    I can always remember my dad say we can collect the big round mushrooms in the pastures where cows eat...he was right...they tasted so nice in an omelette 😋

    Very clear and informative. I'm always nervous about picking mushrooms. The only ones I'm certain about are shaggy inkcaps and 'hedgehog' mushrooms. Please, pleeease, can we have another video showing some more woodland mushrooms. Loads where I live, but I'm afraid to pick 'em!!

      @@Fromatic Because we are domesticated like dogs vs wild wolves. We dont get taught basic information in school like what is safe to eat or how to grow food to sustain yourself. Most people these days would die of starvation in a feild/forest full of wild edible food, or avoid an abundance of mutritiois mushropms for fear that it may be a toxic mushroom

    What places do you recommend to go mushroom foraging? I'm new to pick mushrooms, never see one chanterelle yet.

    • @GenericPurpleTurtle
      @GenericPurpleTurtle 3 года назад +1

      Many mushrooms will grow in specific habitats. Some in grasslands, some in woodlands. I most foragers, are secretive about where they go foraging, as they don't want their favourite spots being over run. I'm sure if you Google enough, you'll find some suggestions local to you.

    Well... there are two kinds I can identify,,,, but I'm not after that lol
    Are spore prints useful in identifying most types? if so it would be useful to have the spore prints for each, for peace of mind.

      Why not do your own research? Plenty of videos and comprehensive books out there. The video makes it clear that this is a beginner's guide

    • @MarkFaust
      @MarkFaust 3 года назад

      @@celine5668 Oh sorry, I did type that I am a bit new, so attack my ignorance rather than leaving my comment alone or helping. Where do you people come from anyways? Isn't my watching this video my own research? Simply be a little less uncaring and realize not many people are nearly as intelligent as you obviously are.

    • @celine5668
      @celine5668 3 года назад +3

      @@MarkFaust @Mark McAllister I recognise your intent might not have been rude, but it seems a bit rude to demand that somebody teach you about 'ALL' the edible varieties when it seems that a lot of effort has already been put into this video and the video claimed to be a video for beginners. If you'd like some help, I've found mushroom groups on Facebook to be a great source of info and they can also recommend a lot of good field guides. I'm also new to learning about edible mushrooms but the body of knowledge is so vast (and it seems so easy to make a deadly mistake) that it's best not to rely on one person's info anyway and instead to learn from many experts who can give different tips on identification.

    you should cut mushrooms with a knife just above the soil in order for it to re-grow. Picking them the way it is shown destroys the habitat!

      Don't pull the entire mushroom up..... It does my head in that people are ignorant enough to do this..... If you are going to pick mushrooms do it the correct way......... Please.....

    • @GenericPurpleTurtle
      @GenericPurpleTurtle 3 года назад +2

      I'm not sure there's much truth to that. The mushroom is the fruiting body of a fungus, the majority of the fungus is the mycelial web, found underground. That will live regardless of how you pick it. However, picking the mushroom stops them spreading spoors. Leaving some mushrooms to develope will help get more spores out.
