Hamilton would not have left Mercedes if he felt the team could get off its knees. Having all the internal information, he sees only a hopeless crisis. Why should Max, especially without all this information, think differently?

Why would he leave? Going from a winning team to a worse team never makes sense even with the controversy. Especially if its a team that is that much better than any other team. Lewis also left a team that wasnt the best overall.
Max also said that he doesnt want to drive forever so why would he leave if he doesnt plan to drive that long anymore.

The 2026 regulations will unfreeze the ICE development, it is very likely Mercedes will be competitive in that era, Wache and Newey might be doing wonders right now but they are aero guys, i dont think they will be able to develop that new Redbull Pwrt plant with the car, thats something that the Berkley crew can definitely do.
If Adrian were to leave I can see it being a reality.
Remember Red Bull is building their own engines after -26. There’s far from any guarantee that it will be better than even Renault.
Max needs to do what Lewis did after a few years, and force his father to step back and let him live his own life.

Last year there were rumors that there was beef between and Horner and Jos. Horner had forced Jos to stay at home for some races because he was getting too involved in the Team. And the kind of character he is, it isn't beneath him to launch a play to oust Horner.
No MARKO has made sure that in Max’ contract it states that Jos is only allowed at 50% of the races as normal guest. Marko spoke abt that on a Yt interview while back.

No driver would ever leave a team winning every race in a season for a team that hasn't won in 3 years. It will never happen.
Mercedes last win is about 26 races ago
Horner is 1 of 2 long standing team principles (spelling) that are still going, and have done well for their team. getting rid of him would and them pushing their side (austrian faction) more may result in a alpine situation. revolving door of staff and going backwards.
I agree with everything said in this video actually. Of course it's unlikely, but I think it's more possible than some people may think.
Another side to it: Max always says that he's not too bothered about breaking records and that he'll stay in F1 as long as he enjoys it - and tbh I believe him.
He seems to be loving his time at Red Bull now, but if he gets bored of the team I don't think it's out of the question for him to jump ship to a currently slower team that has clear potential to be better in the new regs (and has shown prescedence for doing so in the past).
Also, I think of Max as a driver who wants to do just that - drive (polar opposite to Lewis who I also like). While it's impossible to completely avoid team politics in F1, if it gets too crazy with the Horner situation, Max could join Merc purely to get away from all the drama and focus on his driving.

Only reason I can think of is that the Redbull Ford Engine 2026 is well behind on development and Merc have a strong 2026 engine ?
Mercedes is apparently on pole with dev of the engine, to a point that many thinks it would be a 2014, the return, so having Max joining would be a similar move and parralel to lewis 2013(tbh am neutral to an arrival of max).
Verstappen has a contract until 2028. Sure they could break it but it would probably cost a ton of money to do so

It’s easy to look at Hamilton’s move to Merc and think it could easily happen again with Max, but if you look historically, there has been way more bad moves like this than good ones.
From the top off my head i can think of Ricciardo to Mclaren or some of Alonso’s moves over the years. But, everyone starts fresh in 2026, could be very interesting if the move happens.
I wonder if we're going to see a repeat of Lewis and Anthony falling out with Max/Jos. Max is mature and experienced enough to call the shots.

Nah man, Antonelli is such a big prospect Merc would be crazy to let him go. I think that if this were to happen, this would be the end for Russel in the near future. They'd probably send Antonelli to Williams to gain some experience like they did with Russel. And when he's grown enough to their liking, Russel is yeeted out and Kimi joins Merc next to Max. That is, if Max still wants to race then. Altho, Max did say that it'd be hard to justify leaving F1 if he was in a dominant car.

This year have started wildly. Lewis to Ferrari. Red Bull is in full chaos with multiple things going on. Max to Mercedes (sceptical) and then Alpine with people leaving left and right. Silly season have not even began fully.

If Toto is at all vindictive, he would love to put Max in that seat to spurn Lewis. Imagine the scenes if Max is able to outscore Lewis/Ferrari (or even win the WDC) at Merc. That would be the most interesting season I could think of and great for the sport. Much better than this stinker of a season this will be.

If, and it's a huge if, Verstappen were to leave, I would push to get Sainz to replace Pérez, and try to get Alonso in Verstappen's car. Then, depending on his early F2 performances, try to poach Antonelli from Mercedes as a longer-term prospect and stick him in for 2025 at RB.

This would be insane, although I don't understand why everyone keeps saying that Max would enjoy a challenge. Max enjoys winning. He struggled long enough in RB during Mercedes' dominance years, I don't see him wanting to go back to that.

Currently in the grid, mercedes vs redbull vs Renault vs ferrari, who has the best engine? In the new regulations, is the engine rules too different from the current rules that it may make it difficult for some works team to catch up? I would imagine by now most works team engines will be much closer to each other.

Newey has known Horner for many years, so I would expect he is more loyal to Horner than Verstappen.

Could be a good move if he is not confident in the ford engine project. We know mercedes has a good record and can build a solid engine. I would imagine no one will get close to Red Bull in this era but 2026 its very likely merc will be strong again.

I think the move makes sense IF coupled with the rumours of Fords unhappiness. If Ford was to leave just a year into their relationship, it could have MASSIVE repercussions for their engine development for 2026

If I’m Redbull and the 2% that max leaves for Mercedes I would not resign Perez and would get rid off Ricardo and yuki from vcarb then would promote Lawson and sign kimi Antonelli on a 2+2 year contract to vcarb
While at Redbull would sign Sainz to a 3+1 year deal and Alonso to a 1+1
In that time you could give Antonelli his first year to be a rookie and make mistakes and second year to improve
While in that time Fernando Would most likely win his 3 championship in 2025 with that car and give him 1 year in the new regulation to see if he wants to continue racing
and you would have Sainz maybe challenge Fernando and being the leader after he leaves and before kimi development

If Max bounces I hope its Carlos or MAYBE Fernando, but realistically, I think its Lando. Hes mentioned in the past if the opportunity came up he still wouldn't jpin RB because of Max but if Max leaves well then that changes things.
Not the same scenario, but Vettel visited Maranello and signed a pre-contract with Luca di Montezemolo days after winning in Brazil in 2012.
If Verstappen were to leave Red Bull for a full works team in anticipation of 2026, it would make total sense. Remember how much Red Bull was plagued by Renault from 2014 to 2018 with the best aero and chassis (by their wins in non-power sensitive tracks)
Fully prepared to eat my words but I just can't see that happen. RBR is lined up to have a dominant car for 2024 and 2025. As it stands right now, I don't see any reason for the risk of RBR bottling the PU in 2026 to be bigger than of Mercedes to fail their aero-package again. As you mentioned yourself: RBR has Adrian Newey who seems to be the Max Verstappen of engineers right now and I believe that counts for a lot.
Also I just can't imagine that Max doesn't have a hefty performance clause in his contract by now that allows him to leave early if RBR doesn't deliver.
All in all I don't really believe there is a results-related argument for Max to switch teams and I also don't think his personal brand will be affected too much by the Horner-affair as long as he keeps his mouth shut.

It's pretty clear that the most recent regulation change was deliberately designed to, at the very least, heavily benefit Red Bull. It's arghable if it was also to hinder Mercedes. But, it's well known that ground-effect aerodynamics was one of Adrian Newey's specialities and that Red Bull aero was some of, if not the best on the grid.
I wonder if the 2026 regs will end up favoring a specific teams strengths in the same way.
Might actually be a good move since we have an engine reg change in 2026.

As good as max is I have some reservations as if Max could do better in the W15/W16.
However i think that it would be a top choice if he did move to AMG in 2026 as the potential for Hamilton/Schumacher esque domination might be a considerable thing should they get the engine requirements bang on.
I feel it's happening. Like is there actually any way it's not? Jos clearly don't want Horner in Red Bull. Newey stated long time ago, that he won't be there if Horner isn't. So they would lose Adrian pushing Horner out. Maybe even Max has a clause that if Horner leaves he can leave right away. To me it seems Jos wants to get out of RB to Merc and this is how he's creating way out by force.

the reality is it’s a personal vendetta by Jos…. He wants Horner fired. He is behind i all, the complaint to RB, the leaks to Telegraaf AND the emails with the messages to all press and FIA and F1? And why does Jos hate Horner so much? Cos Jos is dating Horners former PA… and Horner advised her to not start relationships with Jos…. Jos and that Fiona woman together made the complaint to RB, then Jos kept leaking info to Telegraaf, even orchestrated the emails to all press and FIA, F1 during FP2. Its all JOS. Only aim is to damage Horner and get him fired. He doesn’t care that it’s damaging Max’ season, team, RBR, RB, sponsors, even Fiona is dragged through the mud with it… it’s all Jos. And still Jos is talking to press to damage Horner and force RB to fire him. Jos even went to Toto to ask if there’s a seat available so he can have leverage to force RB to fire Horner “or else Max leaves to Merc”…. And all this WITHOUT MAX’ APPROVAL. Jos must be blocked by Max, RBR and RB before he does even more damage. The whole paddock knows this.

There's a mexican F1 youtuber who said this and people were going nuts calling him names. He's very good at analyzing the business side behind the sport and he's really good. To the point that in 2019 he was already predicting that Perez was going to RB, while every media outlet was considering him out of the sport.
