Good fun for who? I’m with you on the Karen, and the V-cut, but other than that, based on most of the pictures you showed, you ruled out most haircuts, and barely added any nuance to what makes a cut look modern. You’re barely giving your clients anything to choose from. Those first photos that you showed were, in essence, mid-length variations of a wolf cut. Also, there isn’t a single hairdresser on Earth who would look at any haircut with shaved sides, and think “that person has a boring haircut” besides you. Frankly, as a hair cutter myself, with seven years experience I might add, I fear you’ll turn your ire onto pageboys, bowl cuts, undercuts, mullets, and hime cuts. Part of our job as hairdressers is to look beyond trends in order to create looks. Sometimes that means taking bits and pieces of trends, and combining them with what we think is dated, in order to create something that’s modern, yet individual to our clients. For example, combining an A-line bob, with a bottleneck fringe, or combining it with a wolf cut, or with a hime cut. Another example would be combining a graduated bob, with short, choppy bangs that fall above the brow. It’s the whole reason we’re expected to master fundamental haircuts, even though they look dated to some of us. It’s important as stylists for us to understand how to replicate trends, as well as how incorporate them into what we think is dated, so that we have a wide range of contemporary looks in our repertoire. Frankly, it’s quite clear that you have a long way to go before you’re able to grasp this concept, just based on the fact that you posted this video.
Who cares what’s in trend and what’s not seriously we should do what we like. Just got my first Bob on Saturday and I absolutely love it, it’s long in the front not to my shoulders or anything just longer and I have like three layers in the back, my hairs super Thin and just had a baby so my hairs falling out this was the perfect cut for me ❤
Agreed. I've always been out of trend if you will. Lol doing whatever makes me happy and feel great. Cut 8"off two months ago and got an angled bob. I love it! Cheers!
@@willowmoon5063 I cut about the same length off as well and love it 🥰 always been behind on trends too lol just don’t care to follow them. Most are so ridiculous now a days lol
You have a point with all these. Trouble is many women are restricted by fine hair, thinning hair, a round face, age etc. It's less a case of what you want and more a case of what's possible for you
I’ve kept a “Karen bob” for roughly 5 years. It suits my face, easy to style, can be classy or messy and absolutely beyond any haircut I’ve ever had including a blunt one length bob, gets the most compliments. Even if it’s outdated, I’ll still wear it and let everyone else keep up with the trends like those god awful bushy eyebrows and high waisted mom jeans.
things is trends aren't taste. they shouldn't dictate what people wear or want as haircuts. going to the hairdresser and asking for something that fits your faceshape should be more common.
1. A good hairdresser will help you get what's on trend and not what's out of style. 2. This video is for fun, you're free to get any haircut you like!
@@loona-tic9791I agree. Trends come and go. What might look great on someone might look a little too “try hard” on someone else. a good hairstylist can tell you what’s currently in vogue, but they’ll never make you look like shit or feel bad about yourself just because a cut is “trendy”
3:33 girl I got a A line bob today and it’s freaking cute! It hides my acne around my cheeks and it’s so much fun for me. I love it and the girl who did it did a gr8 job. I hope it makes a comeback.
I came here from another of your videos, I found "accidentally" and although I'm not a hair person ( I have an extremely short pixy ) started binge watching your videos lol. I wish I had you as a stylist in my younger years, when everyone I ever went to chopped up my curly, wild mop, making me give up on my hair and eventually just cutting it all off.
So...because the hair stylist didn't show you how to style your layered bob, no one else should get it??? Also, the bob haircut in general has always been and will always be in style. LOL - every single cut you listed here with the exception of the pixie is a variation of the bob. Let people wear their hair however they want to.
Whenever I go to the hairdressers, I never get what I’ve asked for. I end up coming away with whatever style the girl feels confident doing. It’s like they only know how to do one cut, so that’s what you gave to have. It makes me so cross.
Hey, I have hair texture similar to you and I love the french bob cut. I watched the video but at the end when you were styling it I couldn't tell exactly what tools you used. I saw the round bristle and was it also a boar tòo? What size is the barrel of the brush as well? I love your videos, your personality is awesome!! I like using big sexy powder play because my hair is thin flat and boring...lol. I hope you see this so I will know what size the barrel was on the brush. Thank you. Mary

I just wish I had watched this first before going to a hairdresser and just telling them I wanted it shorter. It not only became shorter, but apparently I was picturing a French bob and somehow I got a beveled bob. I hate it. Now its so short I have to just wait for it to grow out.
I’m confused about why the layered bob isn’t good. Isn’t a cub cut sort of a layered bob that’s very much in style? Or a shoulder length shag is sort of a layered bob if the bottom isn’t too choppy, isn’t it?
@@sklptdhair , but a shag is a type of layered bob, right? It’s just with shaggy layers. I definitely don’t like the type of Bob that’s longer in front than in back. I like angles away from the face. When I was a kid, I think a bob was a once length cut above the shoulders. Now there are so many types. I still really only consider the one length cut to be a Bob because that’s how it used to be, but maybe I’m wrong and just misunderstood it when I was a kid. :) Anyway, thanks for the enjoyable videos !
Not everyone can wear a blunt bob or a French bob. It looks awful on a square face. Sometimes, we need to stick to a style that flatters the shape of your face.
What is in style and what is not, should not be the factor in how you have your hair cut. Over the years I saw the reverse mullet aka a-line haircuts and thought they were ugly, as well as the mullets, shags, and other fashion trends. Being in style, did not make them attractive at all. I totally agree with you that the V cut looks like a scraggly rat tail, and any haircut that involves putting all your hair in a ponytail and sawing through it looks like an animal chewed on your head.
Hi! I have alot of weight on the bottom and I dont know what to ask for in order to thin out but also not end up with a dated shag... Any advice? Thank you so much!
Ask for wispy ends, specifically for the hair to be slide cut not thinned out with thinning shears. You need a cutting specialist who understands the difference.
