Absolutely Exceptional as I knew it would be Chris. Congrats mate. Here before this video got to 1000 view (just), and looking forward to watching this blow up!
This was awesome :) I've been playing since CM2 days .. So much nostalgia in there. FM2013 I played an offensive amount of as I kept going back to it over the next years, so I racked up 4-5000 hours on that. Thanks for putting this together and making me load up a new game at 3am ....
Not a problem at all, glad you enjoyed it and thank you for watching it! While I got into it more recently than most, a ton of the research meant hunting down the old CM games and booting them up to see it for myself/grab screenshots/etc and it's astounding to see the evolution of the series as a whole.
To be fair, the game has been around for almost as long as I've been alive, so for what it's worth...I had to grasp my own mortality too while making it. Thank you for the kind words, it means a ton coming from one of the OG's in the scene!
Dude, if you’re noticing an uptick and views on this video, part of it is me. I’ve watched this video multiple times and I just keep coming back to it. I fucking love this game. Nothing else comes close. Between the quality of the gameplay, The community of great people, the dank memes, and the fact that it’s helped clubs in real life, there’s nothing else like it. You remember that scene in Harry Potter at the Quidditch World Cup where he just looks at everything around him and says “I love magic.”? I love Football Manager.
Having played most of these versions of the game, this was a proper walk down memory lane. You can get Kevin Toms' version of Football Manager as a mobile game. It's funny how stickmen bleeping across a 48k screen inspired the game we play today. Great video!
I do remember seeing an article that Kevin Toms had or was bringing back his version of the game for mobile, so it's interesting to see that it happened!
Well done video man. Jack Stainrod became a free agent (Scottish) in FM 2023, & I got him to join me in Northern Ireland. We did so well I got a job offer from Falkirk, & got him to transfer with me. Falkirk is where his famous father played IRL, I found out later. It weirded me out enough I ended the save at the end of that season 😂
Great video! Brings back alot of great childhood memories. first ever championship manager I played was 93. Still remember my first ever signing Dean Saunders from Aston villa to Man utd.
I remember the very first championship manager that a friend at school had and it blew my mind. I had to buy the next game championship manager 93 and I’ve been playing it ever since.
It's definitely had its upgrades over the decade but it feels like SI's factored in more getting the animations and such over the graphics themselves. So it makes me interested to see how much different things will look once the Unity engine is in place next year.
Thank you! Yes, I do have something already in the works for the FM24 cycle for save, have been already playing through it in game and should have the first year of it ready to go in another 2 weeks or so.
I played Football Manager 2008 until the computer it was installed on finally croaked in 2015. 85 seasons at the top. When they name the stadium after you, you're doing alright.
For me that and 2009 were the best versions. After that they tried to make them way to realistic. They've missed a trick not adding a owner mode, where you buy a club and run it. I'd probably buy it again.

Been playing since 93 on the Amiga. My buddy and me used to have sleepovers over the weekend to binge seasons, it took like an hour and half to load in the next season! It was when I played CM 93 on my dads work Thinkpad that I knew the Amiga's days were numbered; new season loaded in 5 seconds flat!
From the early reviews I could find, it seemed all the bad ones were from folks playing it on the Amiga rather than on anything else - this just seems to prove that the machine just couldn't handle anything with as much data. Thank you for watching!
@@BrasilianFuryYip makes sense. We tolerated it because we loved the game so much, but even the teletext results screen that scrolled by after every match took a good few minutes.

@@BrasilianFuryFor my money, it's the best edition of FM- I was easily playing 10+ hours a day of it. Been playing (on and off) since CM 97/98 on ms-dos back in the day. Good video. Would like to know more about the eidos/SI split if that's something you'd be interested in covering.
The details on the Eidos/SI split are still very mum between all parties involved but it just came down to Eidos wanting to do their own thing with the IP and a whole new studio while SI wanted to keep their code/resources/independence. At the end, SEGA's been definitely a much better partner.
I did not expect to hear my country in this video lol. But the Phil and James Younghusband story was indeed true and they even encouraged Neil Etheridge (former PL keeper for Fulham and Cardiff), their former teammate in the Chelsea Academy, to join the team. wdym you guess? you spent likely a week working on this LOL. good video though
It's a nod to Bill Wurtz's videos that made this style take off. Thank you though!
It’s so crazy how much history this game has I only found out about fm a year or two ago 😂
I only got into it myself during the FM21 cycle, so I get it.
Its kind of inspiring to see how football manager add feature after feature while all other sports game developers tend to take features after feature from game. Great for them
One of the few games over the last few years since getting into it where I felt there was enough new stuff with each yearly edition to pay them for the new version. EA and 2K could learn a couple of things here.
This is worse than crack. I tried CM02, and I'm still addicted to it today.
...Thank you, I guess? lol
FM12 was the GOAT. FM24 is almost as great.
Blur are phenominal... That was a win-win right there. I knew the guys behind FM must have taste.
New subscriber. Awesome video. I played CM since the 1990s...and still going strong in FM 2024.😂❤🎉
I adopted it in FM21 admittedly but got to hunt down and play a bit of the older CM games while researching/prepping for this one and the evolution of it all still floors me. Excited to be here with everyone else now 😂😂😂
Brilliant video, really enjoyed the history. 👏 Started playing it from champ man 2 still playing now
this video inspired me to code even harder
Play it since 98/99. It destroyed any chance of a social life.
I feel like this is a familiar story for most of us who've played any edition of these games lol
