Morning, Paul. Fairly new subscriber (almost a year now), second-time commenter. Your shave's every Wednesday and Sunday gives this final year university student something to look forward to during revision. Final exam on Tuesday, so the upcoming midweek shave gives me all the more reason to be excited! Enjoy your Sunday. P.S. Your back catalogue of videos, though I've seen them before, have also provided welcome stress relief.
+Harrison Wilson Good luck with your final exam Harrison, Wednesday's shave will mean it's all done and dusted, glad you enjoyed the videos, all the best....Paul.
Well I never, Imperial leather as shaving soap, would never have thought to use it. Very entertaining shave Paul.. I can not believe your on seventh use with blade. Flowers are lovely Mrs H... Have a good dinner and enjoy rest of the day. All the best
Ha! Mr. PaulH! I have bought my first 6 pack of Imperial Leather soaps a few weeks ago and a Talc as well and yes, the sent is just great! I also bought a 4 pack of Wright's Tar Coal Scent soap, because in one of your videos you said it has a very strong scent (and yes it does, but Imperial Leather is nicer). Great idea and great end result of your experiment! Thank you very much for keeping your videos fresh and interesting and entertaining and very funny as well. Have a lovely dinner Mr. and Mrs. H!
+Dominik Rzepa Thank you Dominik, nice scent in this soap isn't it, I also have the talc, great stuff. In Australia they have the aftershave too....all the best and thanks again, all the best...Paul.
+PaulHFilms Wow! You have a great memory Sir (remembering that I'm in Australia)! Now I have to buy aftershave for sure and before the summer starts (in December) I will definitely buy Frost Byte by Phoenix Artisan Accoutrements just to experience cooling sensation and watery eyes! Thank you kindly for all great videos and for entertaining the wet shaving community and I will patiently await for the Wednesday shave video! Have a great week and see you soon!
Paul, a favorite combo of mine is a regular bar of Ivory soap with a tsp of hand lotion (scent of choice). Loads of lather with an exceptional post shave.
Absolutely fantastic!!! one of your best videos. This afternoon (here in Australia) had a simple shave and used the Imperial Leather aftershave. And (I swear to you) I said to myself, why don't they do an Imperial Leather shave soap and then you do this video. We used to have Imperial leather soap at home, but us kids weren't allowed to use it. It was for Mum and Dad's use only. So, thanks for sharing your ingenuity and I'm going to get myself some imperial leather soap and use it to shave with and then apply the Imperial Leather aftershave. Thanks so much for being brave and doing this one Paul. much appreciated.
+Mike Sumner Thanks Mike, two minds think alike..lol...love this scent, yes shaving soap would be great, all the best Mike....enjoy your shave....Paul.
There was a barber in Taunton/Somerset and he always used Imperial Leather hand soap as a shaving soap. He wasn't shaving the face but after the hair cut, he used to shave the back of the neck with a straight razor(Timor 5/8), lather by an Unknown boar hair brush and Imperial leather hand soap. One thing I noticed that he used to hold the brush under very hot running tap water, then load the brush on Imp.Leather then apply the lather then strop the razor and I never felt any discomfort or pulling or anything like that.I also tried using this very soap as a shaving soap and yes it can be used if you run out or can't find a shaving soap. Another alternative to shaving soap/cream is a hair Conditioner.
Thanks Paul , I watched Sunday morning before Hay Time . Great Shave , I know guys that use Body Bar Soap , usually in the Shower to Shave . My Mac has be down , so I'm trying to get things straightened out after getting it back . But the Feather made it to 21 , but 21 wasn't too great , good Shave , but tugged . I retired it . Thanks for the vids , and Mrs H for the lovely flowers . See you Weds , have a Great Week !
'Tahiti looks nice - Simon - Tahiti !' I've used Cusson's Imperial Leather most of my life and I swear by it as bar soap - quite luxuriant compared to other regular bar soaps and is the basis of my pre-shave prep. You could do this with a Dove bar as well. I used to use this sometimes when I would shave in the shower with a cart razor. I used to find sometimes after a rinse though that the skin can sting a touch - soon wears off though. You have to make sure you rinse the soap off properly . Great shave Boy-o !
WOO HOO First comment !!! . I see you beat me to get a haircut Paul, I'm due tomorrow (Sunday here) I am getting too shaggy also . Wow, 7 shaves on that blade is crazy good man ! It is made in China and imported by India according to Amazon , not that it matters. If it works, it works I say. Beautiful flowers , Mrs. H always delivers , and I hope you have a GREAT Sunday buddy ! You have taught me a new trick with that soap !
+nilo drallub First eh, congratulations!...lol....yes had to get a haircut, a bit tidy now. Hope you have a good haircut too Nilo....all the best and thanks....Paul.
Incredible shave. I love Imperial Leather as a soap to wash with. You can't get much better than the Progress, fantastic razor. I think one of the best things about our hobby is trying new ideas out. Be it home-made soaps, new ways to shave rather than the standard three-pass system.
I say!! From Imperial Leather to Imperial lather with just some bristle and glycerin. Interesting as always to watch and listen. Thank you! Visited bodyshop here in Sweden and got some free sample of the maca root cream. Impressive product. Just 1 or 2 ml of soap in a bowl and a little swirl with the brush and it explodes into a thick creamy slick lather. Know what to wish for my next birthday...
I found this video specifically, because I wanted to see if anyone else had tried the same thing. I generally struggle with sensitive skin around my neck area, and had tried a heap of different soaps and creams, and they were all very similar. However, a couple of days ago, after noticing just how well the Imperial Leather lathers in the shower, I figured I'd try shaving with it as well. OMG, I still can't believe just how well it works as a shave soap as well. I just start the lather in the hand, and then finish on my face. I find it plenty slick enough, maybe even more so than some of the shave soaps that I have. I never thought of adding Glycerin though, I have a stack left over from when I was vaping, so I might give it a go.
I was listening to this video while shaving this morning. After finishing three passes with TOBS cream, I was inspired to try the Coast bath soap that was sitting on my sink. I lathered it up and used it for my touch-up pass. All I can say is wow! I ended up with a very nice BBS shave. Will have to try it for the regular passes when I get a chance.
+zarchy55 That is great, shaving the same time, nice that the bath soap worked for you too, it can open new options of trying new soaps in different ways....thanks and all the best....Paul.
Great shave Paul, Imperial leather is one of my favourite's, I must admit that the question of using a hand soap for shaving was one of the things that come to my mind a while ago now you've answered the question great shave, like you said you've got to be careful of the skin drying out. All The Best Mark.
magnificent pual wonderful idea! posh peasantry at it's finest! i gound that high moisturizing bar soaps work best before i started de shaving i would take the soap bar to the face without a brush it gave me better slickness than can shaving cream!
Another great shave Paul, I have also experimented like this with handsoaps. The only one that worked for me as good as the leather worked for you is. Bath and body works coconut. Worked fantastic. But then again I use pores have oil as well. I wish I could make Irish spring work for me as I love that scent. And you busted me today I am shaving along to this. My shave is my black beauty on setting 5 with a third use wilkinson sword in it. My presage oil I crated that smells like lime candy. My cream is TOBS coconut. My aftershave is Aquavelva blue. And my lotion is Nivea original. Have a good week and see you next shave.
+King_Of _Collectibles Sounds a great shave that, always worth a try with a hand soap you think is good enough, makes a change too....all the best and thanks...Paul.
Excellent shave Paul! Will that blade ever end? Fantastic! I've shaved with Dial hand soap while camping, and that was with a multi-blade disposable razor and no brush. It was thin and I had to keep lathering up but it did the job. I wonder if your soap smells like the old English Leather Cologne from the 1960's. It came in a glass bottle with a big wood screw cap, wonderful smell filled with memories from "back in the day"! Loved the "long flowers" Mrs. H! I know they weren't gladiolas but that is what they reminded me of. My mom had great glad's as she called them, they bloomed in September, and when I married Ms. S and she became Mrs. W my mom had her glad's at the church. Both of you have a terrific Sunday! Sincerely, Ossie
+Ossie Weinert Thanks Ossie, yes the blade is lasting...lol...probably does smell like that Old English Leather, great isn't it....can't beat "Long Flowers"...lol....all the best to you and Mrs W......Paul.
Hi Paul, looked up Imperial Leather shaving soap on google and it seems that they did make it once. Will give the glycerin and soap a try though as I also love the smell. Great video as always from David in Port Sunlight
+steve jones Ah right, they also made aftershave which is still available in Australia , didn't know that either....thanks David....Port Sunight is a very nice area.... Paul.
I was getting horrible irritation and razor bumps, it was horrible. Through a process of elimination, II narrowed it down and it was my Lavender Witch Hazel that was the culprit. I do miss using this product, the smell is fantastic and it was so refreshing.
Nice video Paul! I have shaved with a Greek glycerin hand soap and that soap is having tallow too in its ingredients. I have to admit it was a fair enough shave! Now I'm using it as a preshave!
+PaulHFilms come to think of it, prior to wetshaving i would shave using hand soap very often when my can of goo would run out. i didn't use a brush just lathered it like normal when washing my face. It was drying on the skin, but slick enough when shaving.
Great to see your tinkering has taken shape -I know i mentioned that ImpL changed formula fairly recently to compete with dove and other moisturiser based soaps - the original bars to me were slicker beasts and in my teens was my go to shave soap. new bars still have the great scent though, just no staying power in the suds.
+i Cryostorm Just had to try it..lol....worked well, better than I thought actually, the old bars used to be much bigger if I remember right too...Cheers Alistair.
Great video Paul. there's one here in the states called KIRK S CASTILE the original coconut oil soap and they make one with aloe Vera. I was quite surprised how they performed.
Wonderful outcome to your experiment. Congratulations!!! I did an experiment myself on the same Sunday. I had never before shaved with a Eversharp Schick Injector Razor and as with you the result was s smashing success. I have some Imperial Leather on order because I wanted to know how it smells. I look forward to repeating your experiment with some added twists of my own in a future shave. Thanks for show. :)
Hi Paul, another great video! It's funny I have grown up using Imperial Leather soap and unfortunately it's not available in Canada otherwise I would pick one up and try to shave with it!! Take care!
+Stanley Choi Thanks Stanley, just an idea I had, as I love the scent of this soap, shame it's not available there, not even online?....all the best...Paul.
+PaulHFilms Hi Paul, thank you for your quick reply! It's 3:00am in Vancouver Canada. I can't get any sleep because we have a two months old and a three years old and they both wouldn't sleep!! So thank you for your videos to keep me entertained!! Believe me they do help me thru many sleepless night, especially when I was bottle feeding my two months old. I might consider ordering a bar or two of the imperial leather thru eBay just to bring back my childhood memories! By the way, have you had a chance to try the Merkur Vision 2000?
you can get imperial leather talcum powder that I use and I have seen the matching after shave too. never tried it might be something for you to hunt down.:-)
I had always wondered about using a handsoap to shave due to the lather on some of them. Perhaps Dove with moisturizer would work as well. Thanks for the idea!
Another great video. My very good friend shaves with water only after the shower as he has very sensitive skin. I tried that blade you're using but don't care for it. I do love its brother the Gillette Permasharp(green box, India, same factory) and have gotten 14 shaves from one blade and I just had shave #6 on the current one. I am going to be buying them when I get through some of my other sample blades.
+Dean S Thanks Dean, good idea shaving in the shower, I know many do it.. nice when you find a blade that works well for you isn't it.....all the best....Paul.
i happen to have one unopened imperial lether bar i think ive save it for my next shaving soap instead buying those epensive shaving soaps that areactually smaller than theas one they are good too
Great shave Paul. I used Irish Spring soap to break in some new brushes and noticed it lathered up wonderfully and smelled great. So I thought why not try shaving with it, but reconsidered after checking RUclips. They said it left their skin dry and raw. Maybe the glycerin will help. Please comment in the Wednesday shave, if you would, how it left your face feeling. Thank you.
+dtr130 Thanks for your comment, I felt great after this shave, no irritation, dryness or rawness....but I did use witch hazel and applied good moisture cream. Worked a treat for me....all the best....Paul.
Sweet shave, Paul! Just don't let his lordship watch this, you peasant! Lol Shhhhhh! Mrs. H and I are switching out your blade every night. We're hope Gillette watches your vids and signs you to a multi-million pound sponsorship contract! "Gillette, the best PaulH can get" :) My best to you, Mrs. H and Alys -Jonathan
+SurfingSamurai Thanks Jonathan, no his Lordship must not see this, won't speak to me again...lol. ah so it's you two messing with my blade....right. security will be increased. All the best....Paul.
Really neat shave, Paul. I have tried shaving with Pear's. It worked okay, but certainly not as well as how the Imperial Leather did for you. I used to shave with Noxzema sometimes, but I haven't tried it with a DE razor. I've been thinking about trying Dove as a shave soap, as well. If you think about it, though, it would have to be a pretty inexpensive soap to be cheaper than Palmolive...
Always worth a try Patrick, and many people shaved with hand soap in the past, and your right, Palmolive is so good and inexpensive....all the the best and thanks....Paul.
Nice haircut Playboy : ) you're looking younger every video must be your Positive Energy keeping you young you're like Benjamin Button. I'm the one who's been stropping that blade, water the flowers from time to time too ; ). Have a Wonderful day Paul, Thanks for making mine : ) Tyler
+Tyler Murphy2975 Thank you Tyler, looking younger eh....good news that. Thanks for stropping the blade and watering the flowers, very kind of you....lol...all the best....Paul.
Great experiment Paul - waiting for the 25th shave with the blade and shower gel instead of shave soap or cream .... Sorry just joking you infected me😜 - regards from Germany - Christoph
I really enjoyed the video Paul. I tried once Dove body soap to shave with and it worked well, But it left my face feeling very dry and also left it red. I wouldn't do it again but it was worth trying anyway.
Great job, Paul! If you don't re-apply moisturizer after 2-3 h, you have a face-lifting for almost free. ;-D Actually, there were/are Old Spice hand soaps, but they are quite rare today. But you easily find Old Spice bath/shower soap on a rope, which is basically the same. I just catched 4 pieces in the bay for a great deal. Have a nice Sunday, seeing you on Wednesday, best regards, Dan.
how strange Paul.... very interesting indeed - i'm impressed with the choice of soap ... its funny i used nivea for men shaving foam the other day - post shave was pretty good to be honest , just goes to show its easy to assume de shaving has to be done with a shaving soap... Palmolive washing up liquid would be just as versatile - to be honest , i have used it before many times in the past to shave with , i wanted to find an alternative to the cans of gel i used to use from gillette when i used a cartridge razor - to be perfectly honest with you it worked very well , very slick and did the job - granted , did leave the face alittle dry - remedied by a good balm , kind regards Mark .
+technically brilliant Thanks Mark, yes a bit different in this one, nice to try, and happy it worked out....I can experiment with other hand soaps in future now....just something different, glad the Nivea foam worked for you too...all the best Mark....Paul.
its good to think outside the box sometimes paul - but you nailed it in your last video :O) see you wednesday . - close up on ya flowers so when you stumble , some of us can enlighten you ;^) - all the best
Nice video Paul . the primary concern with using a hand or body soap is that they use harsher scents and ingredients so if your super sensitive only use as a last resort and I wouldn't recommend following up with aftershaves just rinse really well. CHEERS
+Curt Bradley Thank you Curt, yes this is only a test video really to see if it can be done, hopefully common sense does provail, but it did work well for me I must say, all the best....Paul.
Hi Paul. I lived in Australia for a while, imperial leather aftershave is very readily available there, the main supermarkets stocked it, was cheap as chips. Assuming it's in the uk? Take care, Owen 💈
+Owen Parratt you're absolutely right. I live in Australia and have the Imperial Leather aftershave and used it today in fact. Can you get the IL aftershave in the UK?
+Owen Parratt It is great stuff, I have not seen the aftershave available around here, but expect we can get it online.....a good combo that would be....thanks...Paul.
i used to use Johnsons baby soap as a shaving soap, works great. i held the bar of soap in the palm of my hand charged the brush then face lathered.the reason i chose Johnsons is that its for sensitive skin. my da used to love to wash with the red or green carbolic soap. as you say imperial leather was posh. the Williams ice blue very nice, one that i often use tell ya what mate there is more entertainment on this channel than the BBC lol cracking vid as always catcha laters
+Daniel Koinis Thanks Daniel, the scent is a woody, musky, old spice type of scent, very nice indeed, and one that you will never forget...all the best...Paul.
Now all the flowers of the type I will call long flowers. Before that I was shaving with hand soap. Moreover, I was shaving and laundry soap, and natural oils, olive and sunflower, and even water alone. The only thing that I have not tried it handmade soap. Usually begin to make homemade soap in the decree housewives who care for delicate newborn skin, and are starting to make homemade soap. And then soap and shaving. So I understand you, want to try everything that does not harm. What I also like the use of toilet soap, so that after it easier to clean the ball and the razor.
@@PaulHFilms Hope you and Mrs H are well there in Wales. The A/S is $10 here in Aus. I buy gallons of it. Going to try the soap with some glycerine. Which Gillette blades did you use? Indian or Chinese made? Also, have you used Gillette Nacent blades?
hi Paul a great vid. Been d.e shaving for a month or so and its going well. When I was younger and skint I shaved very often with hand soap and disposables lol. I've used many different brands and always worked. How do u rate the merkur progress as I am thinking of getting one. Cheers mate.
+Nik Lawrence Yes, always handy to know what works isn't it...the Progress is a great razor, good quality and adjustable, so can have a slight aggressive feel if you wish.... good luck.....Paul.
Few times I was shaving with bar soap, dove works pretty good. Good looking razor. Do you have problems with that handle, grip seems odd ? best regards from Croatia.
Interesting....I love the smell of Pears soap...takes me back to when I used to visit my rich uncle...I used to think this was for posh people....you can buy 2 for £1.00 from some of the pound shops so it can't be that posh.
Good old soaps, the original Imperial Leather was much bigger than these are today, so probably that has something to do with it. It was more expensive in those days compared to other soaps.
+Tony E Roast pork , mashed and roast potatoes , cauliflower, carrots , broccoli and lots of gravy plus yorkshire pudding? Sorry Paul :-) Greetings from Czech Rep.
+Tony E I did indeed, with all the excitement..lol.. Roast Duck Breasts, Royal Jersey new potatoes, broccoli, cauliflower, roast potatoes, marrow fat peas and gravy.. Thanks Tony.
+PaulHFilms lovely! enjoy my friend. Me and the Mrs settled for a Marks and Spencer's roast lamb ready meal today. they're great if you want a lazy day! ;-)
I hope you managed to order one of these! shavingtime.co.uk/collections/wickham-soap-co/products/wickham-soap-super-smooth-imperial-trevor-limited-edition-shipping-23rd-may
That Gillette / Wilkinson sword blade is going above and beyond the call of duty. I think that blade deserves a spot on the shelf behind you !!!
It should be framed as someone said before..lol...all the best...Paul.

Nice one Paul 😌👍 well you surprised me, I never would have guessed that would have worked so well 😱
Beautiful "long flowers" from Mrs H 😌👏
+Dave C It was great, better than I thought it would be too really, all the best Dave.....Paul.
When I started shaving in 1976 that's what my father did when the bar soap got small in the shave mug it went...and did it for many years
+ct boy Yep, many did it, and got the job done....all the best...Paul.
Good morning Paul. Well...that was an interesting shaving experiment. Thanxs for sharing. Nice flowers 😊
+Thomas A. Thank you Thomas.

Flowers are lovely Mrs H...
Have a good dinner and enjoy rest of the day.

Sounds like a good barber, know his profession well to do that....nice scent isn't it...thanks for the comment.....Paul.
I think you have a new favorite blade. Hey Paul now you don't have to buy any more soap. Imperial leather for the win. =)
+David Torres Quite agree David..lol.
I have tried this before. I even blitzed two bars in a food processor, with some Nivea moisturising cream and glycerine. It worked like a champion.
+dalriada842 Good idea that, always worth a try isn't it...all the best....Paul.
I often shave with Ivory bar soap and 1 tsp of hand lotion. Clean, very close with a great postshave. And very cheap.

Another great video! And when you mentioned soap from school, that is the thought that hit me as soon as I smelled Arko!
+T Borden Yes, that's right, funny how scents bring memories straight back isn't it...all the best....Paul.
Good shave Mr. Paul enjoyed it! And it does smell good! :-) atb worth waiting up for! Going to bed now!

+Mark Martin Thanks for waiting up Mark, have a great nights sleep....all the best..Paul.
Paul I always enjoy watching you shave! Great idea to try a hand soap.
Thank you, and I appreciate you watching too....all the best....Paul.
Brilliant as per Usual Paul ...........!!!!
+Chris Morley Thanks Chris.
Tune in next week to see Paul use Fairy Liquid! 'Now hands that do dishes can feel as soft as your face.....'
+Andrew Wild "With mild green fairy liquid"....good advert that..lol.
Paul try a palm olive hand soap bar lol thanks Paul
magnificent pual wonderful idea! posh peasantry at it's finest! i gound that high moisturizing bar soaps work best before i started de shaving i would take the soap bar to the face without a brush it gave me better slickness than can shaving cream!

Paul I did the same thing with some hand soap many years ago. The reson I did it was I had ran out of shave cream. It worked.
+S&Tguy Yep, that's all you need....as long as it works...all the best...Paul.
But then again I used preshave oil*
+King_Of _Collectibles Sounds a great shave that, always worth a try with a hand soap you think is good enough, makes a change too....all the best and thanks...Paul.
A few years back I used to use Clinique soap to shave with. Always seemed to work well.
+Andrew Munro Always worth a try Andrew, all the best ..Paul.
I sometimes use the wrights tar soap if i'm in a rush. get a cracking slick shave and the smell is magic.
+J W Amazing scent on that isn't it.
I shaved for many years with Ivory brand bath soap and a disposable razor. Shaved great.
+eric whitlow Yep, if it works......thanks ..Paul.
+Ossie Weinert Thanks Ossie, yes the blade is lasting...lol...probably does smell like that Old English Leather, great isn't it....can't beat "Long Flowers"...lol....all the best to you and Mrs W......Paul.
paul hello, what i do sometime for a change is use coconut oil(the stuff you cook with) and then use "simple" unscented soap. try it. best regards
Good idea that.
+Tony Marinelli That is amazing, never thought it would be that....glad you found out what it was Tony...all the best....Paul.
Nice video Paul! I have shaved with a Greek glycerin hand soap and that soap is having tallow too in its ingredients. I have to admit it was a fair enough shave! Now I'm using it as a preshave!
+akis hd Yes some work well, always worth a try....thanks....Paul.
Did exactly that in Uni... Broke student.... Survived many a time .... Good one Paul
Works a treat doesn't it.....all the best...Paul.
Funny video Paul, i lathered up a few hand soaps before, but never actually shaved with them.
See if you can shave with Swarfega next 😉
+DeeDeeDanone Swarfega...lol...yes.
+Wolfe Davis Some hand soaps are amazing aren't they....all the best..Paul.
Thank you, and good luck with your shave using this....all the best....Paul.
It smells wonderful and gives a decent shave. Love it.
you can get imperial leather talcum powder that I use and I have seen the matching after shave too. never tried it might be something for you to hunt down.:-)
+two fast Yes I have the talcum powder, must get the aftershave now, thanks....Paul.
I had always wondered about using a handsoap to shave due to the lather on some of them. Perhaps Dove with moisturizer would work as well. Thanks for the idea!
+Roger G Worth a try Roger.....all the best.
+Dean S Thanks Dean, good idea shaving in the shower, I know many do it.. nice when you find a blade that works well for you isn't it.....all the best....Paul.
iv a friend who only Shave's with bath soap might try it myself just got to find a scent ..coal tar sounds interesting
+Andrew Mowbray It works very well Andrew, especially with adding a bit of glycerin to give it more glide and slickness.
i happen to have one unopened imperial lether bar i think ive save it for my next shaving soap instead buying those epensive shaving soaps that areactually smaller than theas one they are good too
Great shave Paul.
Great idea to try Paul and seemed to work well for you
+Steven Scott Thanks Steven, yes, it was well worth a try, worked well....all the best...Paul.
Port Sunlight is beautiful you and other viewers of your channel should visit
+steve jones Yes been many times, used to park there and catch the train to Liverpool years ago.
Paul we need to call the phantom stropper to help those who use cartridge razors!
Yes, he would sort it out..lol
I used shower soap on my second shave with a straight razor
+SpikeG. jr. That is a good test.
Great video as always Paul thanks
+jesterblade77 Thank you.
+Tyler Murphy2975 lol - playboy paul and the phantom stropper next up on stage.
Great experiment Paul - waiting for the 25th shave with the blade and shower gel instead of shave soap or cream .... Sorry just joking you infected me😜 - regards from Germany - Christoph
+Oliwan100 Lol....thanks Christoph.
The times I've used a regular hand soap to shave, it never occurred to me to lather it up like a shave soap. Interesting!
+portydert portydert It worked a treat, it's not shaving soap obviously, but did a good job :-)
I really enjoyed the video Paul. I tried once Dove body soap to shave with and it worked well, But it left my face feeling very dry and also left it red. I wouldn't do it again but it was worth trying anyway.
+steven lamond Yes nice to have a go, but it isn't shaving soap at the end of the day as you say....all the best Steven.....Paul.
Great job, Paul! If you don't re-apply moisturizer after 2-3 h, you have a face-lifting for almost free. ;-D
Actually, there were/are Old Spice hand soaps, but they are quite rare today. But you easily find Old Spice bath/shower soap on a rope, which is basically the same. I just catched 4 pieces in the bay for a great deal.
Have a nice Sunday, seeing you on Wednesday, best regards, Dan.
+Don Dan Very true that Dan...lol..yes remember old spice hand soaps, all the best Dan.....Paul.
get your skates on lol I love it!
+mxm190 Thanks :-)
I think the school soap you talk about is Ivory soap, smells like Williams mug soap.
currently my favourite razor.
+Joseph Dickson It's great isn't it....thanks...Paul.
Hi Paul,
Would love to try that Williams Ice Blue European version aftershave. Too bad it's not available in Canada :(
Cheers Mate All the best!
Thanks Robert, strange these are not available there, all the best mate....Paul.
how strange Paul.... very interesting indeed - i'm impressed with the choice of soap ... its funny i used nivea for men shaving foam the other day - post shave was pretty good to be honest , just goes to show its easy to assume de shaving has to be done with a shaving soap...
+Mike Sumner Not available that I've seen Mike, but online it is probably.
Hi Paul, wonder if its possible to shave with just Glycerin, just a thought lol.
+John Mason You probably could, better than nothing, not sure I would just use it though....thanks John.
i used to use Johnsons baby soap as a shaving soap, works great. i held the bar of soap in the palm of my hand charged the brush then face lathered.the reason i chose Johnsons is that its for sensitive skin.
my da used to love to wash with the red or green carbolic soap. as you say imperial leather was posh.
the Williams ice blue very nice, one that i often use
tell ya what mate there is more entertainment on this channel than the BBC lol
cracking vid as always
catcha laters
+John James Thanks John, always appreciated mate. The Johnson's soap sounds great yes, all the best John....Paul.
good morning Mr. Paul
+Mark Martin Good Morning Mark :-)
Hello Sir Good afternoon hope you had/have a good Sunday Roast! With LASHINGS of gravy! :-)
nice video.i think that i'll try shaving with Dove..it'a a nice hand soap.how are you😊?
Good soap that yes, I am fine thank you, and hope you are too....Paul.
Hi Paul I bought muehle R 106 couple of days back . have you ever used that razor and if yes what do you think about it? thanks
+Gagik Khalatyan I don't have this razor sorry, so can't give any thoughts on it...Paul.
Paul, great video as usual. Would you mind describing the fragrance? I've never smelled Imperial Leather before, though it sounds wonderful :)
+Dismont DeSire Amazing what can actually work isn't it....thanks for the comment and all the best....Paul.
Why didn't you use the Imperial Leather aftershave?
Most likely didn't have it at the time Andrew
@@PaulHFilms Hope you and Mrs H are well there in Wales. The A/S is $10 here in Aus. I buy gallons of it. Going to try the soap with some glycerine. Which Gillette blades did you use? Indian or Chinese made?
Also, have you used Gillette Nacent blades?
3 years on, would you still recommend saving money by buying hand soap, or is it better to save with other consumables like blades and aftershave?
I would say buy shaving soap or cream if you can, but you can shave with handsoap, even better if you shave with it in the shower...thanks
hi Paul a great vid.
Thanks for posting. How did your face feel 2-3 hours post shave? Did you feel dry?
No it felt very good, I was amazed really, yet I did use Witch Hazel, so along with the mositure cream it worked a treat.....thanks Jeremy.
Hahaha...OK, I'll try the Wilko Gillettes from India for a lark. They seem to be doing well for you and for $10 a hundred , worth a go.
+Mark O'Cain They work a treat for me Mark, amazing....unless I have a one off blade...lol...hope not....good luck mate.
Few times I was shaving with bar soap, dove works pretty good.
Good looking razor. Do you have problems with that handle, grip seems odd ?
best regards from Croatia.
+crowowteam Worked well I thought, no problems with the handle or grip, as long as there is no soap on it, it grips well.....thanks...Paul.
Thats what we call a Yorkshire Shave in Huddersfield.
It's known as a welsh shave too..lol.
Had a idea it might be..
My father refused to use canned shaving cream, when the Old Spice or Williams shaving mug got low, he would just use a bar of Ivory Soap.
+Cheapshaver Amazing, must be something right about using soap this way, good old ways never fail...all the best and thanks for sharing that.....Paul.
It was more expensive in those days compared to other soaps.
you have to try and get some Nu-skin NAPCA. The best moisturizer on the planet.
Paul I am shaving along with you all the time))) I hope you dont mind))
+Gagik Khalatyan That is fantastic, hope you enjoyed yours too :-)
+PaulHFilms yes Paul I enjoyed it big time ! and remember I was asking about muehle R 106 ? so its a fantastic razor I tried it today))
I think it is a special soap for the body, not for shaving
lol @ "long flowers" 😆
+Ronnie New species...lol.
NAPCA....The actual moisturizing factor found in human skin. it's also produced in mothers milk.
+Greg Wagner Learn something everyday...thanks Greg.
Paul, you forgot to say what your Sunday lunch will be! You lose brownie points there mate!
+Tony E Roast pork , mashed and roast potatoes , cauliflower, carrots , broccoli and lots of gravy plus yorkshire pudding?
Sorry Paul :-)
Greetings from Czech Rep.
+Tony E I did indeed, with all the excitement..lol.. Roast Duck Breasts, Royal Jersey new potatoes, broccoli, cauliflower, roast potatoes, marrow fat peas and gravy.. Thanks Tony.
+Oldřich Švábenský Not that far off...lol.
+PaulHFilms lovely! enjoy my friend. Me and the Mrs settled for a Marks and Spencer's roast lamb ready meal today. they're great if you want a lazy day! ;-)
I hope you managed to order one of these!

+Andrew Munro I have indeed, thank you Andrew.
imperial leather means HELLA DRY SKIN BAR
