to be a CRNA in the field of plastic surgery if they do hire CRNAs. Plus less amount of critical life-threatening cases/procedures which is a little less pressure. And, of course, we all look at pay as one of the factors in career choice right lol (its not everything of course but its still a factor :) ) and i dont know whether CRNA or Aesthetics FNP would end up being more pay, cause google (i know, dont always trust google lol which is kinda my point and why im unsure) research keeps on showing CRNA as much more, yet i have someone i know telling me about these people in aesthetics that he knows of that work or are in charge of medspas that make like tens of thousands a month and im like... is this guy foreal? Lol. Another factor is school... im currently almost done with my FNP masters program by the end of 2021, but if i decide to go CRNA i will have to transition into an ICU then after that do school all over again and Im already 32 this year and dont know if that will age me significantly in my last years of youth and whether it will be worth losing out on the last years of squeezing out everything i can in my final decade of being (kind of) still young since ive been balancing school and work my entire life already. Or if pursuing CRNA wont do that to me as much as im overthinking it and whether it will be so worth it. But then there's aesthetics. So im SUPER torn!!! Nd running out of time to decide :( 3.) In your video, are the two numbers you provided (how much you made as bedside vs aesthetics) Net or Gross? Thanks so much to whoever answers for reading my long text! Lol. It is greatly appreciated 🙏
Thank you for being transparent. I'm a veteran nurse- almost 18yrs at the bedside. If I make the jump to aesthetic nursing, will this hurt me or benefit me? I'm done with the bedside-but I feel like my experience in L&D, the autonomy I have there, as well as my experience circulating for C/S, and recovering patients and caring for them post op will have given me skills I can use to my benefit as aesthetic nurse. Thank you again for your insight and advice!
PA here! These are the very reasons I left private practice derm where I did do some aesthetics as well as gen derm to accept a position at a university hospital
How and where did you get your esthetician license? How much clinical experience did you get before going on your own? I’m so over bedside nursing and I’m ready to have my own little business. 😩
I make 100k travel nursing here in Atlanta, Ga and cosmetic spas are big here ! I’m looking to transition. I completely understand about getting the certificate and then it’s like now what ??
I’m an MRI Technologist who had loved aesthetics for years. I keep going back and forth on should I go back to school. Your video was so helpful. Im so worried about leaving my comfort salary as opposed to doing what I love. How did you find a place to train and hire you being new? That’s what I’m worried about.
I watch this video over and over again. It makes me so happy and gives me hope! Were you nervous before you took the leap? And at what point did u decide it was time to do aesthetics?
Definitely nervous!! and I knew I wanted to do it three weeks in so I quit lol. I knew I needed to give it my all. it wasn't easy, but it gave me a push!
Very informative! You gave some good things to consider. Additionally I’m pretty sure that some other states don’t offer as good of health insurance as Cali hospitals.
Hi Lisa! That is a GREAT point! this is why I tell people "don't just watch my videos, read the comments! that is where this community has been built!" So thank you for sharing with us.

Can you talk about taxes for nurse injector? How much is the salary after taxes bedside vs nurse injector? Salary after your retirement and health care contribution. Thank you
Thank you thank you so much for posting this video! Can you talk about how you got into the field of aesthetics? I feel like it's so hard to get opportunities in the aesthetics field.
Acute/bedside is a lot more dangerous though compared to nurse injector, less chance to get something unwanted, you are not a chicken without head compared to acute, more flexible. It’s just different..
Thank you for another good video. I have a better understanding of the schedule. So then do you make your own schedule and do you get your own room at the dr. Clinics and build your clientele on your own? Are you able to work from home or travel to peoples homes?
I make my schedule based on the needs of the places I worked..it is a joint effort. If you work at a doctors office and they rent you a room then I suppose you can mark your own schedule :) I know you can do the travel to homes, but you have to have separate insurance that covers that and a doctor to oversee.
Thank you so much for this video!! 🤍 I am not a nurse yet, but considering getting into nursing in order to do aesthetic nursing / dermatology and maybe start my own clinic later on (with my mom who is also a nurse, but not accredited in the US yet.)
Nurse Janet! I’m obsess with you and everyone who works at the things we do! :-) I want to be a nurse injector. my question is, starting off with no experience what so ever in the industry, will starting off at like a med spa like ideal image give me a good learning experience? It will be a pay cut from a bedside job but I’m ready for the change just uncertain about the pay. Should I negotiate pay tho I have no experience? Thank you for all the insightful transparent advice ! Looking forward to hear and see more from you!
If I may ask, what is the average amount of gratuity that you receive or expect to receive from your regular follow up clients for Botox injection visits?
you can definitely ask! Thank you for being so polite! :) I don't accept gratuity because it is considered a medical procedure. Our prices are also higher because they pay for my expertise and knowledge. Very good question!
I have a question. If I want to get into this field do i need to also be certified as medical esthetician? Or being just a nurse will suffice? I did all the laser courses now I want I want to add injectable courses.
All your videos have been so helpful for me, I just graduated nursing school but in Mexico, I’m originally from Arizona and i will like to persue aesthetics in the US but honestly I don’t know where to start or how can I start because of that reason that I studied in Mexico, it will be really helpful if you have some recommendations. Thank you 🤍
Hi Janet, thank you for so much information as I've been interested in aesthetic nursing. Is most of aesthetic nursing mainly doing injectables and botox? Or is there any skincare type stuff that goes on?
Hi Jamie! This is a great question! So when I started it was a lot of Injectables only but then I realized that skincare plays a huge role in it and I began learning about the skin itself. Now I encourage people to work somewhere where they encourage good skincare for patients because it makes a difference in outcome.
Hi Nurse Janet. I am currently a lash tech and permanent makeup artist. I do have an eye for art and don’t mind needles and blood. I want to consider become an RN but I have a problem with memorizing medical term words 😅 and honestly that’s the only thing that makes me not confident. Can you shine some light on this? TIA 🙏🏻
hi, can you please describe the early stages of training and what you were paid during that time? did you work two jobs, were you commission based, etc.
Hi!! Believe it or not, back then during training I was paid min wage :( lol I can't believe I agreed to that but I did becuase it was a starting point. But this was training as a laser hair removal nurse. Once I began aesthetics I had my hourly which I believe was around $24 an hour plus a bonus/commission for what I did. I worked two jobs for about 3 weeks then fully committed to aesthetics :) you can watch my How I Became an Aesthetic Nurse video and I kind of dive into all the details and my journey. Hope this helps :)

Thank you girl, did you get for associates or bachelors in nursing ?? When applying for an esthetic nurse did they take that into consideration at all.??
Hi Brookleyn! I did want to get my Bachelors because I believed I wanted to work in a hospital and hospitals nowadays really only hire those with Bachelors. Great question!

HI! So it depends where you work on the pay, it is most likely an hourly plus bonus or something. The product gets paid for by the office you work at...nurses cannot buy product or even have an account with these companies without an MD.
@@MissMariahNicole The same thing applies for NPs because they are NURSE practitioners. They need an MD. The pay depends where you work. I can get paid more than a starting NP because of my experience.
Hey I have a question hope u get a chance to reply! Not sure if you covered this in any of ur videos I tried viewing a couple! How do I check the scope of practice for Registered Nurses in NY? For example in Cali I know its legal to do botox and fillers as an RN independently, but in NY I think its under a doctor only? Im not sure could you please help what resources I could use? Thank u hun!
Hi! you can check with your state board or check on AMSPA. they have some great information! I would start with your state board first! Also, in Cali we cannot practice independently even as a nurse practitioner. All practices who are legal have a MD as a medical director. Hope this helps!
HI, thanks for video . Im 44 yo and my motivation mind energy is so different and goimg back for an accelerated bsn is a huge decision and time commitment. I'm not sure and wondering how to determine if I really wants it. Im so confused and frustrated. I was prenursing as undergraduate and have all my prerequisites done and even after oer 15 years 2 schools accepting my prerequs. Cal state la has a 15 months program but my concern is the TEAS exam and they want 80% on each section huh.... I saw the hourly rate on indeed and it's around $35 to $50 per hour is this right or it can be more. I also noticed some estheticians make around there too without nursing school so I'm thinking of that too. appreciate any advice thanks
This is a great news for you! It sounds like the cards are aligning and you just need to decide the path. It is going to require some soul searching, but also some practical thinking. So the 80% on the TEAS is doable, definitely! I want you to get into the mindset of "If they can do it, why can't I?" This is going to be a driving force for you in all facets of life...I KNOW you can do it! An aesthetic nurse is different than an esthetician. An aesthetic nurse requires medical knowledge that only nursing school can provide so you will see, based on where you work you will get compensated for that. I don't know how to compare it to an esthetician who does facials because most estheticians I know have their own spot and take the full income but also have to pay for supplies and rent and etc. I would encourage you to know both fields make good money and you can make a good living. what will get you to succeed immensely is choosing the one you are most passionate about and really diving into that full force! the money just comes with it. I hope this helps!!!

I don't think it will hurt you at all. Life begins at the end of our comfort zone
Working at a Plastic Surgeon's should help where you could do both the Post op care and the aesthetics as well
PA here! These are the very reasons I left private practice derm where I did do some aesthetics as well as gen derm to accept a position at a university hospital
Nurse Janet your video really inspires me more to become an aesthetic nurse! 🥺❤️
I am soooo happy! Let me know if you need any help or have ?s! this field is amazing, but it can get confusing at times.
Yessssss❤ I needed to hear this!
Please Patrick! We need this loan forgiveness video 🙏
Yesss Patrick!! Lol
Extremely helpful video!! Thank you for being transparent. Highly appreciated.
of course!!! :)
Thank you for this video!!
Great content! Thank you Janet!!!
wow, the difference. Thats awesome! Congrats!!!
Thank you Chancie!
There are definitely some things that cost more on the status side but to me it’s worth it
Currently starting my nursing school journey ! Praying to be a np with an aesthetic practice 🥺🥺 thank you for all your tips !
Regarding the aesthetic nurse salary - Were you paid hourly or were you paid a percentage of each procedure you performed?
YES PLEASE Patrick do a video on public loan service forgiveness
Already up :) he gets chatty but it helps!
100k? Is that monthly?
You are so awesome for this
It had to be done! lol
Just found you today through this video! I’m looking to transition out of the military to this career field!
YASSSS!!!!
I really loved this video so much! Thank you ☺️
I watch this video over and over again.
I’m currently a licensed esthetician and do lashes and pmu but possibly want to get my rn to do aesthetics
Thank you for this video!! So helpful☺️
my pleasure :) let me know if you want other videos!
Thank you for this!
Hi Nurse Janet G ! How many working hours did you put in on your first year as Aesthetics RN? Is it more or less than working as bedside RN ?
HI EVERYONE! MY VIRTUAL CLASSES ARE NOW LIVE! HEAD OVER TO MY IG BIO TO SIGN UP!
I HOPE YOU ALL ARE READY TO EMBARK ON THIS JOURNEY TOGETHER AND LEARN! I CANNOT WAIT TO VIRTUALLY MEET YOU GUYS!
Thank you for your video! I have a question, can you be an aesthetic nurse with an ADN?
Can you talk about taxes for nurse injector? How much is the salary after taxes bedside vs nurse injector? Salary after your retirement and health care contribution. Thank you
Thank you!!!!! This was so helpful.
thank you sooo much :)
Thanks for you video. Would u say the salary for the aesthetics was based on equal hours at the bedside ? 24-32 hours a week that you mentioned?
Thank you thank you so much for posting this video! Can you talk about how you got into the field of aesthetics? I feel like it's so hard to get opportunities in the aesthetics field.
Hii!!
Check out my video how to become an aesthetic nurse :) I dive into my history!
@@NurseJanetG I went there right after posting this comment 🤦🏻♀️ thank you for getting back to me! You are amazing!
Hello, great video. What procedures do you/ your nurse colleagues do besides injections?
Acute/bedside is a lot more dangerous though compared to nurse injector, less chance to get something unwanted, you are not a chicken without head compared to acute, more flexible. It’s just different..
it is, I DO think acute/bedside nurses should be getting paid a lot more. Too much work for pay that doesn't match IMO
Not me watching this 5 months in and ready to quit bedside :')
U are incredible!❤️
:)
Very good video, thank you.🤔🙂
Thank you so much for this video!! 🤍 I am not a nurse yet, but considering getting into nursing in order to do aesthetic nursing / dermatology and maybe start my own clinic later on (with my mom who is also a nurse, but not accredited in the US yet.)
That sounds like so much fun!!!! Best of luck and keep me updated on your journey!
Very good question!
this video was so helpful thank you
I am so glad to hear that!
The benefit issue is the same for any NP going on his/her own
It is soooo difficult because health insurance is a must!
I have a question. If I want to get into this field do i need to also be certified as medical esthetician? Or being just a nurse will suffice? I did all the laser courses now I want I want to add injectable courses.
hi! so in cali and most states, you have to be a registered nurse only.
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 Praise you for this video
😘😘😘
Boss babe ✨✨✨✨✨
Love your support ❤️❤️❤️
Thank you so much!!!!!
When you took your RN classes, were you able to intern at a Dermatology office?

AS ALWAYS, THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR SUPPORTING ME
Thank you girl, did you get for associates or bachelors in nursing ?? When applying for an esthetic nurse did they take that into consideration at all.??
Hi Brookleyn! I did want to get my Bachelors because I believed I wanted to work in a hospital and hospitals nowadays really only hire those with Bachelors. Great question!
Can you explain how you got started and what you would recommend if you don’t have experience?
Check out “how to grow your aesthetic portfolio”..lots of tips in their for newbies!
Hi I’m new to your channel. I have a question, So, are you self employed or do you work alongside a doctor? I’m trying to become an aesthetic nurse
I’m adding this to my FAQ video I’m filming this week! Great ? !!!
What was you hourly rate as an aesthetic nurse? And did you get paid commissions?
$104,390.83 (first year)
Or you can listen to her repeat herself for almost 20 minutes!
Great video btw do you have long it takes to get your Bsn from Asn Thanks
Would it be beneficial to get your APRN degree?
Hi RPN can work as a aesthetic nurse??
Hello I was working in Dermatology And trained for Lasers and CoolSculpting many treatments. I am Medical Esthetician in Illinois. Finishing up some prerequisites for Associates in Nursing. Can I get hired in a Med spa or Derm with and associates degree!…
of course you can! :) it all depends on what their requirements are when they hire. KEEP IT UP!! great experience :)
Is it possible to get a job like this as a new grad nurse? I’m in nursing school and don’t have the option to do a career change and I’m very depressed thinking of doing nursing but aesthetic nursing interests me
of course! you just need to be persistent and not give up. it isn't easy but it can happen!

is aesthetics hourly plus commission? who pays for product? i’ve been wondering this i would really love to be in this field
HI! So it depends where you work on the pay, it is most likely an hourly plus bonus or something. The product gets paid for by the office you work at...nurses cannot buy product or even have an account with these companies without an MD.
@@NurseJanetG Ok thank you for responding! What about Np’s… ?
@@MissMariahNicole The same thing applies for NPs because they are NURSE practitioners. They need an MD. The pay depends where you work. I can get paid more than a starting NP because of my experience.
@@NurseJanetG glad NP’s will be able to open their own practices soon.
@@MissMariahNicole That is the hope!
Thoughts about community college??
Do you have to have your BSN or is an ADN okay?
Cali nurses make sooo much bedside 😲
Lol Cali living (esp Los Angeles) ain’t cheap
100% - but comes with Cali taxes too 😩
150k in loans?! 🤯🤯🤯oh nooooooo
It's robbery.
Thank you so much for this video! Very helpful! What about doing aesthetic nursing part time while doing beside full-time?
I think it is doable, but aesthetics takes up a lot of time, especially when it comes to building your clientele
Is that gross or net pay?
