    It sucks that, in VGC, worlds will be played in regulation D which allows all the Pokémon from Pokémon home into the format. Regieleki, being so insanely fast and strong, invalidates at least 85% of Pokémon just because it out speeds them even in tailwind or with a choice scarf, not to mention that regieleki has access to speed control in the form of electroweb which hits both targets and lowers their speed by one stage. Honestly? Eleki should have been Exhibit A in a case to ban _Tera Blast._
    You can run Eleki without Blast, but it still has that Achilles Heel you mentioned, and with Great Tusk being Lando T 2 in a lot of people's minds, that's more than manageable. But Tera Blast on it is the "get out of counters free" card that Dynamax quickly became and got banned for in Gen 8.
    And it's the same deal going on that has Volcarona on the radar right now-without Blast, Volc offense gets walled hard by a consistent category of Pokémon (has Flash Fire and resists Bug). With Blast, it suddenly has 3 separate ways to get around various answers, and all 3 of those ways have wildly different counterplay.
    It's time we faced the truth-while Tera on its own is a manageable mechanic, Blast is a get out of jail free card for sweepers who were specifically balanced around a move like it never existing. Practically every offensive Pokémon can get around its biggest issues with the right type of Blast-sans Blast, Tinkaton gets dumpstered by Corviknight, but if Tinkaton picks up Electric Blast it can suddenly whip that Corviknight's ass on a moment's notice while gaining advantage against every bulky water that might also have been used to answer Gigaton Hammer. Tera Blast as a concept might have been okay at 40 BP to make it an effective non stab HP when in use at the end of the day, but at base 80 power is way too strong and reliable for getting sweepers out of being answered/interrupted. It needs gone yesterday.

      Or you predict a switch, use revival blessing and get taken out by Tera Blast. It's just not a stable answer at all, and with a Life Orb it's in OHKO range.

    While I'm not sure it would be a great answer, there is one ground type pokemon that could do alright against Eleki if it ever comes to SV: Mamoswine. With Thick Fat and Ice Typing, it's a ground type that RESISTS ice and has great attack and bulk, so it could be enough for a niche. Sure Eleki could just switch to a different Tera Type, but that would greatly compromise it's coverage. Thick Fat makes Mamo neutral to Fire, Water would make it walled by water absorb clodsire and Storm Drain Gastrodon, Grass would be good against most grounds but not great for super effective coverage, Fighting would make it walled by Ghost/Ground types, and Steel is also not a great offensive type, especially with T-bolt.
    Eleki would very likely still get banned, but if Mamoswine was available at Home's release, it could've had a niche of checking Eleki.

    The only Pokémon that can out speed it is Sand Rush Excadrill.
    Even if Regieleki has a Timid nature, it'll have 548 speed, while an Adamant Excadrill would have 550 while Sand is up.
    Or you can sacrifice some power to have 604 speed with Jolly Excadrill.
    This isn't a perfect counter though, like being neutral to Ice unless it goes for Tera Steel, and by doing that, you're no longer immune to Volt Switch.

    • @mleem1771
      @mleem1771 Год назад

      Not the only one! Floatzel can do something similar- a max speed Regieleki, like you said, has 548 speed. Swift Swim Floatzel, even with an Adamant nature, reaches 658 speed in rain, and Liquidation is a guaranteed OHKO. It can't take a hit unfortunately, so can't switch in on any electric move- it can take a Tera Blast Ice, though (possible 3HKO), due to the type resistance and Floatzel's passable HP stat.
      If rain is down, it can at least get some solid damage off with Aqua Jet. Excadrill is probably a way better counter, since it's a lot bulkier (okay, I love Floatzel, but this thing cannot take hits at all) and immune to Electric, but Floatzel might theoretically be able to lure Regieleki in from less experienced users? I can't imagine most of those would be concerned about a water type when they've got the fastest mon in the game and supereffective STAB moves.
