I'm not selling my work, I'm not even close to that skill yet (but I'm learning!)... However, I think the free or 100% rule is great!

I am so in need of this info. I have to learn how to ask for what I'm worth. Thank you for sharing.

I am completely guilty of discounting my work for day job colleagues and acquaintances via friends! I purchased your course a couple of years ago and it was so helpful. I also appreciate this little refresher.

I havent started my own business to have a solid understanding on how to price my work yet and all these tips are really good advices for when i do start!
I have been lucky before to have helped a few close friends on designs for their business and even more blessed they were willing to pay way more for my services than i initially asked for (I was also so uncomfortable asking for a price then too). Having people know your worth really makes you feel appreciated

Brilliant advice! I’m a freelance writer and this info applies to anyone who sells a creative product. One more point about hourly rates - remember how many hours, months, YEARS it took you to gain your skills. That effort needs to factor in to your hourly rate. And don’t forget materials, too. It all adds up - and charging for it is reasonable and fair. Your clients need to support your entire business, not just the few minutes it took to do their specific project. 🥰

Thank you so much for the family friends discount thing. I wish I heard that sooner but this really helps my stress with selling art.

Thank you Becca for this video! Definitely going to check out the course, because I do all of this, except for the hourly rate. My thinking proces is: if I have a flat rate and don't do the math, I don't realize how low my hourly rate actually is.

Great video! My primary "product" isn't calligraphy, it's glass, so I actually have three categories: 100%, material cost only (since art glass is kinda expensive) and free (and therefore an outright gift). I think this could apply to calligraphers as well; for example if a friend or family supplies the paper and you gift the work, but perhaps the dollar amount isn't enough to make it worth doing? Anyway, just food for thought...
