Holiday until the here and now Paul
This was my life aged 14 in 99, absolutely was addicted to this game, I remember when you play it long enough there would be comments in the game near where you save it like "addictiveness " (youve been playing too long its time too change your boxers or something)
It is still there if you look at your "game status" in the FM bar left to date in game
Trabbbyyy Denino oh ok well haven’t played football manager in over a decade now so wasn’t aware
London Cars and Games hahaha that’s when u play over 99hours
championship manager 99/00?
completed it mate
This brought back so many memories! Esp the part where you take control of the opposition team and put their players on the wings 😂😂😂😂😂😂
I have no idea why this appeared in my recommended feed but I’m glad it did. This was also my first football management game. I have great memories of this game. I preferred it when it wasn’t so in depth. Aimar and Saviola were my go to’s
Oh the memories.... There was a sneaky cheat on this & the other earlier titles (00-01 & 01-02) where if you got your striker to man mark the opposition's GK he would 9 times out of 10 score a hat trick or more. He would also be offside about 100 times a match but it was worth it
Or you could just set up with ball and without ball and constantly have 10 players around the ball when defending and have 10 players right in front of the goal on attack instantly.
Haha I used to do this with a player called emile mpenza from schalke spelling might be wrong he was from Belgium
Wow this video brings back good memories! 😎
Where has the time gone! 🙄
01/02 was my favourite Champ man.. Cherno Samba the legend
Hey, do you know about the updated version of CM 01//02? There's a crew out there that have re - built the game with current leagues and player / manager databases.
Link below ( no spam nonsense, by the way).
champman0102.co.uk/downloads.php
@@MrMmnngghh Thanks for the link, but is there by any chance the opposite, where the players from 01/02 can be used in FM 19? That's what I'd really love to play someday. I know there's another database that someone's done with players from around then but it's not entirely realistic and only manageable in the top leagues.
@@MrBannystar oohh, I don't know about that scenario sir. The chaps at the CM 01/02 website would have a better idea than me about that.
@@MrMmnngghh Ok, no worries. Thanks anyway!
maxym tsigalko anyone?
Paul scholes passing - 15
Eh what....
It's so funny how you skipped Chris Sutton on 5:32
Made me laugh!
I would love to see a couple of seasons on CM tbh
He must just remember his season with Chelsea.
Γεια σου ρε Χαρέαα!
There's something amazing about the flashing commentary when a goal went in. I can remember managing my home team (Leicester City) on CM01/02 and taking them to UEFA cup glory 😁
Wow this brings back memories!! I used to play it for hours. You'd sit there tweaking the team and it would end up about 2 hours before you'd even played a match 😁
Kim kallstrom
Sharbel touma
Simon Davies
Gareth jelleyman
Matt etherington
And lord zlatan ibrahimovic
Kennedy bakirogiu (something like that)
All gods in that game
Jose Antonio Reyes is like 15 at Sevilla
Greatest footy manager game ever
Those players were all great. Was this the game where Robbie Keane, Javier Saviola and Joe Cole were absoloute monsters.
Yeah buddy robbie Keane I think was at wolves and was a beast and saviola was incredible to, hidden gem was sigporson Icelandic player became top forward in the game cost a couple thousand
@@gregjones7603 Haha A trip to my mid teens. There was also Pablo Aimar. It was also the fist CM where Tommy Svindal Larson wasn't a must buy iirc. I don't think I ever signed sigporson. How good was he?
Alexander fanderud (swedish)
Cherno samba (or was that next one)
Rudd van nij. (Think he's at ajax)
AdrianMihalcea, Florentin Petre, Mads Jorgensen, Jasper Hakasson, Javier Saviola, Pablo Aimar, JJ Riquelme:)
tó madeira was a fake player created by a portuguese SI collaborator.. it's a very famous story here in portugal
Javier Saviola
Pablo Aimar
Sharbel Touma
Kennedy Bakircioglu
Andri Sigporsson (fake player)
The players I would always sign!!
Andri Siqborsson isn't fake en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andri_Sigþórsson
Fantastic, im from Indonesia. When im 13, got new PC and I played this too. Over the bar bro...😥
I used to love these early games. It was all about finding undiscovered players, and tactics, and that was about it. They then changed it to make it all about interacting with the players and the media, and playing mind games with the other managers. It completely ruined it for me, having to do all that crap I had no interest in. And they made it much harder to find those foreign bargains.
I played games for a ridiculous number of seasons. I even steered Whitby Town to the premier league title, and Reading to the World Club championship, twice. The AI wasn't the best though. Other than Reading and Whitby, the giants of the English game after about 25 seasons were Wigan Athletic, while Manchester United were marooned in the Championship
RevStickleback I know what you mean. I like the additional features that try to replicate real managerial work, like press conferences and player interaction, but the simple tactics and player scouting features were just so fun.
@@DonsFan56 My problem with them was that they took over the game, and the interactions had far too much influence on results. You couldn't even leave them to your assistant, as if you did that, form would always nosedive as players lost respect for you. Then again, I lost so many hours of my life playing the game that it's probably for the best.
get you're assistant to do all the crap media stuff. i dis and never looked back.
@@kevrobbo77 Were you managing one of the bigger clubs? I tried that in the championship, and each time the team's form slumped alarmingly, as the players all became unhappy - maybe because the assistants aren't as good lower down.
How far could you go? I got about 20 seasons in and the game started crashing, loads of random errors and wouldn't load 😕
Was my first game. Parma. Sign Saviola.
Thanks RUclips for that random recommendation. I've played that version of CM religiously back then. SV Wehen-Wiesbaden ruled supreme over Europe.
I remember becoming the manager for rival teams, then release the best players from their contracts. After that I would snap them up for my main team for free.
What a sad git I was
01/02 was my first
GoldenFM please look for Amaral at Vasco Da Gana, and Jose Dos Santos at Corinthians.both these players I personally know well.
Speaking of rein-acting to the games, I used to print off 3 months worth of results, head over to the football pitch by myself and just do some runs and shoot at the goal. Used to love doing that.... Kinda sad really :D
David May was in the Blackburn league winning side of S.A.S. fame. He signed for Man U for a decent amount of money but had difficulty forcing his way into the side regularly.
David May left blackburn for manure before blackburn won the league.
Ah memories. Didn't enjoy this version as I was playing on a really dodgy PC that kept crashing the game so could never finish more than a season before giving up. Been playing since CM 2 97/98 Update and still rate CM 01/02 and FM 2005 as the best of the series.
have you visited the CM 97/98 website with the latest data updates? Link below (it's real by the way, no spam nonsense).

I loved this game. I had like £500 million at one point and just won everything. Tbh it did get quite easy after a while
This made me laugh so much, I remember making myself the manager of the opposition team and moved all their players to the wing for big games, and buying my worst players for 10mil
1) Tonton Zola Moukoko
2) Joe Cole
3) Kabba Samura
4) Kennedy Bakircioglu
5) Mikael Dorsin
Championship Manager 3 is my first CM experience and i love every edition of it even when it changed into Football Manager...
I am older than you, when I first got addicted to Championship Manager was on the Amiga 500, Man Utd had Cantona, Hughes etc, this video brought back memories though :
Same here. Great memories! It's amazing to think how popular this series has remained through the years. The current version is always amongst the most played games on Steam.
I did R&D on this game. Won the CL in 21 seasons. Happy times.
Old CM games were loads of fun. And yes please, if possible make a season out of this game! :)
It would be neat to see what this game would predict for the 2018/2019 season !
Such memories! Yes do a whole season. Was Tonton Zola Mokouko in this version? Cherno Samba, Pablo Aimar, Konstantinou…
Reminds me of good times. I'm surprised that even after 10,000 hours of CM99/00 that I would remember the interface a bit better.
Ah the memories. Cherno Samba, Mike Duff days. 😁
5:07 Michael Owen in his prime
Age: 19 😢
This was the first one I ever played and I've been hooked ever since, such an amazing game!
Also, you would love to go and look at West Ham, Lampard, Ferdinand, Carrick, Cole, Defoe, amazing squad.
If I am to make a series, it will probably be with West Ham 🙂
@@GoldenFM how the future could have been very different had they kept that squad together! #backtothefuture
@9.00 definitely accurate😂
I remember playing it till 2-3am during school breaks. There was also World Football Manager, FA Premier League Manager, Uefa Manager (which is still play occasionally :D),...
David May was the Phil Jones of that era. This game was my passion when i was a kid.
Get T.Nabil from Palace Youth. Best in the game.
Ah find Maxim tsigalko aged 17 had 20 on finishing..
Lol..
Mine was 97/98 you didn't need the disk once installed legendary game I love how old the graphics look.

@@MrMmnngghh I love you
@@tomrachellesfirstdance7843 no worries! The CM 97/98 love is universal, and reciprocated.
Was this the time if the Icelandic legend andri sigporsson he was a must buy
GoldenFM my 1st Manager game was Premier Manager.
My first game was football manager on the zx spectrum in the mid 80s. It was so basic but also revolutionary to a bit who had only been able to play subuteo.
I have played The champ manager FM series from its release .
Same
Premier manager and a full memory card for one save!
LMA manager and FM football manager were good too!
@@johnhamilton5431 The first release of LMA Manager for the original PlayStation was a tidy game.
Fuck me this is just nostalgic
Please play a season.... and get ton ton Zola moukoko derby county....
Football Manager 2009 was my first!
I'm still playing Championship Manager 2008. I try all the new FM games that come out yearly hoping there will finally be a better manager game for me to play, but they're never as good.
Hello... for Manchester all You need to do is buying a DC and DL, for me usually Cannavaro and Nesta (as he got all sides) and Davids for injuries in midfield... then just pick a GK better than your duo - Wright from Ipswich is OK and not overly expensive... play 4-1-2-1-2 or I think they call it 4-4-2 diamond...
Wright-Nesta,Canna, Stam, Gary N. - Keane - Giggs, Beckham (on wings) - Scholes - Yorke, Cole
Put together a backup 10 for the field players... (here I opt for 3-5-2 and play cups or CL when I did qualify for sure etc.)
Dillon (Rotherham), Bicham (Millwal), Archibald (Partick Thistle) - Davids, Howie (Partick Thistle), Boyle (Queen of South), Davies (Peterborough) - J.Cole - Bakircioglu (Hammaraby), Andri Sigtorsson (KR Reykjavik = MUST buy) :D
You probably need a full players db for the players from Scotland I believe (or pick SCO as background league)
Other good buys:
Young expensive stars: Saviola, Aimar, Cambiasso (will not get a WP), Riquelme (50:50 chance),
Cheap: Kallstrom, Etherington, Jellyman, Antonen, Mofid, Jorgensen (AGF), Muslimovic, Samura, Petre, Mihalcea, Brighi, Ibrahimovic
I was addicted to 00/01. Played with Juventus. Won 3 champions leagues in a row and ended up with a team of (3-5-2) Buffon, Thuram, Sol Campbell, Cannavaro, Figo, Nedved, Zidane, Vieira, Davids, Ronaldo and Ronaldinho. I was well proud of myself lol. Fun times.
PLEASE HELP!!!
I still have the CD but my new computer doesn't have anywhere to put the CD. So I guess I have to download the game without a CD. Please post "Step By Step: how to download and install CM 99/00 on my Windows 10" please!! BEST GAME EVER!
Recruit Stephane Chapuishat To Manchester United 👍👍👍👍👍
I kinda have the same feels as you. My father had FIFA 98 on PS, so I played a fair amount of that. When I got FIFA 04 on XBox, that was my main game to play, I never had FIFA 05, just jumped from 04 to 06 then didn't touch the football games until FIFA 10, even then, wasn't my thing. But came back with FIFA 19.
play modern foobtall! 4-2-3-1, false 9. Or some other kind of 3-5-2/4-3-3 with Flying wingbacks, a defensive central midfielder falling back to the defenders when u have the ball! How does the game react to it? Which players from that time can form the ultimate line-up for such play?
I started with 01/02, only because the first edition with the match engine (I think 02/03) wouldn't work on my crappy old PC so a mate gave me 01/02 instead. Changed my life forever, totally immersed. The new FMs are great (although stagnating a lot) but they don't have the same nostalgic feel, even though I've played every single one.
This was the one where Saviola was at peak God like level, Messi before Messi, 17 years old at River you could buy him for about 7.5m if I remember correctly, accept not in England.....fuck wp's! He was a guaranteed league title with any side in Spain or Italy though.
I used to love changing the names of the players to my friends names and manually add their stats!! I cant for the life of me remember how to do this now? Anyone remember?
2:12 is incorrect, Paul Scholes had 17 full England caps (8 goals) at the start of season 1999-2000. On 27/03/99 he scored a hat trick against Poland, so not sure why CM would state 3 caps/ 1 goal?
Will you take a look at the west ham squad from 99/00? Coyi
mate, that scholes apps was of course right... he was NOBODY in international level until 2003/4/5 . you should remember what great names in central midfield were before him in that years,,,
Yes u should do a series, my first championship manager was 97/98 then championship manager 00/01.
Best fucking game ever. I was 14 when it came out and 00 01 was the best one as I'm a Galatasaray supporter and they were good then we one the UEFA cup and made 14 final of CL. Now we are SHIT!!!
If you're going to do a full season, install the patch to update the version from 3.70. Otherwise you'll routinely find opposition goalkeepers get 9 or 10 /10. Should be able to find it on the net somewhere. Thanks for the video.
Javier Saviola- River Plate
Tonton zola moukoko- Derby County
Mathew ethrington- West Ham
I know many ppls will find this weird but i like simple manager like this more than newest ones... more fun, not so complicated and it's faster..I have so much memories... in even later versions few names is still in my head.. Freddy Adu, Alessio Cerci, Valeri Bojinov, Igor Akinfeev .. etc etc.. that was times.
97/98 was my first!

I used to be Celtic and bought Rooney and some Brazilian players from Sao Paolo i think. Smashed Rangers, Hearts, won the Champions League lol
robbie keane , john carew wonder kids
Please do a series with Man Utd on Championship Manager 99/00! This was awesome to reflect on. Would really enjoy you playing several years into the future.
This is probably the first game I played until the sun gone up again! And this was at a time where I was playing the shit out of Diablo 2 and Jagged Alliance 2!
The player that went to be the best ever in my game was Julius Aghahowa, Nigerian player, every major club wanted to buy him!
Has anyone else here ever played any of those Scandinavian league "expansion packs" from Championship Manager 2? So difficult with the foreign player restrictions and next to no knowledge of the players in the database.
I played this game for 24 game years. No actual player was in the game anymore. The game however invented some names and I continued playing with them. I choose Lazio and turned them into a continuosly champions league winner, national championship and domestic cup winners. What a game...
The injuries, OH THE INJURIES!
edit: Still play CM 2008. Hated the new ones.
Saviola Alan Smith cavanagi lucio
and all that time I was playing NBA live and Fifa. I missed the chance to play CM, to this day I wonder why I never bought them games.
I won the European cup with queen's park from Scotland..took a good 15-16 seasons but still.
Look how quickly it loads and how responsive each click is. Simplify the game and bring this back.
Maxim Tsigalko and Sergey Nikiforenko, anyone remember?
Who’s David May?????? He won the champions league my friend!
2:00 "that must be an error"
No. Our best midfielder since Bobby Charlton and he played on the fucking left wing
Do a series and buy Ronaldinho
I still have a copy of CM 2000/01. I don't dare to install it, as I know it will only bring tears to my eyes...
You should manage Blackburn in the old first division. They get £32 million to spend at the start of the first season!
god that brought back some memories. I remember playing as the other team and putting the goalkeeper in defence so I would win haha By the way I think Scholes would have had about 20 caps by the time this was released. Great video thank you
I’ll never forget the cheat you could do on this game to sign any player for free lol. You would offer the highest amount of money to any player, once the offer was accepted you’d click onto the player withdraw your offer, make a new offer of £0 and then you go back and can still offer a contract to sign him for £0 lol
Wow do I miss this game. The game play and layout has never been this good. Ultimate in game experience should never have changed it. Miss this so much such good memories.
the LMA manager games on Playstation were the ones for me!
I remember using the editor to set all skills on 20, lowering ages and winning with Club Brugge KV the Belgian league 15 years in a row and almost every year the EC 1. But i had to block outgoing transfers , to keep winning. But when the players reached end of their 30's fun was over , club dropped hard.
Anyone play Ultimate Soccer manager 98? I love that game, the music is still stuck in my head to this day.
You should have seen my parma team with pablo aimar and javier saviola signed on the cheap, wonderful bit of business.
My favorite CM is 98/99 season, but the original one without patches. I remember Robbie Keane at Wolves being ridiculously good and Tonton Zola Moukoko at Derby County. 343 formation was literally unbeatable, especially if you was in charge of Inter with Zamorano Ronaldo and Ventola up front.
Paul are you single? If so, message me please. Thanks bro x
My first and only was 2001/2002
What is a good manager game today? I need to get my champ man on! Nohomo
Best championship manager game was with George Weah Baggio Maradona. Kaka wonderkid.
If thise scholes caps were correct it'd mean he scored a hat trick in every game
Its written aghahowa, taribo west with monstrous data is for free, and have a look at best data there gaizka mandieta..
Ahhh so nostalgic..
Can I get this still?
MacBook Pro?
