I bought a 1964 CA200 Honda 90 for $200 in 1966 when I was 16 years old. It was my first bike. I cut off the exhaust and gutted the baffles making a mean sounding megaphone. I was a little guy and because of that, I could get 65 mph out of my Honda 90. Even took it to the local drag strip where it ran the quarter mile in 21.55 seconds @ 65 mph. My last bike was a 2003 Suzuki GSX-R1000 that I converted into a street legal drag bike (No wheelie bar, slick, NOS, or turbo). At age 69, in 2019, I ran the quarter mile in 8.50 seconds at 165 mph, a mere 100 mph faster and 13 seconds quicker than my Honda 90 ran in 1967.
That is awesome. You had me at, I took my C200 to the drag strip!
I would love to have a conversation with you. Pleas email me your contact info. motorcyclerewind@gmail.com
Cool story.
You'd be my favorite neighbor if I lived in that area. I'd imagine you have teenagers in your neighborhood. I hope some of them drop in occasionally to see what you're doing out in the yard...or in the garage.
Every now and then. I did have a kid show up one day to tell me he just bought a CB175. Ended working on it in the shop. Only rules in the shop were, “Treat it like it’s yours, clean it like it’s mine!”
My question is are you starting to hear the sound of that Kickstarter in your sleep LOL
This damn motorcycle was such a pain! Drove me crazy!!!😜
check your fuel flow. it is starving for fuel. bought a 76 xt500 for cheap, cleaned the main jet, pilot jet, and rode it home.
You are correct good sir! The pilot jet was the hold up. I could see through it and it was ultrasonically cleaned 4-5 times. What I found after I finished the video is that the cap vent was clogged and causing a no run situation. Thanks for watching.
We used to pull our buddies breather off the gas cap and roll up some paper to plug the line and put the cap back on. They would take off and it quit running. After a little troubleshooting time enough fuel would make its way in to run a little more 😂.
Decades ago HONDA atc 200m i built the entire motor.
Would NOT start..I checked cdi
Valves
Timing
Compression
Carb
Coil
On off switch
Grounds
Cleaned tank
New gas cap
Was the re-used plug all.along boys.
Sometimes it’s the simplest things. I once replace a wiring harness to find out I had a blown fuse!!
At 15:00 omg...endless kicking...felt that! Can't believe it seems to be a pilot fault. Glad to see it going!
Discovered later that the tank vent was plugged which added to the run no run situation. Right leg strong like bull!!!
@@motorcyclerewind oooh - lets talk about this. What led to this discovery? (mine feels like it builds up back pressure in the gas tank and 'hisses' when I unscrew the cap.)
If the tank is not perfectly clean those jets will continue to clog up. Also you need a strong battery good strong spark!
Those are great reminders. Thanks for watching.
So many one liners in this one - some of my favorites
This thing is a rocket ship
Pushed it in the corner for awhile and let it think about its life choices
Give a honk and a vroom vroom (show the Harley boys whats up)
This thing packs a whole lotta whoop ass
I was doing 150 mph - I mean you guys saw it - it was RIDICULOUS!
Love it Eric - keep 'em coming!
Thank you so much!!! The funniest thing is I would be having the same conversation(out loud) without the camera!!! Thanks for watching really means a lot!!!
Loved those as well haha
Thanks for the support. I really appreciate it.
I had a 1964 c200 as my first bike it ran good and would register 55mph on the clock flat out sold it without mot for £5 and another £5 for the new battery inb1976 lol
I want to hear more of this story. Like how old were you? What year was it? I do a Talking Motorcycles “podcast” live on Instagram every Monday and Thursday. I would love for you to tell your C200 stories and others of course. Message me on Instagram - Motorcycle Rewind. Thanks for watching.
You have the right coil x my other comment.
Maybe a tire pressure affects fuel pressure LOL
Dang I should have check it. 😂
Wow! I really enjoyed your video! This was my dream machine back in 1965 when I was 14 yrs old. I watched another kid riding one on his front lawn until he could get his driver license. His dad bought it brand new for him. I did end up with a Yamaha 80 Trail Bike which I was rather ugly. Didn't like the 2 cycle screaming sound and having to manually put oil in the gas and lots of fouled out plugs along the way. Again, awesome video! Subscribed
These are such cool little bikes. Thanks for watching.
You get more smiles per gallon on a vintage Honda.
Yes you do. Thanks for watching.
I had the same problem with my 90 over 55 years ago and it turned out to be a short in the turn signal wiring, it would die and then if I left it alone and the battery would gain a little and then start and soon leave me stranded, took a while to figure it out but after that it was the most reliable machine
I will check it out. Thanks for the tip.
I won somthing like this in a raffle in the early eighties at motorcycle wreckers in Sydney's western suburb of Parramatta
I think it was a 1966 model it was red fading to pink from memory it had telescopic front forks but I could be mistaken, it was complete and had road registration
I rode it around for a few weeks while I was getting some work done on my Yamaha and then sold it for $200 which at the time was okay
It was an excellent little bike I wish I still had it
Maybe you won an S90 I believe it had telescoping forks and a tube frame versus a stamped steel frame. Thanks for watching.
@@motorcyclerewind
I just watched your video where you have your C200 and an S90 and a 50cc Honda Cub
I wish I still had my prize Honda 90 now, it would look great next to my 1968 Hodaka Ace 100
Find one. They are out there and affordable.
@@motorcyclerewind
I'd better stick to my Hodakas I've got four more of them waiting for restoration
Going to take a guess at Did you check the float height Also the Condenser could be breaking down
Good guesses. It have new points and condenser. Earlier(months ago) we were losing spark which was due to a failed insulating washer where the condenser connected. You are close with the float height. Definitely carb related.
@@motorcyclerewind With that Carb the float height is set at around 19.2 MM with the Carb at an angle of around 40 degrees According to my Honda C110 workshop manual think its the same Carb
They will actually outrun the overhead cam model I've had it done and did it how about run a sl100 when it was brand new and I had got this thing basically off a guy's carport when I was a kid and it was given up on
Thanks for watching.
Such a beautiful bike, great sound. I'm glad you got it going. Would love to own one here in England.
such a cool little bike
I have a similar model c201 from canada has the overhead cam but same carb and find mine fouls plugs just put a newer rectifier on it huge difference in maintaining charge on battery for better spark and huge differnce in lighting check that out so far so good.
Thanks for the tip. This little motorcycle tried to break me!!! Thanks for watching
Working, watching and commenting... still. Just keep kicking it!
Mostly watching and commenting. Just doing it at work!
I had that problem once and it was the wrong coil and I did not know that Honda actually made a AC or a DC coil and this was on a cl70 but it would fire it wouldn't run.. me and the other best Honda mechanic in our country work hours on this thing and then found another mechanic that figured it out for us
I need to talk to you. You know way more than I do. Would love to pick your brain. Email me motorcyclerewind@gmail.com
I would try another coil take that back something is getting warm in a winding somewhere and opening Maven beer stator or a selenium rectifier
Thanks for the suggestion.
The more i am watching your videos, the more i am loving the content like this. You have got a subscriber ♥
Thanks so much for subscribing.
HAHAAAA onlyfans for motorcycles
Gotta grow by any means necessary.
Check for sediment in float bowl and gas tank also fuel line
That’s a great suggestion. Thanks for watching.
Small classic bikes are so cool !!! And so much fun!!! 👍
So much fun to ride. Thanks for watching
Very interesting videos. But never try cleaning the jets with wire from a wire brush what you are actually doing is fileing away bits of brass basically up jetting. Try different sizes of monofilament fishing line and buy a ultrasonic cleaner
I like the fishing line idea. I have an ultrasonic cleaner. Thanks for watching.
You are shooting yourself in the foot using that light to check your points.
I have been shooting myself in the feet for a while now.😂 thanks for watching.
I have one and the gears get jammed, are they hard to repair?
I can imagine. Thanks for watching.
Where's your electric motor remote starter ?
Sometimes, like this one. I forget I have it and keep kicking like a crazy person. 🤣😂🤣
Yeah, totally. I like it , a bad plug totally
This damn little bike tried to drive me crazy.
Moral of the story: get rid of the modern day NGK plug, they're not what they used to be. I've wasted so much time on them firing outside the hole and not under compression. Since they stopped glazing the porcelain around the electrode (done because today's fuel injected engines don't flood) they foul easy and can't be refurbished. Current will track to ground without a spark. I've switched all my small Honda's to Autolite, way more forgiving to wrong mixture at startup.
Thanks for the info.
I have a 67 C201 in Canada Only Blue.
That’s awesome. I have never seen one of those. Thanks for watching.
If the rectifier breaks down it will send alternating current to the coil intermittently they will still show us firing but it won't run I had one do that once
The crazy thing is since I pushed the guy home. No problems. Starts without jump box. Fixed itself. Making me crazy 🤪
@@motorcyclerewind they always do
So let some air back out of the tires LOL
I was willing to try anything.
It doesn't have a rev limiter😂
🤣😂🤣
I’ve got two of these bikes to restore .. this gives me hope 😅
Let’s go!!! 2 of them.
@@motorcyclerewind my hope is to restore one to standard and do one as a custom
That was my first Honda!!
This would make a great first motorcycle plenty capable for getting around and super comfortable we have some cool plans for this guy. Well at least I think they are cool.
Adjust the valves
Thanks for the tip and thanks for watching.

Oh by the way I had the same bike. I bought it second-hand from my sister's boyfriend in 1973. I basically had the same problem you're having with getting it running properly he haven't used it for a couple of years. Lucky for me my friend's dad was a horologist he took the carburettor apart and soaked everything in clock makers cleaning fluid. He cleaned and adjusted the points and I think he put in a new condenser. That little bike ran like new for the 6 years I owned it. In 1975 I bought a Suzuki GT 250 brand new from the Showroom and I still enjoyed riding My Little Honda 90 never let me down not once in 6 years
Need to get me some of that liquid!!😂 This little guys has been running good as of late(knock on wood). So good that we decided to race it. You can see that in our latest video. Thanks for watching.
Yes I did watch it. That little Kawasaki was amazing. But if I was a gambler I would have put my money on that Suzuki the missing baffle is basically a metal tube sealed off on the front and the tube has about 6mm holes drilled around the length of the tube about the 2in between the holes
God knows how long I would have kept that Little Honda c200 90cc bike if some asshole in work didn't back a forklift In to it totally writing it off. I only rode it work that morning because my Suzuki GT 250 had a flat rear tyre. Truth told I'd sooner it had happened to my Suzuki. You know what insurance companies are like
Lol
Don't want none of this
Come on. You would love to give this guy a few kicks. 😂
It is not the best example to throw fuel onto the ground, (18.18) surely not so difficult to dispose of responsibly. And the carburation would work better with the air cleaner attached.
You’re right. I now have the boot the connects the carb and the air box. Makes a difference. Thanks for watching.
Definitely appreciate the time and effort put into these bikes.
This little guy tested my patience. I out it in the corner to think about what it was doing several times. 😂 Thanks for watching.
I generally clean up at the end. That’s put every tool away, clean down work surfaces and sweep floor. Sometimes I’ll do a mini clean mid way through if things are getting out of hand. I’m definitely a tidy workshop kind of guy.
I cook the same way. When I am finished cooking nothing left to do by eat.
This was my FIRST motorcycle! I put a huge add on sprocket on it and rode hills like a monster! Loved this bike!
They are great little motorcycles. I had no interest in one. I love riding this one. I am going to some things to change the look of it. It going to be a fun build. Thanks for watching. Send me a pic of your on Instagram.
was my first too, this was allowed under the moped license in Texas , mine lasted 2 years I rode it hard. I wish I had it now, it need a bigger piston and maybe a cam? The OHC 90 made great power but this OHV was comfy. sound good and was easy to work on. Thanks for this video
Fuel air mixture?
Thanks.
This was the first bike i owned when I turned 16. It was a great little bike &very reliable. I'm now in my 60s & I have just purchased another one (1965 ) after much searching. I live in England UK.
Right on! That is so awesome! Thanks for watching!
Thanks for your reply. I was beginning to think your problem was a partially blocked main jet or your carb was sucking to much air with you having the carb rubber missing. I'm glad you got it sorted out & showed what an underated bike they are. Regards, Ian
Awesome
Thanks for watching.
Condenser?
That’s a good idea. I changed it. Have great spark. It was carb issues
I have a Honda C200 in great shape but same stalling out problem as you had. What was the spec on the spark plug you installed that kept it running?
The problem I was having was two fold. First a restricted pilot jet. I thought but was clear and it wasn’t. Used a piece wire from a wire brush to throughly clear it. The second was a clogged vent in the fuel cap. Sorted those two and we are good now. I believe the spark plug is NGK D8HA. Reach out motorcyclerewind@gmail.com or on Instagram if you have any questions.
@@motorcyclerewind Thank you so much for the feedback. Really enjoy your videos!
Guess I'll see it @ barber in oct.
Yes you will!!! Definitely will be any rider! We will be at G-14 as always.
We've just inherited one of these from my father-in-law. It was his Dad's that he (father-in-law) renovated.
Awesome. They are loads of fun. Pretty simple to get going. My son in law just picked one up that he is bringing back to life.
