    This sprint was a great advertisement for reverse-grid order. The jumbled up quali order resulted in a really interesting and enjoyable sprint race.

      I have never understood the reversed grid proposition. It punishes those who are doing well, for doing well. You then use the result of that, for the actual Grand Prix?
      The necessity to punish better teams and drivers, is senseless to me personally. Seems a bit like pity points.
      I would rather teams have FP2 and FP3 than have sprint format for “entertainment” purposes. Though I suppose many watch for drama and entertainment alone.

    • @Yes-vh7lm
      @Yes-vh7lm 29 дней назад

      @@andresmartinezramos7513 Ehh, I feel like that punishes drivers who qualify well in the sprint a bit too harshly. Would seem quite unfair in a genuine championship battle. But if fewer points are given out for the sprint, and the finishing order in the sprint dictates the starting order in the race, then it actually makes sense.

    The reason the Stewart’s invalidated the time was because the last iteration of china did not have gravel at the last turn, so it could actually provide an unfair advantage. So going by the last time they were at china it would be correct to invalidate it, but because gravel was added they had to change the rules.

    Easily the best quali session since at least 2021, and quite a solid sprint race. Agree with everything you said regarding the Lando start as well- I think Andrea pointed out that these moves happen exactly because of that car deficit, I think Lando might've thought 'ok, I have have an opportunity if Lewis and Fernando can defend for a couple of laps here'. Ultimately if he wasn't ahead by turn 1, it's not happening at all, and even then it's probably not with Max in 4th just behind. But with that McLaren straight line speed (or rather lack there of) I don't think overtaking Merc by following is that easy for them, he certainly would lose a lot of time. Personally I'd say Sprint shootout 10/10 (crazy session) and Sprint race 8.5/10 (lots of great scraps but a few quiet laps and ultimately the Max win felt and was inevitable)

    One issue with taking the fastest lap from the same session that both teammates completed for your qualifying head-to-head is when the two teammates do a different number of runs. For example Alonso often only does one run in Q1/Q2 (including today), so his gap over Stroll who does do a second run isn't as big as it would be if Fernando also did a second run.

      Leclerc controlled the weekend in just his 2nd race for Ferrari (his 23rd race overall) an was going to win before on of his cylinders failed.
      Max won his first race for RB (his 24th race overall) and controlled the race once the dominant mercs rammed each other off.
      Piastri has only showed genuine pace like that on one weekend, quatar 2023, but that comes with a asterix because the tyre wear was so high, it neutralised his big weakness.
      Piastri has the raw pace, he just needs to refine it, and so far he hasnt been able to do that. IMO, he really needs to get on top of it by the summer break

    With regards to Tsunoda and Ricciardo, Yuki is definitely having a bad weekend. Whether it's something wrong with the chassis, or set-up, or Yuki spent too much time having fun in Japan, or this being his first time racing in China, I dunno. It's just a bad weekend for him. But that does not mean it's a good weekend for Daniel. Daniel has previously qualified 14th, 14th, 18th and 11th. This weekend he qualified 14th and 12th. He hasn't improved. He's at the same level. Yuki's horror show is really skewing perspective around Daniel's performance. Daniel is still underperforming. Previously this season, when Lance or Hamilton or Bearman have failed to make Q3, Yuki has made it through. Daniel had four opportunities to get into Q3 this weekend (there were four Top 5 cars out of Q1/Q2 over two quali sessions) and he ultimately failed to capitalise on that opportunity. The change of chassis hasn't made any difference to Ricciardo's form. Again, that doesn't excuse Yuki's poor performance. To use the Tommo channel lingo, he's had an absolute clanger. But that doesn't mean Ricciardo is having a banger.
