Hey !! Can you make a video in which you talk about what supplies should we use on diffetent surfaces and a rough idea what should be its price.
Like if our client wants us to write their name on a wooden kitchen what pen should we use so that it's permanent and a rough price for that.
    Thank you

This is so helpful and true, not only for artists in the calligraphy world, but also for other artists and designers. Thanks so much for explaining it so well!

Becca, thank you. As a small business owner I agree with "do your research". My head starts spinning when a crafter states they sell so many items and their prices aren't even covering there costs. Ask them why and they reply, "That is all the people in my area will pay." Yikes!

Hey Becca, Thank you for touching the pricing topic. I don't know if my question is relevant but how do I charge labor pricing into products. For example if a job is taking 32 hrs of cutting on a machine and I'm there swapping out the mats and taking cut sheets off and putting new sheets on also doing other random work related stuff in between. Do I charge my hourly rate on it or is there any other calculation?

Becca...THANK YOU!! I'm just starting to think about charging for my calligraphy and lettering work, and am so grateful for the AMAZING bits of genius you share with us. I was so bamboozled by copyright the other day, and should have known youd have the answer. This pricing is super helpful.
    Two questions....!
    - I'm in little NZ and there aren't heaps of people that I can find charging for lettering projects. To find industry standard, should I also be comparing what people in OTHER countries are charging, or just those I can find here?
    - I genuinely feel like you should be making squillions from the level of info and help you provide for FREE! What's the best way to support you, other than the obvious buying work books and preaching?
    Once again, THANK YOU!!

I find that currency conversion makes it a little complicated, for example, $1 costs $4 in my currency and yet, the value of $1 alone is similar in both countries. When that’s the case, it’s pretty hard to price it that way. I would suggest to ask local calligraphers and stationers in your country to get an idea of the pricing.

This is great advice! Thank you. I was wondering if you had any suggestions for charging family members or friends who are asking for your services, and in most cases you are attending the wedding as a guest as well.

Hey Hailey!! If you can, sign up for Becca's webinar! I listened to her talk on this in a video she did for smallbizHQ or something, and she totally covered it so I'm hoping she will again!! I can't remember the details and Becca explained it so well that I won't let the cat outta the bag - I think you wanna hear it from her! It was very much about valuing your work and not over complicating

Reach out and ask! If you're coming from a place of wanting to lift up the community as a whole and let them know you're researching to make sure you don't undercut them, many artists will be willing to share.
There are also plenty of resources out there teaching pricing and providing baseline numbers for you (including... shameless plug... my course! www.panicfreepricing.com)

I look on Etsy to get a range of how much certain products and services cost. I also look for calligraphers on instagram and message them! Many are really nice and will talk to you about pricing, but don't share publically because of clients. But I guess that all depends on the market/area you live in.

@@gigi4love990 Thats great! I'd just be a liiiiiiittle more careful with Etsy, since many many many artists are undercharging on there! It's a good start, though!
