I decided on the Ninja V due to the HDMI out for wireless video transmitter. @@HiethGeorge Thanks so if I understand correctly there is no Raw output on the R3 to ninja v so maximum would be 60fps 10bit? Thanks for your response
So, do I understand that correct, at about 6:10, this means, if I need a recorder for e.g. creating manuals and showing what's going in the configuration menus, I need the Ninja V and can't do it with the Shinobi?
Great comparison, thanks a lot for this. I'm now deciding the Shinobi would make much more sense for me since a lot of times I don't have access to a plug during a shoot, so I use all the battery I can get. And since I'm doing a lot of moving around and gimbal lifting I could really use the lighter weight. Also I have an a7iv which records 10bit 4K internally so I don't really see the need for the Ninja V at all. Just a question: I read the Shinobi uses NP-F battery types. With my Sony I use NP-FZ100 batteries. Would those be compatible with the monitor, by any chance? It was super helpful to watch your video, thanks again!
Are the Shinobi colors acurate with your camera? I noticed on my Ninja V they are very warm vs. my camera. So I returned it instead of spending more to calibrate it.
if i were to record 6k 30p or 4k 60p on the new lumix s5iiX, will this display on the shinobi...not record, just display the image on the shinobi for me to view while filming?
Great video Sam! But for me the Ninja V. That Pro Res RAW ability would be so useful, especially with the Sony A7siii. Certainly, if you don't need that external recording capability, the Shinobi is a no brainer!
Hi Sam. Really enjoyed this review. I am in the market for an external monitor/recorder. I have the Canon EOSR6 and it has the over heating issue. Do you think if I use the Ninja, I can avoid the over heating issue since the signal is being sent to the recorder? I would appreciate any feedback. Thanks man!
Hey thanks for the information. Question. Does it matter what year ninja v someone has? I seen one for sale and it had a 1920x1200 resolution… but others have 1920x1080. And new to this and I want to purchase one but not sure about certain specs. Will a firmware update change the resolution from old to new? Or should I just buy a newer model?
@@SamHolland much cheaper than the ninja ssd thanks I would like one for my s5 for the 6k raw but have windows based computer new and upto date but will I be able to use any of it due to not owning a Mac for the software ? Would the black magic be a better option for me? Thanks
So when I upload the footage into my computer do I send the video files from the SSD to the computer and then again send the files from the memory card and somehow combine them into one? Having 2 different forms of storage is very confusing as I'm brand new to the videographry world
Hi. No you just use the one file. Whichever one you prefer to work with. Prores (from the ninja v) will take up more storage space but it will run faster on your computer making it easier to edit. 🙏🏻 hope this helps 🎥

@@HiethGeorge Thanks so if I understand correctly there is no Raw output on the R3 to ninja v so maximum would be 60fps 10bit? Thanks for your response
What’s better for gaming vids
So, do I understand that correct, at about 6:10, this means, if I need a recorder for e.g. creating manuals and showing what's going in the configuration menus, I need the Ninja V and can't do it with the Shinobi?
That’s right
Great comparison, thanks a lot for this.
I noticed on my Ninja V they are very warm vs. my camera. So I returned it instead of spending more to calibrate it.
if i were to record 6k 30p or 4k 60p on the new lumix s5iiX, will this display on the shinobi...not record, just display the image on the shinobi for me to view while filming?
curious about this too
i'm also wondering
Great video 👍👍
Thank you 🤩🙏🏻🎥
These look amazing I've seen a lot of these at adorama
Does anyone have a problem not having full screen with Sony A7SIII?
DO YOU ALSO HAVE A VIDEO ABOUT THE: ATOM A5 VAXIS MONITOR? Please 😎
Is Shinobi compatible with Canon R6 Mark II and R5? Website says no, it didn’t know if anyone has had success with this.
Great video Sam! But for me the Ninja V. That Pro Res RAW ability would be so useful, especially with the Sony A7siii. Certainly, if you don't need that external recording capability, the Shinobi is a no brainer!
Thanks for watching brother! 🙏🏻🎥 great tools to have 🤩
If i shoot 4k 120p 10bit slog3 will i be able to view it on shinobi?
Thanks for this review! Does the ninja v have a recording time limit?
(Like canon’s 30 minute limit on its DSLRs)
Hey Jay. The ninja v takes an ssd card so it all depends on how big that storage is and what codec you record at. Hope this helps 🤩🙏🏻🎥
For me there is no question., Ninja V is a like a permanent extension of my R6 (unless I am shooting stills).
Hey man, why do you need the ninja V for your r6? I have an r6 as well. I bought the shinobi but now I can’t use the touchscreen while recording.
do any of these monitors play sound . if you was to play video back through from the camera via the hdmi input port . thanks ..
Does the Shinobi ever get hot to the touch?
Hi Sam. Really enjoyed this review. I am in the market for an external monitor/recorder. I have the Canon EOSR6 and it has the over heating issue. Do you think if I use the Ninja, I can avoid the over heating issue since the signal is being sent to the recorder? I would appreciate any feedback. Thanks man!
Love it ❤️❤️❤️❤️
I have never understood why can't a simple phone or iPad be used as an external monitor.
V ninja vs T owl? They're the same model
Just got the Nimja V+ ; why is nobody talking about the huge fan noise.
In the plus?? That’s a shame
Shinobi is sdi- hdmi converter too ?
Recording externally to the ninja V, will this work around the crop factor whilst recording in 4k at 60fps? (S5 user)
My Sony a6600 can record 10 bit 4.2.2 externally, so does that mean I need an external monitor that has to have a recording facility?
That’s right. The Ninja V will be the one for you. Along with an SSD hard drive. I use this one… geni.us/vVcJE
Hope this helps 🙏🏻🎥
@@SamHolland much cheaper than the ninja ssd thanks I would like one for my s5 for the 6k raw but have windows based computer new and upto date but will I be able to use any of it due to not owning a Mac for the software ? Would the black magic be a better option for me? Thanks
Do these monitors have touch focus?
So when I upload the footage into my computer do I send the video files from the SSD to the computer and then again send the files from the memory card and somehow combine them into one? Having 2 different forms of storage is very confusing as I'm brand new to the videographry world
Hi. No you just use the one file. Whichever one you prefer to work with. Prores (from the ninja v) will take up more storage space but it will run faster on your computer making it easier to edit. 🙏🏻 hope this helps 🎥
What's the use of paying 300 bucks just to watch it on a bigger monitor. We get the monitors to get better resolutions so the Shinobi makes no sense.
So is the Blackmagic Video Assist 5"/7" 12G HDR a complete no-no then?
Hi. I haven’t tried this monitor so I can’t comment on that.
Thanks for watching 🤩🙏🏻🎥
@@SamHolland you should, it's at least on a par with the Ninja range 👍🏼 Did you ever recover your drone? I still feel sick for you 😓
There’s a few monitors I’d love to try so I’ll add it to the list 🤩👌🏻 I also love the features of the DJI 4D monitor! That MF metering is insane!
Ah no I didn’t 😢 but I have a present coning from DJI soon 🤩🎉
@@SamHolland I've got the Blackmagic Video Assist 5" 12G HDR which I'll happily loan to you if you'd like to create a side by side review of the 3?
is there a difference in fan noise? i don't understand how ppl are using the ninja V and a mic next to it
Yeh there’s a massive difference but if you have the mic in the right position, it shouldn’t pick up the sound of the fan 👌🏻 I have plenty of audio and mic placement videos on my channel that should help if you need 🎥🙏🏻
@@SamHolland i must be blind .. coudln't find a comparison video between the ninja v and shinobi fan noise and also not on how and where to mount the microphone when using the ninja v .. can you send me the links? thanks in advance!
Hey. Here’s an audio video. It’s an old one but hope it helps 😂🙏🏻🎥 ruclips.net/video/GOcmq-swnmM/видео.html
@@SamHolland this one i watched, but it doesn't say where to mount the mic on a cage next to the external screen, which is what i wanted to know :) thanks though
Ohhhhhhh I’m with you. Sorry I didn’t know you meant that
a noob. No need for a monitor yet but this was handy
I have an A7s 3 with the Ninja V, and I have tried everything, I use exactly this configuration of yours, and yet the file of the camera cards in S-log 3 come out with more dynamic range, more washed, less contrasted and saturated than the files recorded on the SSD inside the Ninja, could someone help me???!
I’ve also noticed a slight difference in the image when recording with the Ninja V also 🤔
why would you not just use your ipad and the app, oh sorry i use a GH-5 then you can monitor it the same (just no external recordidng)
