Brilliant comment.
😂😂😂
@@TommoOnRUclipsAdrian might leave red bull and skysports is covering it
The fact that you made Lance’s face so big in bangers and clangers is absolutely hilarious 😂😂😂
He keeps having clangers. Every subsequent one will result in a 50% increase to his face size.
@@TommoOnRUclips ahhh mate, I don’t think 50% increase is enough. As an Aussie I was absolutely fuming haha
Interesting point of view in regards to them swapping chassis
We have to be realistic. We won't make it to summer before we run out of screen real estate.
Last time my family was in SA, we did ostrich riding. The birds were honestly faster than whatever Alpine cooked up this year lol.
Underrated comment 😂😂
Ostrich riding is no longer something to do here in SA because it has been deemed unethical.
@@RossMoorsTours This was way back in 2008. Ironically enough, Alpine’s management is arguably still more inexcusable.
Bring feathers to F1
@@TommoOnRUclips Here, here
You should definitely make a whole video about your time in South Africa. What a great pick for a holiday!
Daniel looked more punchy this weekend with the new chassis. Was consistently 3-5 tenths faster than Yuki all weekend. Such a shame he got punted by Stroll it looked like he was on for 9th or 10th. I have a good feeling next race in Miami he's going to come out guns blazing with some new found confidence in the car.
I have a theory… do you think it’s possible RB have simply swapped Yuki and Danny’s chassis?
@@MaddogMD82 well that would show off if it was the chassis fault but they have said it's a new chassis. Look ricciardos won on this track yuki hasn't ever raced it. So the track suits ricciardo fingers crossed his at least the same pase to his team mate the remaining of the season
Even me as Yuki Supporter cheered for RIC to score. Unfortunately data shows he RB was the slowest car this weekend over all. No pace. And ofc the team did not pit Danny on SC for Hards making it VERY unlikely he would have scored...
This needs to be the start of something continuous now. He hasn't got much time to turn the ship around.
It was a good weekend, particularly a good race for Ricciardo. In that small run up until the SC he was clocking some good laps as making quick moves
If he can keep that up he won’t be in danger at all
Zhou's front wing endplate flew off on the penultimate lap of the race
Oh fairs, I missed that!
A part of me was kind of happy that Lando did not concede because I feel like some people give him this reputation that he always concedes which is not true but then as we see in this race he is criticized for not conceding as well. But then the mclaren fan of me is like he should've just conceded. I mean all I'm saying is people should honestly stop criticizing already he has shown he can lead a race, it just has to be right time, right place at this point because not even the other world champions have been able to get a win in this red bull era. If anyone messes up in the sprint idc at this point as long as it does not carry on to the race. I mean no one is criticizing alonso for not giving up his place to carlos after he had already lost it in the sprint and therefore ended up DNF. I mean if you're going to risk it all at this point might as well be in the sprint. At the end ,considering Lando ended up P6 in the sprint he only sacrificed around 3 or 4 points because that win was not going to happen there , max dunked 13 secs on everybody in like 10 laps unfortunately.
Norris will never get the credit he deserves, because he drives a McLaren in the Red Bull domination era
South Africa vids have been quality
25:27 the Chassis Swap is BS. Yuki had issues with the pace and he admitted it. RacingB had bad pace overall.
not true.. if ricciardo have pace, it means RB does have pace. the problem with yuki is either his car's broken or he could not find the right setup
@@ConstantinGao thats what I said. RB in general had bad pace though. Remember pls RIC got only to p14. Thats not good.
Ricciardo got a brand new chasis, yuki kept his chasis that he started with because he had no issue with it. Idk why Ted said yuki had ricciardo's old one when that's not true.
Is that a Tame Impala? And what bamboos?
People keep saying Checo has taken a step forward but at the beginning of last season he was winning races, we still have to see if he can finally be consistent or not
19:05 To be fair, if Mercedes had two George Russell's, they'd still be ahead of Aston Martin. One frustratingly lucky thing for Aston Martin is that having Stroll in the team means they won't place lower in the championship than they should, giving them more reason to keep him unfortunately.
Ye, I don't understand how that face gets completely ignored. I dont think lance had a good year especially last 2 races but lewis was literally 1 point ahead of him before the sprint, and the comments that Lance got while lewis gets treated like the wounder kid that will deliver in a ferrari is ridiculous. Even this weekend he qualified p18, how can people really ignore him being over 10 places behind his teammate not even lance was that bad. Gets lucky with a lot of dnfs and 10 sec penalties and then you hear "good recovery" wtf
@@ehrlichgesagt863 Completely agree. And it isn't like Russell himself has been maximising points. I'm not saying Stroll is doing an adequate job, don't get me wrong. But it won't end up costing Aston Martin this season at least, considering Mercedes should be ahead, giving Aston Martin justification to keep Lance.
Stroll will cost Aston Martin 4th place to Mercedes. 2 cars vs 1 is a tough battle
Banger driver is definitely OCON. What a drive!!
Hey Tommo! I’m not sure about other people, but I don’t think making a race review based on highlights is very fair or useful. I would rather prefer you push the video a couple of days “late” if it meant you were able to watch the race. The fact is that the highlights will never tell the full story from a race, and I’m not only talking about it from an entertainment factor, but rather, and informative one. Because ultimately there will be details that you will be unaware of, as opposed to us viewers.
Just wanted to share my thoughts! Love the content!
I'm confused: Is your Race grade just the race or the entire weekend? Sometimes you include things that aren't part of the race and sometimes not. I would say 5/10 makes sense for the race. Maybe you could justify a 6, because there really was some good racing at the back of the pack. But, if you include the whole weekend, I think China was a 9/10. The Sprint and Sprint Qualifying were exciting, even the Practice was exciting with the grass catching on fire and knowing that the session was so important to the weekend...We had the rain as well. I really enjoyed this weekend, even if the race wasn't a 10/10 itself.
I think 9/10 for the whole weekend is way too high. Sprint was definitely better but it was a 7/10 weekend at best

special mention to the home crowd, arguably the most crowded (and ironically the most percentage of the audience that actually knows F1 instead of just be there because someone gave them the ticket as a gift) Chinese fans you saw in 20 years of Shanghai GP, and I am bloody happy I was a part of the crowd which cheered for our fellow countrymen Zhou. He is the pioneer of Chinese Motorsport, and each every step he make is the pyramid, the Mount Everest, the peak for us, so I’m not sure if you Tommo or all of the audiences which are from those countries which provides F1 drivers regularly can walk into me and us Chinese F1 fan’s shoes, but this genuinely genuinely means a loooot to us, and rumors saying Geely( go google this company) has the interest on sponsoring Zhou and give him a seat at the Enstone team. We shall see. P.S. Go check some of the fresh memes of Shanghai GP, must be fresh air for all of u lot F1 fans hahaha
imma take this opportunity to also congratulate nyck de vries on his victory in WEC.
Straight swap Zhou for Hulkenberg
Damn Tommo going harder on Lance than rocketpoweredmohawk, damn
Nepo baby stroll out here dragging the team down.
Tbf Yuki had a couple issues in the quali sessions, some weren't his fault but still he underperformed there. In the main race though he was there with Lewis for the whole race, if KMag didn't punt him I reckon he would have gotten 10th at least
Tbh, the only thing I'm not fully convinced about Lando, is that everytime he's under some sort of pressure, he either doesnt defend at all or makes some sort of mistake.
BUT, I Lando could somehow keep it cool just he did in 2023 at Silverstone he really could do aome great stuff
At this point, they should be called “modifications” rather than “upgrades”
Darn. No more Race Reviews based only on watching the freakin’ Race HIGHLIGHTS! Honestly…
Hey, at least I was honest and upfront about it. 😅
Yes, I think it's commendable you were upfront about it. However, I wholeheartedly agree with the comment you shouldn't do these reports based on highlights. People like me watch your content because you're able to provide more insight and/or information. When the viewer watches the whole race (and qualifying, and the sprint and sprint qualifying), it feels wrong to watch someone who hasn't and isn't in the position to provide the added value. I can understand you're afraid to lose viewers and/or negative algorithm consequences, but just enjoy your vacation and let it be for now. Or maybe you can ask a guest host to watch the race and then do the report together?
@@TommoOnRUclips Luv ya, Tommo!
After seeing the commercial prospects of Zhou, he's done enough on track to guarantee a seat at least for as long as the Chinese GP exists on the calendar. I saw in the Paddock that Zhou's family and manager were constantly seeing sponsors throughout the weekend and I'm sure a lot of money and attention is flowing into his seat. Even if Sauber doesn't want to keep him, the whole FIA and FOM will make sure he stays on the grid for next year. The potential of the additional 100 million viewers is too lucrative for F1 to ignore.
That will not happen
@@Robalexe I'm just describing what I saw at Paddock in Shanghai. Feel free to have your own opinion.
@@paidquartz His manager, sponsors and others was there cuz they know his days are numbered at Sauber and are scrambling to try to find any deal with another team, which don't seem to be working, as there have been zero rumors of Zhou being linked with any seat next year. FIA and FOM cannot guarantee any driver's seat on the grid. Literally impossible. A team must want to actually sign him, they can't be forced to, cuz that would inevitably be brought to light and the controversy would be massive afterwards with all the CCP payroll accusations and such.
@@Robalexe Sure. We'll see.
I too, suspect he will be here next season. Zhou is not the fastest but he is a pair of steady hands, rarely crashes and makes for a good second driver with a tonne of commercial backing and entrance into the biggest car market in the world. But yes, we just have to wait and see.
Love seeing someone get excited about Impala, I love to just watch them but often the people I'm out with are like, "Ah there are thousands all over the place, let's find something interesting"
aww the elephant is so cute ❤
RB getting clanger will be strategy. They left Ricciardo out through the safety car leaving him on used mediums and having to stop again while everyone around him was on fresh tyres and some didn't have to stop.
1:23 It looks like a road but it’s actually a river bed
That Savanah is not supposed to be that warm bro. Serve chilled. 😅
Ocon banger driver partially based on slow pit stops for Alpine. Gasly had. 19 sec pit stop and almost had albon before that without upgrades. Great drive from Ocon but to give Gasly 0 credit and have Ocon benefit from the downside Gasly had in slow car and pit stop for banger drive is a stretch.
I can see why you give banger drive to Ocon, he was doing great again this weekend, also he is doing great all season in this tractor .... We will see in Miami if this Upgrades realy worked (Ocon was faster than Gasly all season so its hard to judge if the Upgrades made him faster or if its just the normal Ocon advantage over Gasly)
Big up the GOAT Casio.
If a team can't give one of its drivers a dressing down when he screws up then it's not really an F1 team. Can you imagine Ron Dennis or Patrick Head towing the line and backing a driver when they know he's in the wrong?
Ocon deserves to be Alonso's team mate at Aston Martin.
Yes I agree
Nah I am sorry Tommo Ocon banger is just a big L. 3 cars retired for him to get P11. Plus Gasly had no upgrades and a 20s pitstop and ended up just behind him how is that in anyway a banger by Ocon.
Even Hulkenberg and Alonso are more desevered banger drives. Ocon had a very mid weekend
Edit: They didnt swap chassis. Ricc got a new chassis, Yuki has still the same he had since the start of the season. Riccs old chassis is the backup now presumably.
Zhou knows the game is up. Thats why he got a Grand Farewell party in China.
Nope, he actually mentioned that “This will definitely not my last year here in Shanghai, trust me” to all the fans during the after party after the feature race
Zhou's wing damage in the race was inconsequential. It was very close to the end and he might have passed 1 more car without that damage...
One thing I don't quite understand is this narrative that Ricciardo has improved. He qualified 14th and 12th, which is kinda where he's been qualifying all season. Only Yuki's shockingly bad weekend makes Daniel look good. He should have gotten into Q3 at least once, and pre-Stroll clanger, he was not on track to finish in the points. He still had a mandatory pit stop to complete, and there's no guarantee he would have been able to work his way back up the field and into P10.
Ricciardo gets credit for showing strong race pace, overtaking multiple cars including his teammate, and hunting down Hamilton. It was a good showing from him
Specifically the Sunday pace, he was running almost a second faster than the cars around him for a bit
@Duval-In-The-Wall he also lost three places at the start, and there was a bad call to not pit during the VSC/SC. I don't know whose call that was, it may have been the team's. I just feel like all those factors combined make it an okay showing. I'm still not convinced. I'm a Yuki fan first, but I want the team to do well. This weekend was obviously not great for us, and Haas are kinda rashing our vibe lately. Both drivers need to be in the running for points, and I don't think DR would have made it into top 10 after his stop. I've also seen his and Yuki's pace was quite similar (although I don't know how reliable that stat is cos it's one of those F1 accounts that process all the lap data and compare teammates lap times, they could be mistaken)
@@Comrade_Jason
VCARB got the strategy wrong for sure, but my assessment of Ricciardo is based on what pace he is showing, as ultimately that’s what matters. Tsunoda had a bad weekend for sure (hard to excuse starting 19th twice), but it was that 2nd stint that was encouraging for DR
Broadcast missed it, but he made about 3-4 overtakes in 5 laps and was within DRS of Hamilton’s Mercedes before the SC
Standards for Ricciardo are high, but those are the kind of performances we need to see
You left out the drama between the Ferrari drivers..
Esteban Ocon really did a great job this season , I mean almost beat his teammate every week ,and he really shows a positive attitude to a slowest car and leadership as well which kind of surprised me
Time to react on the Ferrari x HP 😂😂😂
What was your take on the Alonso save?
I would say the moves Ocon put on Gasly were... Grey zone, which arguably messed up a more clean result for both Alpines, so I wouldn't give it to him but fair play not a bad reasoning
They were hard but fair. They didn't make contact and it only cost Gasly a position to his teammate in the end. Both were able to make up positions in the sprint after
Bro ocon is better
Lance would struggle to merge cleanly onto the Merritt Parkway in Connecticut, USA
You've got Bamboos?
I feel bad for Ricciardo since rumors are that he is on the "hot seat" and just cant catch a break with not finishing races like this... I really hope Ricciardo does not loose his seat. Definitely doesnt deserve it.

Elephants and impalas are cool and all, but I miss Minton.
I think we're letting Logan off the hook way too much for this weeekend.
The guy managed to qualify dead last both qualis, almost last in the sprint with only Nico behind who had massive car problems.
Plum last in the race finishing 8 seconds off Magnussen in front, and getting that unneccessary 10 second penalty.
He also had that moment in fp1/quali i think
He has been last in almost every competitive session we have had this weekend so far.
The guy cant hook up a clean weekend and its so frustrating seeing him drive that car when someone clearly better could instead.
Out here in the real world, if you rear end someone it's your own fault! I wish Fernando was with a better team.
Clanger video: Tommo
Is that a Zambezi cider Tommo
28:27 The 1988 McLaren team were slightly better because they had two all-time great drivers, whereas Red Bull have only one. Perez is a steady number two driver. Also Mercedes 2014-2016 had two great drivers and no number two driver.
Ocon?!
Ominous = Foreboding?
Let's face facts, in today's F1 the only way we're going to get a classic race is if it rains. I hope we have a very wet summer in Europe.
Does anyone think Sargeant will score a point this year? Not a chance.
I don't understand what Lawrence Stroll's strategy is. If he wants to build a team around his son, why bring in Fernando Alonso? It doesn't make sense. Sure, you're son is an average driver but you're ULTRA RICH so spend all the money in the world to get him in F1 and get a good car underneath him. But why partner him with the man that DESTROYED team mates like Felipe Massa, Giancarlo Fisichella, Kimi Raikkonen, and ABSOLUTELY DEMOLISHED Nelson Piquet Jnr and Stoffel Vandoorne. The Aston Martin is a good car. Imagine if Lance was partnered with Nicholas Latifi or someone inoffensive like Zhou Guanyu? He'd look great, all the pressure would be off, he could focus on his driving instead of "why is there a big gap between you and your team mate?"
did he just say there are "bamboos" as if bamboo is an animal?
Have you seen lance's interviews during this year? He was the one-word boy, his face showed absolutely no excitement or any interest whatsoever. He has completely given up himself, but his father not is pushing the seat into his ass against his will because he paid for all of that. Lance can't leave even though he wants to leave.
I say this as a Merc fan. I have held out for awhile, but is it time to just say that Merc is a midfield team now?
I would even argue that they have always been, they were just lucky to hit the nail in the head for the 2014 regs.
Redbull is the real dominant force of modern F1.
Still early times.

How is rb clanger both got taken out and daniel had pace all weekend.
People are high... BUT. They were the slowest on the grid data shows and the strat of Danny would have made it impossible to be p10...
@@MelisTimeYuki was level with Lewis until he got taken out so I don't think they were the clear worst team?
@@Pricelessmile not what I said. I said they had tje worst pace. Data analysis shows. With same tyres RB would have been the slowest, followed by Williams, Alpine, Sauber, Haas... in that order. Does not say anything about the final race result..

I don't think Pou>Zhou. Not at all...
In all honesty, if Zhou was good enough for F1, he would have beaten Bottas last year.

This is what happens when you don't watch the race. To sum up Sargeant's weekend as "he spun in quali" with not so much as a syllable about him being close to his teammate all race and then the insane penalty is...lacking.
"Close", aka 20 secs behind him in the race after two safety cars (without the penalty). That's not close lol.
@@Robalexe For most of the race it was 2-4 sec. The gap only blew out at the end, when his tyres fell hard off the cliff.
@@walover165 Albon was P13 and Sargeant P20 before the first pitstop. After it they were P17 and P19 respectively. The sudden closing of that gap was clearly not indicative of pace, but rather strategy.
Interesting how Albon's tires never fell off. Wonder why that is. Oh yeah, the driver.
Zhou passed Sergeant on the hards after the restart, then Zhou pitted for softs and passed him again near the end of the race.
Would you please stop with Sargeant. He is the WORST driver out there... JUST STOP and do other racing
Honestly I’m getting so sick and tired of Lance. Like Lawrence bro, he’s never going to be WDC material, give that dream up and get serious for the rest of the team. The obvious scenario should be drop Lance and throw a boat load of cash at Carlos Sainz to race alongside his childhood hero and make Aston Martin truly a top team.
21:28 Actually there is more that Lando can do - he needs to be running second more often like Carlos Sainz so that he can capitalize on the few occasions Max/Red Bull slip up or have bad luck.
As a south African I just want say, he's in a very specific place. WE DO NOT HAVE ELEPHANTS OR ANY OTHER ANIMALS ROAMING THE STREETS. Stop asking.
Tinfoil hat but I’m sure red bull must be cheating somehow
You Brits love making predictions with more than 80% of the season to be run. Most of the time you're way off. The problem with that, it sours the rest of the season. How bout just letting things play out for at least 1/2 the season. For Fs sake, enjoy things a little. We all know your Brit and overly pessimistic, but your not a wizard

sorry but Theo Pouchaire is insanely overrated and should never been in F1, he's probably worse than Sargent. Maybe Bearman or Maloney could replace Zhou but it would never be Pouchaire
statistically, Pourchaire only has 6 wins 3 poles 20 podiums in his 3 seasons in F2, Zhou has 5 wins 3 poles 20 podiums, despite Zhou's team (Virtuosi) is much worse than Theo's (ART)
in F3 Pouchaire was only 1 points ahead of Sargent.
now Pourchare is slapped by Juju in super formula, then slapped by a mediocre field in Indycar...
He's Vasseur's protégé but even Freddy knows Zhou's better than him...
But ofc Theo is younger than most drivers so he may have "potential"... but if you have enough seasons in the sport you cannot suddenly improve - Just Look at Lance
Its not like you to praise mediocrity. Giving ocon banger drive feels like the FIA giving points down to 12th. If anything Gasly deserves it for finishing in 13th only two places behind ocons heavily upgraded car
Lance is a spoilt rich kid and a nepo baby who has never had to take accountability for anything so why start now!
