I was working on my pool Monday. Well guess what alert I got. Flightradar24 N753D above 1500 ft. I knew you was back in Washington state. 👍🙌🤗 Thanks for the map lesson. 😀
I need to do that more often. I've got a bunch of relatively boring video from my recent trip that I really think would be more interesting if I showed the chart and then showed the actual view. Good projects to work on in upcoming months. I few over a whole lot of nothing on my trip to LA this past week.
@@FlyingMAir - I caught your stream in LA. I'm looking forward to your new videos. Yes. There is a whole lot of nothing if you are flying across the central valley. It's even worse when you drive it. LOL
If you're ever really curious about what all those symbols are, you can download the Aeronautical Chart User's Guide as a PDF from the FAA. (No need to buy a printed copy.) Here's the link: www.faa.gov/air_traffic/flight_info/aeronav/digital_products/aero_guide/
Yep. Signal Peak Lookout. There is a helipad about 500 feet SE of the tower. goo.gl/maps/BGHKXZe9QNW9uiy5A In the Middle East at the moment, so love seeing these beautiful videos of my home state! Thank you, Maria!
I don't think it's all that _"weird"_ of a fascination, even if somewhat of a _Pavlovian_ response to seeing them on a chart! It seems like I remember reading stories about those who work these fire-watch towers. The opportunity to live that remotely for just a few months (weeks?) at a time and, the views; as well as the responsibility and, trepidation - there's much to be interested in, I think so. Cheers-
We'll see. This most recent trip has me flying over a whole lot of nothing. I'm trying to think of interesting ways to present it. I like the idea of showing sectional chart pages (or regular maps) with what it actually looks like from the air, so expect some more of that.
I was so sure you were going to say your obsession with Fire Towers was because so many are aircraft obstacles and yet not identified on aero maps!! Boy was I wrong!! THANKS!!
I was. I'm in Oregon today and, with luck, will be in California tomorrow. I'll be back home making videos with a bunch of brand new footage next week.
Most intriguing Maria... fascination is good :)

Cool video. Love it when you show the Sectional chart and your plotted flight path.

Always figured those were symbols for peaks of mountains... super interesting, I love sectional chart trivia!

Thanks for the added info! Stay safe out there!
Come visit us in Sisters, Oregon sometime. Just a hop, skip and a jump from you. Always learn something from your videos. Tks

I would love it. I live a pretty solitary life at home these days; I'm sure I could do a month in a fire tower and enjoy it.
@@FlyingMAir - Agreed (add to bucket-list?) Cheers-
If you haven't, you should have a wide variety of photos of fire towers. Just another one to add to the collection.
Thanks Maria for something a little different. Next time, see if you can circle around or hover over some of the locations you show us. Thanks.

Maria, Thanks again for sharing.
Nice to see you up and flying. Be safe.
Thanks 👍
We learn something new every time we fly with you Maria! Very cool!

I fire tower like the ones shown don’t pose a threat though and don’t need to be marked.
I really have to get out more. haha Great map reading lesson! Thanks, Maria! Glad to see you're back in WA.

Do you know wranglestar on RUclips?
Nope.
So you’re back in your helicopter or still renting?
My helicopter has been leased to a friend in the Los Angeles area. He'll have it until May 15. I won't fly until I go down to bring it back.
@@FlyingMAir wasn’t it due for some major scheduled maintenance?
It'll go in for overhaul after this cherry season.
